I’m a little ashamed to admit this but I’ve been playing a fair share of Black Ops 6 multiplayer. The whole “omnimovement” thing does take a bit to get used to but once you do, it’s a ton of fun. Basically it lets you sprint in any direction, and you’re able to do dolphin dives from any angle as well. You can sprint while strafing and go into a dolphin dive for an action movie style stunt, and when you successfully pull one off it’s really satisfying.

For the most part the matchmaking seems to be very good. It needs to be for a game this big I suppose. No matter what other people’s ranks are, I always feel like the matches are fair and everyone is within fairly equal skill levels. In games like this and Battlefield, I go through phases of doing really great one match, then eating dirt the next. Last night I was actually doing very good. I’ve found that I really only like playing Team Deathmatch so that’s what I was focused on playing. I did hop into a match of Zombies but the missions and objectives can be quite confusing if you aren’t paying close enough attention.

My main complain with the game is with how absolutely massive the franchise is and how many millions of players each entry gets, why does it take on average over 5 minutes for me to start the game then matchmake into a server? A game like this should be way snappier with their menus and matchmaking. I can pull up a game like Quake 2 and find a death match server in 30 seconds, or CS2 and find a Free For All match in about 1 minute. COD takes forever to load even on a decently fast SSD, then you need to go through the garbage “hub” menus to get into BO6, then selecting multiplayer adds a slight delay having to boot up a whole new UI, then the actual matchmaking process takes over a minute alone. Then, once you do find a server, it’s at least a full 30 seconds until the game fully begins. My point being, it’s way too slow and sluggish, I should be able to get into a game way faster than it is now. On top of this, the downtime between matches is a solid 2-3 minutes which IMO is way too long if I’m wanting to get multiple matches in a session.

Being a Castlevania fan I picked up the Dominus collection. I never played Portrait of Ruin, but I always enjoyed the other two games so I thought I'd snag em to play on the train when I go visit family or for doctors appointments. I've never played the 3d ones myself, I just always loved the side scrolling ones.

Portrait of Ruin seems interesting. I'll really have to jump into it soon..... just been doing art lately. Painted my old bass guitar. Looks killer.

Had portrait of ruin on my DS (i got it for an absolute bargain like £7 when it was still RRP of £30 and wasn't easy to get hold of in the UK). I had a reasonably good time with it. i feel the portrait dimension gimmick was under utilized tbh. Could really have come up with more areas in the map, but no they recycled the same 4. Which is a bit disappointing. But still, played the hell out of POR including the secondary modes and completing all the challenges.

Window shopping once more for pc parts and the 9800x3d is looking very tasty indeed. Just been imagining what i would get and how much it would cost and whether its worth forking out. Like other here have said, buy now. But again, i can't justify it with Cost of living going up, the lack of games to unleash the beast, the cost of parts (the Chip and GPU alone will set me back 1k) and my massive back catalogue is perfectly fine with my skylake i7 and my 1070 GPU. perhaps 2 or 3 years down the line i'll have a think about it, but for now its more a pipe dream.

Do you have any idea how long it takes to find that many people as bad as you are?

hahahahaha just kidding, of course. I think if I were going to play PvP I'd want something with more realistic movement. In my mind, I'm seeing a lot of CoD players who look like they need an ambulance. I thought that's what Quake was for.

Screw Rockstar. I was going to play GTA IV, but it's been years since I played a Rockstar game and I have no idea what my password is. Unfortunately, their system doesn't properly send emails, so I have no way to reset my password. You can't even get to their support without your password. I'm not opening a new account under a different email. It's not that important to me.

Wait you may be onto something. I’m not actually that good, I only do good against people worse than me. So if I’m already doing bad, beating people worse than me, I may be matchmaking with the lowest skilled players. As long as I’m doing good in game I don’t care :ROFLMAO:

Been playing Blightfall whenever I have time and energy, which isn't often. I've spend a bunch of time clearing taint from caves and gathering resources, as well as slowly making my way through the Thaumcraft tech tree. There's a whole bunch of stuff I still need to take care of before I can even begin to automate stuff, but I'm getting there.

My kid has a friend who lives in the same building as us, but they aren't very close. However, my kid recently learned her friend gets to play Roblox occasionally, so she was begging me to let her play too.

I've been wary about Roblox and have kept it off of our devices until now, but my kid doesn't get to play with other kids outside of school very often, so I gave in and she had her first Roblox playdate today. I locked her account down as much as I could, but I'll have to try to keep an eye on what she's doing.

I did play a little bit with her and honestly, it's absolutely terrible. It's even worse than the low quality "creative" stuff on Fortnite.

Somebody, maybe Bloomberg, did a report on Roblox and called it a pedo hellscape, but then I also heard that Roblox had added some security, so maybe it's getting better.

My kid cannot chat with anyone, so I'm not too worried about that for now, but I'll have to keep an eye on what kind of stuff she sees on there.
She's probably fine now, but when she gets to middle school age, you need to shoot her with some of that magic foam from the game Prey, and then just roll her into her bedroom and lock the door for four years.

Yep, it was Bloomberg—need to register to read it

BBC then did an article in Feb 2022, referencing the Bloomberg report.

In response to the BBC sharing before pub, Roblox posted re improvements.
There was a report more recently, too

Ive been playing MP a bit too (TDM/Zombies only) and on top of longer wait times for games in which youd think you'd be connected right away, the whole COD hub is annoying with bloated screens, desktop re-launching to get to certain parts of the COD hub, updates that dont start before you wait for the game to load etc.

And then the MP itself...its still buggy net code COD to me where you see and hear the thud thud thud thud of your bullets and dieing and then watching the kill cam shows you not hit him more than 1 time is just annoying to see. There are plenty of tik-toks out there showing this.

But yes, the omnimovment is a nice touch, i love it. Zombies is fun even though its just 2 maps atm and the campaign has been one of the best campaigns so far in the last decade (so idk 5 or 6 call of duties?) outside of Cold War being an ok-one.

As for me, outside of Black Ops 6:

Been playing a little more of Dragon Age: Veilguard which still sits at a "mostly positive" on steam with 16k reviews. Its still pretty good to me. Added some of the mods to make the game look "darker" and added some other small stuff so it looks better now to me.

To keep this short, the game is still solid to me, both story and combat, especially combat as a rogue in this game because its snappy, responsive and fun, especially with its finishers. Its a little to linear in terms of walking around, but there are a lot of places to travel to, and the enviornments look good.

Im having fun and moving through but, It'll probably fall to the way-side in terms of completion like most of my SP games do.

As i play more i can see why diehard fans of Dragon Age would be upset it isnt more like the other games, but the lore is there, there are whole side quests dealing with past DA situations and characters but it couldve been more. I personally like the combat, so it being less TB and more action is perfect for me. If the combat wasnt as fun as it is, i probably wouldnt be playing it.

Other than that, Diablo 4 and Helldivers 2 still going strong in this household. Son and i play every other day it seems and D4 and my wife play through on the weekends getting nothing special in drops lol.

Earlier today I finished my Honor Mode run in BG3. Honor mode means you only have one life and you can't reload if you do something you regret. If you die, the game is over. The bosses in honor mode also have unique attacks, making some of the fights quite dangerous but also much more fun than just bomb-rushing them.

The journey from level 1 to 12 has been a steep learning curve with every nook and cranny bringing new and old ways of utilizing different strategies. There have been moments of pure frustration, completely jaw-dropping surprises, almost wiping, and the joy of knowing you made it through a difficult encounter.

So after roughly 109 hours I got to the final boss and by the entrance I buffed, summoned what could be summoned, and went into a pretty exciting battle. I made some mistakes here and there but managed to keep focus and win the title and a golden dice skin you can use for rolling your in-game dice.

I did this on Minecraft. My kids discovered the Servers tab and since then I've restricted everything but the ability for them to play with each other. Thankfully, I think they find the servers pretty boring versus playing with each other over the network.

Apparently, Steam will not issue refunds for an individual game in a bundle. Two weeks or so ago I bought Killer Frequency and Pacific Drive as a bundle; I played through and completed KF and now having moved on to Pacific Drive, I am very unsatisfied. I do think I mentioned this in a previous post, but the game looks like ass and plays even worse. Even on my desktop with a Ryzen 5600 and 6700 XT, it bounces between 30FPS and 60ish with settings between medium/Ultra.

Anyway, that, coupled with the lack of Saves during a mission got me to ask for a refund, but Steam cannot because it's a bundle and I put 7 hours into Killer Frequency. I only paid like $16 for PD, but it has to be one of the purchases that has annoyed me more in recent years. Anyway, I might still give it a go and try to find the charm, since I'm stuck with this turd pile anyway.

I have been playing a lot of Drova - Forsaken Kin, as my time allows. It's basically a modern Gothic with isometric graphics. So far, it's been fun, as I've been craving a Gothic experience for a little bit now and while I liked Elex, it wasn't quite hitting the spot.

So I more or less ignored Humble Choice for about a year. Now I'm going through and adding games to my Steam account. So far I've added:

Victoria 3
Humankind Definitive Edition
The Calisto Protocol
Persona Golden 4
Lamplighters League
Hexarchy
Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy
Coral Island
Lost Eidelans
Astrea
High on Life
Gotham Knights
Blacktail
Astral Ascent
Universe for Sale
A Plague Tail: Requiem
Ghostrunner 2
Starship Troopers: Terran Command
Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign
Lego 2K Drive
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Hi-Fi Rush

I'm not even close to finished yet. Will probably take me a few more days to look everything up and decide if I want to add it.

I've had at least a mild interest in all of the above, so now I get to give them a try. Pretty fun.

There were also games that I added immediately each month, games that I had more than a mild interest in.

Is it a waste of money if I'm not that into it? Yeah, but if I never wasted any money I'd enjoy life quite a bit less.

Can anyone suggest a nice starting spot for Euro Truck Simulator 2?

Two racing games I was looking forward to launched to bad user reviews, and I need something to drive in, so I figure it's time to finally really get into ETS2.
Berlin is good if you have most of the DLC as it's fairly central, has most types of cargo and has a very good motorway ring road system.
