No real point to this post, I just want to sing the praises of the eGPU again.
My friend gifted me Manor Lords for my birthday, so I installed it on my laptop yesterday. After firing it up, I didn't realize my eGPU wasn't enabled and after adjusting settings, the game was running in the teens (damn twits) for FPS at 800p. Looking at the recommended specs for the game, I figured my laptop should be able to handle this with the eGPU, so I checked and yeah, it wasn't enabled.
Now, running the game on High at 2160x1350, I'm getting between 45-60FPS depending on what's going on. And watching my utilization, I'm at 95-98% GPU usage and 60%ish CPU, so it looks like the low end stuff (i7-1160G7 + 5500XT) are very well paired.
I'm just very well pleased that I can use the laptop I want and be able to play the games I want. I very much dislike gaming laptops), for being so bulky, unsightly and not having the features I want, so to be able to "upgrade" in essence, my favorite style is just great. eGPUs were a wondeful invention.
