Sports forum is going nuts over the impending launch of EA's college football game. One guy is buying 3 Xbox's, one for him and for each of his two kids. He just asked if he would need 3 different online accounts for all 3 to play at the same time instead of just a parent/kids account. No one is acting like any of this is strange. Of course, I bought gaming laptops for everyone in my family on multiple occasions, so I can't really talk. Guess I'm glad people over there are getting enthusiastic about gaming.

One thing is for certain. They are all going to throw a collective fit when they see how EA has our team/players rated. Not a reasonable expectation to be found.

I played some PokeRogue. First run didn't go so good because I was still figuring out the controls and left with only 1 Pokemon. I'm still figuring out how to tell exactly what is going on during battle.

There's no in-game tutorial, but you can check out the guide for new players at the wiki:

One thing that is good to know is that some abilities and moves have not been implemented yet, these have a "(N)" behind the name. Similarly, abilities and moves that are partially implemented have a "(P)". The wiki has a list of what part is missing.

I did just start feeling some carpal tunnel

You use a wrist rest? I had to switch mouse hands long time ago, and only found out about wrist rests then—no problem since.

it'll be nice to be able to keep many of these 100Gb games installed, not needing to constantly remove stuff and fiddle with space to install something new

If most of your games are on Steam, there's a fairly easy way you can move installed games back & forth. So keep 'em waiting on a large HD, and move on-off SSD as required. We have an old thread about it, shout if interested and I-we will dig it out :)

Who else had an immediate 'That can't be how it's pronounced'?

Satisfactory (better than Factorio) is coming out of early access on September 10. Price is going up to $40 in a couple of weeks, but it's on sale for $15 right now if anyone is interested in it.

Personally, I'm hoping they immediately start working on Satisfactory 2 :).

I'm going to make a macro for my keyboard that automatically types "Satisfactory (better than Factorio)" just to irritate Factorio people who have to be some of the most annoying fanboys on PC.

That's definitely an appealing price and I'm getting a little FOMO knowing it's going up in a few weeks now. That said, I don't think I'd actually play it right away or even soon, so I probably better skip it for now.

I read about SOVL last night, shortly before bedtime and ended up playing over 70 minutes of if and am looking forward to more. Apparently, it's very much inspired by the old Warhammer Fantasy Battles or the new Warhammer Old World and I gotta say, it's really cool. I haven't played either of those Warhammer games, but SOVL is actually giving me some motivation to pick up the Rulebook for it.

Not sure what else to say, other than it's a rank and file army game, so you're reeling your big blocks of units around and rolling a bunch of dice back and forth.

I'm excited to play more after the long drive today.

External SSDs aren't that expensive these days, either. You can get 1TB for under 100 bucks and 2 TB for not too much more. I just keep a couple of these plugged into my laptop all the time (since I don't move it).

Someone talk some sense into me. I'm considering buying a PS5 just to join a sports league for college football on the other site.

What I typically do is just transfer stuff around my network. My main PC/server functions as my primary Steam library and then I just redownload from there periodically; my network is fast enough that it isn't much of an issue.

There's just certain things I want to keep on my laptop that I can't do that easily with, which ends up hitting my bandwidth limit with my ISP.

Problem is, my 4Tb drive on my server is running out of space, so I need an upgrade, but upgrading to two 8Tb drives (one for backup) is pretty damn expensive, so it's something we've been putting off for a little bit. But that server houses all my games, as well as a pretty huge movies and music collection and other random stuff.

@neogunhero - five starred the beginner area!? Even that musician guy?? Dude! Get out of the tutorial and play! You can come back here any time you want - in fact, you'll need to eventually for story reasons.

Wait... there was a bit of lore.... Yes, here it is! Nice and early in the game, too, so no spoilers.

Addicted to deliveries... sound familiar? Now get out of the tutorial before you turn into a mule!

You haven't seen Peep Show or That Mitchell and Webb Look?
Never even heard of them! (Or forgot that I heard of them)
I have reached part II of Marvel: Midnight Suns. I'm starting to get bored of the game a bit, but the story, dialogue and abbey mysteries keep me interested.

And it's not that I'm not enjoying the gameplay, it's just that I have so many other great games on my backlog that I'm starting to get impatient with how long it's taking me to finish this one.
It goes faster. A lot faster, really. The whole exploration part is almost completely done by that point.

Have you exploded yet?

Well, ive unexpectedly stop playing everything and have been laser focused on The First Descendent . A game i had on my wishlist, forgot about, and didnt realize it was releasing until the day before...for free.

So, to me, it reminds me of a cross between Warframe, The Division and Destiny . A third-person looter shooter with the Asian aesthetic, i mean it is Nexon, but you know (hot busty girls everywhere, Panda outfits first drop, free cute af bear backpack when you hit level 20 etc...) and each of your "Descendants" have special powers like Destiny, but are set up like warframe where you "collect" a bunch of different pre-made class loadouts to use.

Im not a huge fan of the aesthetic MMO style personally, but it is buried in a actually pretty good shooter and the loot is good. Guns and armor look amazing, guns and hits sound crunchy and deep. Quick and easy way to rank up a character to max level 40 in the first area (the game doesn't really start until after that and the campaign).

I wound up buying the battlepass (10 bucks) and then a start pack (another 10). So i spent 20 on a free game. I did this mainly because i like the game, theres a lot to do, the combats fun etc. So i dont mind throwing some cash towards a f2p game.

With that, there are A LOT OF MICROTRANSACTIONS, but you dont need any of it as per usual, but it is super enticing to pay for materials because this game does the whole "wait xxx amount of hours before this gun is completed" unless you pay to advance the time (which i refuse to).

8 /10

Still playing Dark souls 3. interestingly, i've made some surprisingly good progress imo. managed to defeat a couple of bosses, opened up a lot of areas and currently in the poison swamp areas and surging forward. haven't beaten the crystal mage (came very close with literally down to one last blow) but probably need more upgrading and it will be a easy peasy. Not difficult, just when he spawns lots of mirrors of himself does it get tricky.

The one thing i am waiting for is that lotheric longsword. Apparently the best longsword in the game and should be easy to acquire. i mean it comes from lotheric knights which there are a couple wandering around in the first area. But so far none of them will be kind enough to give me one.

i might have to make do with the standard longsword (ie the one i started the game with) and keep going.

It is a very long game. However, Parts II and III should not be as long as Part I.

That's good to know. I do still have one moon stone to find, so I'm not done exploring yet, but I think I've unlocked most of the map already.

Have you exploded yet?

Only a little bit.

Nah, 🎶 we love you just the way you are 🎵

We had a post by a developer that was removed. Was that due to a no self-promotion rule?

Yep, devs have to be pre-approved by Future to self-promo. As you can imagine, we get plenty of drive-by stuff every day so we're strict about it to avoid 'But you let Fred…" appeals to the staff Community Managers.

I PMed the guy and replied to his Intro post, so all should end well :)

I can't argue against that although I want to.... since ... I bought a mega drive to play one game. It was a good game. Dune 2.
It is only fanboys who think you can only have a PC or console... Its your money.

I agree with Brian, its probably too late for the first sentence :)

Expeditions: Rome is starting to wear out its welcome. It has been great, but now it's bogging down. I'm only about half way through, but I've seen all the skills I'm going to be using. That can be fine if there's good enemy variety to make me use the skills differently or a good story to carry it along, but there just isn't.

Still, I got 73 hours out of the game, and it costs under $20 when sales are on, so it's very much worth it.

Oh, a new kind of patient gaming! ;)

I DID IT! I BEAT POKÉROGUE!

After 22 runs, I finally won. I honestly didn't expect to win with this team when I was about halfway through. I had considered replacing Dudunsparce with a fairy type, but when I did find some I either forgot to catch them or didn't think they were good enough. I don't think I used him at all in the last 20 encounters.

Catching Sobble, who turned into Gigamax Inteleon, turned out to be my best choice of the game. He solo'd two of the Elite Four and got the final hit on Eternamax.

Stunfisk, while slow, turned out to be more useful than I expected as well. He has enough defence and great typing to tank a couple of hits, especially after I gave him leftovers which heal him for 1/16 of his health every turn.

Mega Gyarados was honestly less powerful than I expected, even with 3 multi-lenses that allowed her to do every attack 4 times at 60% attack strength. Still an absolute powerhouse though.

Unfezant was amazing. Great defence, great attack, amazing speed, she carried me from the very beginning to the very end.

Chandelure... was also there. She's quite strong, but I only really used her if I really needed a fire attack. Her Curse move did come in useful a few times too, including against Eternatus.

Now I can try to win classic mode with all the other ~600 starters or try out the newly unlocked endless mode.

I don't always look all over the board for threads

For regulars like yourself, I recommend using this as your forum shortcut:

Nice easy list of threads which have had a post since your last visit, includes which forum the thread is in. Open those of interest in a new tab for each and you're set—particularly useful for slow connections as the rest will load while you're reading the first one.

Wow, the game Casino Resort Tower is refreshingly complex. I've been playing a lot of Project Highrise, which is similar to the old SimTower games. Project Highrise is probably the right mix of complexity and playability for most people (and it's only $3.99 right now), and so I figured I could do Casino Resort Tower without playing the tutorial and just figuring it out as I go, but it didn't take me long to realize I was going to be missing out on a lot of things that would be good to know, so now I'm going through that. It's a lot of fun, even the tutorial.
