Well, I was mostly interested in the adventure aspect of it, as well as their commitment to historical research. I got the first 4 on a sale. The bigger ones add whole campaigns but even the cheapest one adds more events, characters and mechanics.
They don't turn the game on its head but if you enjoy the setting (and I really do enjoy it very much) it's a way to appease that feeling of "give me more of this, but new and different".
Fair enough, doesnt sound like anything is a must buy immediately then. Ive only really just started and havent worked everything out yet. I'll check them out when theres a sale on.

The events turn to turn and the extra diplomacy from family and court matters spice up the sort of maintenance turns where its just a matter of choosing buildings as and when they come up when the civs are just kind of expanding exploring. I like an historical setting and it seems to be done with love here, but Im not any kind of ancient history buff so the game itself is the main draw for me.

Ah yes, if you're just starting there's no point in getting DLC if you're not done with the main game, in my opinion.

I have minimal motivation to play anything except WoW right now. I keep installing games and thinking I ought to give them a go, firing them up and finding I have no interest in even trying.

Not exactly sure what it is, but I think I'm in kind of an anxious spot right now, having a lot of generalized anxiety and it just feels good to dip into a comfort game and do the same thing I've done a thousand times before.

So January's Ghost left too? I swear I'll try to be nicer and engage people in conversations from now on.

Saw his name was slashed out, looked at his profile and was wondering what happened?

Sometimes I think we do a get a little stopped-up in basically talking to our selves (I know I do it), but I figure I'm not saying anything of any interest or importance, so it's understandable.

Huh. Gotta watch to see if Ghost keeps posting in the PC Gamer comments sections.

I beat the nasty boss (even recorded it, thank you Steam). The internet lied to me; it wasn't really about dodging. That helped a little, but it was more about concentrating on the arms using the lock-on as well as going back to a slightly older save so I could swap my materia around a little.

I'VE JUST UNLOCKED NUCLEAR POWER!!!

And to be clear, I'm running a convenience store.
I've got a bad feeling about this. ;)

Speaking of talking to myself, I'll quote myself, since I don't feel like editing my previous post.

I do (here we go again) get a little self conscious that most of my posts contain lots of "I" and "I did this" "I played this", etc, etc. Feel like I need to make more effort, but often I just don't have much to say! I, I, I, I, I, I.

I could do a better job of interacting with other users as well. I found that I started treating this forum more as a distraction for when I'm bored than a place to properly interact with like-minded people. It doesn't help that I often think that I have nothing valuable to add to a conversation anyway.

I'm addicted to retail sims, and based on the trailer and talking to the developer, this is going to be a step or three above the average one. The developer has posted on here before. I told him about registering as a developer. Don't know if he's going to do that or not.

Haven't played any of these myself, though I did get get that arcade one on Epic a couple of you guys played for awhile. Never did bother to play it, since everyone described it as running a laundromat rather than an arcade.

This one looks interesting though, the aesthetic really grabs me.

Its nothing from our side with January's Ghost, you can deactivate the account and re-up it at any point as far as I understand it.

I hope they do! Yea its sad to see someone go that was starting to hang around. Maybe they will be back.

Recorded my average experience with my earthquake barbarian this season, its an easy set-up and doesnt take much of the games hidden weapons and grind to get this build this powerful but its fun when you get on a roll, and maybe a little dizzying.

Outside of playing Diablo 4, im still cutting away at Avowed. I honestly think im gonna be completing this one. It doesnt seem too long and im kinda breezing through even with max difficulty (thats available rn) so we will see.

Also, Killing Floor 3's beta starts this week and i have been invited to play so im stoked for that and hopefully it wont dappen my enthusiasm for its full release next month.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with that arcade game. It's boring as hell, and I usually love these types of games. Right now, if you wanted to try a shop game, I'd probably pick TCG Card Shop. These developers actually have their own TCG, and they use the cards in this game. It's fun opening packs and trying to collect the expensive cards. You can then either sell them in your shop or just collect them. Eventually, you'll be able to play the TCG with customers. But there are a decent number of unlocks, things to sell, shop fixtures, employees, etc. And they are adding a lot of real-life products. They just entered a deal with Ultra-Pro and added a bunch of their items to the game for you to sell. There are real-life board games, as well. The game is very popular. The announcement for Ultra-Pro got almost 20,000 likes.

That and Clothing Store Simulator are both good ones, although the Clothing Store Simulator dev has jumped ship. It's basically finished anyway. (They just had a major update I didn't notice). The major problem with Clothing Store Simulator is that about half-way through you max out your daily earning potential, which causes less motivation to continue.

I played a bit of Wizard of Legend today. It's been on my wishlist for a while when I noticed I got it as a freebie from Epic at some point.

It's an ARPG roguelite, with combat that's a bit similar to Diablo 4 with a dash and a limited number of skills you can have active at a time. However, healing comes at a premium, so every hit hurts a lot. Also, most of the time you get locked in a small room with multiple enemies, usually a combination of melee and ranged, so it gets chaotic really fast.

However, after a couple of runs, I managed to beat the first boss. As long as you have spells that cover a large area for an extended period of time you can stunlock most enemies, making it a lot easier to deal with multiple enemies.

Honestly, I'll probably wait until this one you just posted, as the theme very much appeals to me and it means I don't need to spend any money right now

Works for me. I can verify that the developer is working very hard on it. He's not using any sort of shop engines like all the rest have. He's doing everything from scratch, which means he can avoid some of the pitfalls that all of the other ones have.

*****

I was unable to convince the Center Station Simulator dev to leave his game in French :ROFLMAO:There is currently no option to change the language. It's just a mixture of French and English. I really just wanted him to leave it all in French until he was ready to completely change it to English. It's just somehow more confusing to me this way. Plus, I've learned some interesting things, like the French don't have a word for limes. They just call them "green lemons", and the name for potato means "apple of the earth". I only know the latter one because I couldn't believe a game with 50 different fruits and vegetables didn't have potatoes, so I looked up what the French was so I could verify that it wasn't there.

*****

Left an extensive note for ****** about their upcoming game *****. If they don't make some changes, that game is going to bomb badly. It takes about 1 hour to unlock the first unlock, and then it's just a bigger box of what you already have, and it takes about 4 more hours to unlock anything different from what you start the game with. And God only knows how long it takes to get to anything interesting. Given that the game isn't really any fun in the beginning (you do the same two actions over and over), that's a recipe for disaster. As politely as I could, I told them I wouldn't even play the game if they gave it to me for free, which they better do considering the suffering they just put me through.

Note: decided not to list the developer and game since I'm $h!t talking it, and it isn't even finished. They may well take my suggestions since they specifically asked for them.

I didn't like Firmament or UFO 50... enough to commit to them anyway, and for different reasons.

So I ended up getting The Sea Will Claim Everything and Thaumistry, instead. One way or another my wishlist is getting pretty lean and focused now.
I wouldn't mind getting Firmament and Obduction next sale and giving them a try. I've got Thaumistry on my wishlist. UFO 50 seems like it would be good, but I've never had much luck with game compilations, although I've heard great things about UFO 50. Now that you've mentioned it, even though you didn't like it, I'm wanting it... :ROFLMAO:

Taking a break from being annoying on Steam and correcting people's user reviews. Take for instance,

"Honestly fantastic concept so far. Little crunchy here and there in gameplay. But i'm having fun."

'Dear reviewer, "Crunchy" is a positive when applied to games meaning that they have visual and audio feedback that lets you feel the combat, usually melee combat, in your gut. The correct word here is "clunky".'

See? What would people do without me? Just making the world a better place...

Crunchy in this context might mean "rules heavy", at least that's a word I would use to describe different wargames. Rules being pretty crunchy.

That wouldn't make sense for the game it was reviewing, which was a cozy game about exploring a map while picking wildflowers. That was pretty much all you do, although you can make floral arrangements when you get back home with the flowers you picked.

It's one game of a bundle I'm thinking about buying.
