@neogunhero $50 doesn't seem like a lot for how much use you'll get out of them. Including tickets, fuel, snacks, etc, you'd spend that to see a few 2-hour movies at the cinema.
True, and just like you were saying in an earlier post, inflation makes it seem like not a whole lot of money. Plus, the amount of hours you could potentially spend in a lot of those games make it worth it.

My metric for value of a video game, which by no means necessary is perfect or really reflects the enjoyment you get, is to spend at least 30mins-1hr per every $1 spent. I feel cheated if I buy a AAA game at $60-70 but only get 20 hours out of it. So far by this metric, Death Stranding has paid off, Celeste will definitely pay off as I got about 6 hours into my Xbox copy, Cultic seems to offer a solid 10 hour campaign, only game I’m worried about when viewing it through this metric is Gloomwood but it’s in early access so more content means more hours of playtime.

Okay, I think I’m finally done spending money. I said I wasn’t going to spend much, but eh, who cares about that. Here’s what I got (so far…):

Death Stranding Directors Cut ($14.99)
Hades ($9.99)
Gloomwood ($14.99)
Celeste ($1.99)
Cultic ($7.99)

So, $50 basically. Who needs groceries when you have video games, amirite?
Let me know when you try Hades. Love that game.

I'm looking for one more sale purchase right now. Just haven't hardly bought anything and returned one of the games that I did buy. I'm feeling left out :)

@Pifanjr You know what might be a fun game to play split screen? Madden 24. You don't have to be American football fans or even understand the game. Just take turns being quarterback and receiver. I think it's $14 right now.

Thank you for the recommendation. Summer vacation starts next week and I've taken the first two weeks off work, so more recommendations can't hurt :p.

I've thought trying to find one of the early FIFA games I used to play with my brother, but my kid and I tried Mario Strikers and she didn't care about it much, so I doubt she'd care more about FIFA.

I finally bought Age of Empires 4 (and picked up 3 while it was free yesterday--not sure if it still is today). This is the game I was trying to think of recently that is like a colony sim with RTS combat like Total War.

I feel like calling Age of Empires 4 "a colony sim with RTS combat like Total War" is a perfect example of how useless genre definitions have become.

But it perfectly describes it to me. At least, that's a great description of the tutorial. I haven't gotten past that.

You start off with a base area and a few people, and you have them forage for food and chop trees. Then you build a mill and other things, advance your military and have RTS battles.
