Steam Summer Sale 2025

My backlog is still growing faster than I can play, but I might pick up Noita. I think it's the only game on my wishlist right now that'll be under €10 during the sale and it might be nice for when I only have a short time to play or I want to play something while my kid is awake.

wait the summer sale starts today? honestly i've bought a whole load of games not too long ago so i'm good for now. Sure i have a massive wish/watch list but theres nothing i can think of that screams must buy in the next few days. i've got to deal with my back log before playing yakuza 5. plus my pc isn't that high spec that i can buy the later games, so even less reason to buy for now.

The sale is live now, but their servers may be overwhelmed. I keep getting errors beyond the first page. Unfortunately the item I was most hoping to get only has a 25% discount, so I shall continue to wait....

Clicking on games from the main page seems to work fine. Specific sections like Deep Discounts and my wishlist are finally working but just loading slow. In an hour or so it should be working properly.
I might pick up Noita
It's one of those easy to learn, hard to master games. It's a ton of fun though, however I do use a few mods to make it easier, such as gold automatically flowing to me and drinking water restores health. I've only played about 10 hours so I have barely scratched the surface, but I highly recommend it if you're into roguelike games.

A few games I'm eyeballing here:
  • The Planet Crafter ($13.19), seems like a very fun first person survival/crafting game. Love the planetary exploration.
  • Goat Simulator 3 ($8.99), I've played this on Game Pass previously, it's a really silly yet relaxing game, great to shut off your brain and play after a long day.
  • Peaks of Yore ($8.54), this is a first person climbing game made by someone with a real earnest appreciation for the sport. People say it gets your palms sweaty faster than any other game.
  • God of War ($19.99), I've been wanting to play this for a long time now.
  • Little Inferno ($3.74), oddball pick but I played this game over a decade ago on my Wii U, and I kind of want to relive that experience. Strange game, but short and sweet.
  • Rogue: Genesia ($9.59), people say this is the best Vampire Survivors clone out there, and we all know there are hundreds of them. This combines VS style reverse-bullethell mechanics with a branching roguelike overworld, seems really interesting.
  • Erenshor ($16.99), little iffy on this, I like the concept of an MMO that respects its players time, but the simulated online aspects are very strange to me. Intrigued, but not sure if I'll bite.
  • Big Ambitions ($17.24), like the idea of this game, but never played anything quite like it before.

Alright the Steam summer sales is up. Atm i do have my eye on one or 2 games. namely hades something i've been itching to get but decided to ride it out because of my back catalogue.

i'm also in the market for some doom wads. So stuff like hands of necromancy

i might get crosscode as it seems to be hovering at the 6-7 mark for the complete collection these days, but then again, no rush if it stays there forever i might as well wait.

i might consider ultimate general: civil war as it was one i want to get but price fluctuates.

Will wait and see. Christ, i thought this year i would reduce the amount i spend...

My days of playing Poodle Trainer Simulator are OVER. I filled up on CRPGs and am getting the Final Fantasy VII remake.

@neogunhero if you and I were the same person, I'd feel very sorry for you, but I'd also highly recommend Planet Crafter and Big Ambition. All I can do, though, is tell you that they are both excellent games. Whether that means you'll like them or not is unknown.

Also, V Rising is 50 percent off. Just saying. It's up there with Satisfactory to me, all the way at the top. Everything it does, it does best in class, and the combat is very fun. It can be played SP, Co-op, or on large servers.

So I decided to check out the Summer Sale yesterday and noticed I had a notification, which was just titled "Wishlist Sale" and said that Satisfactory and 1 other game were on sale. When I opened it it just showed me my wishlist which just showed Conquest of Elysium 5 and Satisfactory. I thought for a moment that those were the only games on my wishlist that were on sale, but then I noticed it had a filter "Wishlist Notification Games" and when I removed the filter I saw that every single game but one on my wishlist were on sale, with many of them with much better discounts than those on the notification.

So what's the purpose of that notification? Why pick out two random games? I can't see any logic behind the two that were chosen either, they don't have the best discount, they aren't the most popular games and they aren't the most recent games I've added.

Anyway, there are a couple of games I'm considering getting:

  • Noita - 60% off for €7.59
  • Heat Signature - From the maker of Gunpoint and Tactical Breach Wizards, this has been on my wishlist for 4 years and is currently 75% off for €3.24
  • SFD: Rogue TRPG - A roguelike tactics game that's currently 80% off for €1.31
  • Book of Demons - @Frindis mentioned this recently and I'm a sucker for games that use cards. It's currently 80% off for €4.59

I definitely don't need any of these games considering the size of my backlog, but with these prices I could justify buying one or two.

@neogunhero I second the recommendation of The Planet Crafter. It's not the prettiest game and it's sometimes a bit janky getting around, but the gameplay is great.

So what's the purpose of that notification?
Why it picks which games to divide up into notifications is one of those mysterious Steam algorithm things. For instance, if it included the game Satisfactory, it must have mistaken you for someone with culture, intelligence and legendary virility.

But I think this is designed simply to not overwhelm people when there are sales going on. They will send me notifications with a few games in them, and then awhile later they will send me another notification with a few more games. I've got about 700 games on my wishlist, and I've received one notification so far that included 5 games (none of which I'm particularly interested in).

More than anything, I think it's just to get your attention in case you didn't realize a big sale was going on.

I only know the game from watching some streams about it. But from what I‘ve seen, the game looks like a lot of fun for anyone who loves experimentation and sandboxes.
I know for myself that I love watching such experimental games but as soon as I would try it out, I would get bored after a few hours and it would just collect piles of dust in my library…
I‘ve recently stumbled over the game Chants of Sennaar through a Let‘s Play. It is a kind of linguistic puzzle game where you have to decipher glyphs from unknown languages to make your way up to a tower. I got so captivated by the concept and artstyle that I just had to try it out for myself and I ended up playing through the whole game in one session. Such an amazing game! I loved every second of it.
I can warmly recommend it to any puzzlers and languge nerds out there.
Now, I am desperately looking for a similar kind of game…

This is a much darker game than Chants of Sennaar, but it's a good linguistic puzzle game, too.

That does seem like the most reasonable explanation, just giving you a small selection so you don't get overwhelmed if you have hundreds of games on your wishlist. But then I do wonder how they determine which games to show.

This is exactly why I haven't bought Noita before, there's a good chance I'd get bored of it quickly. It would be really nice if it had a demo, but for €7.59 it's okay if I only get a couple of hours of fun out of it.

I think that’s cheaper than the last time I talked about it! Keeping it on my watchlist.

So many games sitting in my cart, unsure which ones to get. My strategy this year is to add every game I'm interested in playing to my cart, then sorting out which ones I feel I want the most or will actually play the most. That only helped a bit, because now I'm left with six games I feel like I will actually put some time into.

My selection so far is: Pacific Drive, Skin Deep, Peaks of Yore, DayZ Frostline, Riders Republic, Battlefront 2.

I'm sure to find some more games to add to this list, but as for now I'm still deciding. As much as I want to get all the games, of course it will be expensive, and truthfully where would I find time to play everything? I need to be strategic in my choices.

Some temptations....

Want to learn rocket science the fun way? $4

"Control! You must play Control!" --Yoda (paraphrasing) $6

A few very annoying QTEs but mostly a great bit of fun $6

Arkane's swan song. $6

Funny little iso RPG. $7

What I'm playing now (along with BG3) $15
(Talos 1 got a remake that includes the DLC plus a new DLC, but it's still $30.)

Edit: Oh, prices don't show automatically now? OK, easy enough to put them in. All prices are USD.

There's a demo of this one. Personally, as an old school Everquest player, it just hits right. It really perfectly emulates the experience, though it's much more compressed than the actual EQ was, but it feels cool to look at players "online" and be able to invite them to a party and such. I played the hell out of the demo like last year and ended-up picking this up as soon as it hit EA earlier this year. Still haven't really touched it--which is a good reason for me not to buy anything else right now--but I thought it was great fun.

I picked up: Mouthwashing and Khazan The First Berserker.

Theres a lot more I'd like to get but I already have hundred of hours of CRPGs and other games I'm still trying to find time to play.

Mouthwashing is on my list of to play. Maybe I should add it to my cart...

I would like to try Pacific Drive. I keep picking things up and putting them down half finished lately, but its only €10 and its could be the next thing to grab me so I'll probably cave sooner or later.

This one is finally playable since they added a Save & Quit option. Though the performance of the game is still very irritating to me; it runs absolutely terribly on everything, even though it doesn't have the fidelity to actually run as bad as it does.

Currently in my cart, but I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger, given the aforementioned of having tons of stuff I bought but haven't touched. Not to mention, I just picked-up Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night not two days ago.

Seems interesting to me. I love the EGA/CGA graphics coupled with the horror visuals; though the last game I picked up like this (Faith), I've barely touched because I ended-up finding myself irritated with the gameplay.

This one I just want to own on something. I think it's been ported to Vita, so I should probably play it there, but I think it would be a great Steam Deck game.

Just looks like a fun romp. Though it's probably the one I'm least likely to pick-up currently, since it's also the most expensive and I don't really want another first person game right now, since I'm deep into Kingdom Come 2

There is a couple of other games i think i might want.

necrobarista is now for around £3

The room collection for just over £5 both

Lost Judgment - The Kaito Files Story Expansion is now for 50% or a tenner. its the deepest cut we've had. but more relevantly, you can get the entire judgement collection for £21. its the cheapest i've seen it and i would have seriously been tempted had i not bought judgement and lost judgement earlier in the year for £18-£20.

Atm i'm still thinking about getting hades, but i've got a few days before deciding.
