Hello all.

I am new to this forum but not to video games. I have been a game designer in the industry for over 20 years. I really enjoy a lot of different games but have spent the most time with the Dark Souls games and EverQuest/WoW back in the day. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. And I really loved being part of the community back when Unreal Tournament was popular. Hit me up anytime if you want to talk game design/level design. I will continue to reply to other posts. Also I still play a lot of Elden Ring in the endgame so if you want to play, hit me up on PS4 at Tahlyan

Oh I am working on my own game but more on that later.
Thanks,
[Dev] Tahlyan
Ou, how cool are you... I can't believe your intro is real! I enjoy every game in or out of the forum features. Thank you for helping us smile every day 🍭🍧.

Hi there. I spent almost the entire past ten years doing Cleansing the Commonwealth and Quartermastery quests. So this is my resume.
Also, I don´t like whining gamers complaining of every game. I am interested in politics, history and even video games.

Howdy folks. I've been a long time PC gamer since the 90s. I got my start in PC gaming with Wolfenstein and DOOM way back when, and played mostly Strategy, RPG, flight combat sims, and shooters back in the day. These days mostly RPG/Action RPG, and open world which I can get lost in. My favorite games include the Fallout series, Command & Conquer, War Craft 2, Diablo, X-Wing, Skyrim, and most recently Cyberpunk. My current game is Dragon Age. Never did get around to any of them so I started into Origins.

Outside of gaming, I'm an application developer (nerd), play piano/guitar, I'm a bit of a DIY'er (not just building PCs, but also love working on my truck and house projects for the honey-do). I stay active and train 4 days a week in the gym (mostly old school strength/bodybuilding), and mountain bike on the weekends.

The weirdest thing I can think of when it comes to gaming is, how am I just now creating PC Gamer account after all these years?

Hello, folks. Nice to be here.

I'm, as you may have guessed, a bit of a gamer. I know, it's shocking, but it's true. However, unlike most gamers, I spend my time thinking about games, rather than playing them. Classic stuff.

My favorite game of all time is Mega Man X, and I've been hunting since I was 9 or 10 for another game that good. Besides that, I like card games — my favorite digital one being Shadowverse, although it's hard to keep up with it after running out of the new player freebies. I'm also a big fan of classic cRPGs. Lately I've been playing Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and having a ton of fun. BG3 was a slap in the face (in a good way!) to me.

There's not much to say about my real life. I'm a big math guy. I'm a proponent of base-12 counting, and I have an unnatural obsession with calculus, although the algebra really kills me. I hope I can get along with everyone!

Why not hex?
Mostly because we already have words for "eleven" and "twelve" that are obviously not decimal-based (plus we have "dozen" on top of "twelve," which is far less-clearly decimal-based), and we wouldn't need to come up with new words for 3 more unit names, along with their symbols (I am firmly against using plain Latin letters as number symbols; I feel it muddies the waters around variable names). In hex you'd need 13 to have a brand new name based on mostly nothing, while in dozenal, "11" could just be something like "one-do" (one and a "do"zen).

It also works in such a way that existing times tables wouldn't need to be changed in form since they're usually 12x12 anyway.

Yo! I just joined the forums a day or two ago, or maybe more than that. I'm not the best of keeping track of time. LOL. Anywho, used to be active on gaming forums back then. Some have died out completely, others are just holding in there. Always looking to have some conversations about the gaming world first thing in the morning while I sip on some coffee to start the day. :) I like long walks down by the beach. LOL. :p

Hii Everyone,

My name is Sahil and I'm from India and I'm a game dev and part time YouTuber. Currently I'm developing my own game for which I need refference or I need to know the taste of people like what kind of games they like and how they like this project is so close to my heart and I have been working on this project for very long time.

Hi everyone! So cool to see all these beautiful people showing up!

My name is Jonathan. I'm 27 years old and like many members of this forum I suppose, I always grew up with video games. It's hard to say what my very first game was but I think it was Pokemon Stadium on N64. I also remember being chased by dogs on Tomb Raider on Dreamcast!

Today, I have the incredible chance to pursue a childhood dream, that of creating an independent video game studio that would be among the big names! So I'm the co-founder of Yummy Games studio. Even luckier, I have the chance to share this adventure with my brother and 2 childhood friends. We started developing video games around 2017-2018. At that time, we wanted to create an MMO (like a lot of beginner devs ahah) but we quickly realized that this was not feasible. So we decided to make mobile games. It was very popular at the time.
The years go by, the work finally pays off! In 2020 we released Samurai Flash which has been downloaded more than 40 million times (a little joy in this horrible year..).
After that we quickly wanted to move on to something bigger, we wanted to start developing PC and console games (who has never dreamed of seeing their game on the shelves of their favorite games store?).

So we started a game that we called Project Tower at the end of 2021 . After lot of work, in 2023 we were lucky enough to be selected for the PAX Rising Showcase in Seattle. It was a shock for us because we didn't think we would be selected at all! This experience was incredible.. we met a lot of people from PlayStation thanks to Mr Yoshida. By writing these words to you I realize even more how lucky we are.

So today we are about to release the demo of our game Project Tower. It's Sci Fi Bullet Hell TPS in which you play as a prisoner stuck in an alien tower and to regain your freedom, you must reach the top of it. The main mechanic of our game is metamorphosis, you will have to transform into different creatures to achieve your goals. All this in a SF universe inspired by legendary licenses like Star Wars.
We are a small team of 4 people so it's pretty hard sometimes but we'll be participating in the Steam Next Fest in June. We're a little nervous to reveal our game to the world but it's an important step.. We still have a very long road ahead of us but it's so exciting!

I hope my presentation is not too long, I tried to make it short.. ^^
Thank you for reading me, I wish you a good day and good luck for all your projects!

Welcome to the forum :)

cool to see all these beautiful people

Oops, that's my fault for posting a couple of days ago in this thread—sorry I gave you the wrong impression. Sad to say, it's mostly only me—the rest of 'em here are between plain and ugly :D

Project Tower

Great story and congrats to you and your co-devs for getting this far. If you want to promo your game here please email…
community@futurenet.com
…and clear it with them. We get loads of drive-by promo here which is automatically spam-banned, but a nod from on high will circumvent that :)

Hi I just joined and am using the same glc name as I have on other forums.

Ah, I was wondering between display resolution scaling as Windows 10 would allow (100-500%) and the resolution options offered by a game (ex: 800x600 to 1024x768).
Are they just about the same concerning the hit on video card performance?

I mean is scaling just about the same as changing the display resolution, as in, from 2560x1440 to 2048x1152?

Thanks and hope to get a reply

A 4k screen running at 150% scale = same resolution as a 2k screen. I know as that is what windows sets a 4k screen to run at on desktop - I used to have one.

scaling only works for text and menus, it may not work for games. Most of those run at native resolution and ignore scaling.

Hello, my name is Jake.

I was never much of a gamer growing up but I built a pc a couple years ago because I wanted to be able to record music and there were a few games I wanted to try. Unfortunately, I was only able to spend around 650 on everything (Buying a part at a time every other paycheck) and I tend to have to have graphic settings kind of low and some games just don't run as smoothly as I'd like.

Hey Jake, nice to meet you! Building a PC for music recording and gaming on a budget sounds like a rewarding project. It's understandable that some games might not run as smoothly with lower graphic settings, but it's great you've been able to enjoy a few games nonetheless. Have you found any games that run particularly well on your setup?
