Steam Autumn Sale Discussion Thread

Steam Autumn Sale -- September 29th to October 6th @ 10AM PT

PCG Articles:

Anything specific you guys are looking to pick up during the sale?

Spider-Man: Remastered is on sale for only $30. I haven't played this game before, but I know it's considered one of the best exclusives on Playstation, and the Remastered edition makes it that much better for PC. Not a huge superhero fan but I've always like Spider-Man, and the open world web slinging looks so much fun. Very tempted, but going to wait a bit to see if anything else piques my interest more.

It's pretty good, but ultimately didn't really hook me like I hoped it would. I'm not much of a superhero fan either.

Moving around the city is fun, but it still mostly feels like a stock Ubi open world game with all the little tasks to do and things to collect.

I'm going to try not to buy anything. I've spent a lot of money this year already and much of what I've bought, I haven't even even touched yet. Not to mention, aside from Robocop, I'm actually playing something I've had in my library for several years now and I'm not ready to drop it and play anything else yet anyway.

That said, I did see something that looked fun and I'm thinking I may spend the $20 and make my wife play it, so I can watch her. The Sys Reqs are actually low enough that it should run on my HTPC in my Den, so it would be easy to watch.

I was surprised to see Black Myth: Wukong is not on sale. It was in the summer sale. <shrug>

I don't need much to cover me until December. Eternal Strands is tempting me:

Jedi Survivor is good and cheap now

It might be time to try Judgement, a Yakuza'ish game from the same studio

And.... and those are all action RPGs!? Arg. Maybe
Eh. Idunno. Persona 5 has gotten cheap enough to experiment with - I'm dubious that I'll like it after bouncing off Persona 4 so hard.

I still need to go back and finish the first game. Seemed cool enough, but I petered out around Kashyyk or however it's spelled.

I did end-up buying I Expect You To Die, from my previous post, thankfully it runs great on my HTPC (i7-7700/6650XT). My wife actually ended-up playing for a little over an hour, doing two levels, both of which were very fun. It was fun to be able to sit next to her and watch what was happening on the TV and offer advice and she had a great time until we both were feeling too tired to continue going.

Also picked-up this, because it was already in my cart and cheap enough. It's apparently a spiritual successor to Iron Lung, which is great (and I'll recommend here too).

And I also may as well recommend one of my favorite games of all time, as it's at the lowest price it usually goes to:

I've been curious about PEAK ever since I saw a gameplay video from it. It seems like it would be great as the next game to play with my friends once we've finished with Barotrauma, but I'll have to see how interested my friends are.

Subnautica: Below Zero is now below €10 and I currently don't have any games in my library I'm especially excited for, so I might pick that up too.

Forgot about this game, now I'm very intrigued to try it. Very tempting right now.

I ended up buying Peaks of Yore for $11.39

It's a first person climbing game with a nice little story of a bunch of people getting together for a mountain climbing competition. The controls are hard and require a lot of precision, but as you progress you get new items to help the climb like stakes and ropes. You meet a lot of interesting characters along the way, all with something funny and encouraging to say. The game is broken into levels and you return to your cabin between each climb. At the cabin people often stop by to have a chat and you get some small decorations as well as new items. So far it's very fun, I've had my eye on this for a while.
