Asscreed valhalla 165 hrs and the end of the main game is in sight... We've gone back to norway and so that means i can finish up all the things i missed there. England is pretty much done, 99% of the side stuff completed (or the stuff i care about) and the Season 1 DLC stuff (wrath of the druids, siege of paris and tombs of the fallen) all completed. Got myself some sweet gear and hopefully wrap this all up.
Ramp 2024 is also finished as well. just another 15 maps and we've completed the odyssey. I managed to get 2 of the stations completed. As previously mentioned Blue Creek apt station was a set of urban city maps. Some of the more honorable mentions go to:
Grey beret - Ok, the map is E1 M1 of doom 1 so not that special, but what got me interested was the textures. All custom stuff so theres bones for a total conversion/mega wad in there.
imp City - map design wasn't anything special, but what really excited me was the smaller doom cute details. The author actually made gaming keyboards that had strobbing lights. Impressive stuff even if its very minor.
Train trouble - my map of choice. Although not very difficult or long, this was the map i found the most impressive. it played reasonably well, but what stood out was the stuff outside the train as you can see various things like a casino, a motor way with moving cars, a shoreline with light house etc. Something i would like to do in a WAD some day.
So with Blue creek apts completed we moved to The Cyber demon canyon - the hub is pretty impressive as it looks like you're on a cart travelling along a lava tunnel. most of the maps were ok and nothing that excited me but i do have a few honorable mentions:
The lava is Floor - The gimmick is fairly simple. The lava is safe whereas your typical/normal floor texture are the hurt floors. But gimmick aside, its designed well enough and has some interesting battles. The only criticism is perhaps one switch was a bit difficult to find. its fairly obvious if you think about it, but when you first approach it, its just a stone pillar.
Reddish gaming screen - a (dis)honorable mention. a station or 2 back i mentioned empowerpreist 1 - Gully. Well, reddish gaming screen is the secone/sequel map. with a length of 6 and difficulty 6 we were going into a world of hurt. Its a slaughterfest map that's packed full of monsters. 13444(!) of them in fact. there isn't really enough ammo to kill all the monsters and you're only hope is to collect the quad damage and resort to infighting to delay and help you. But the biggest headache is the final encounter where over half of the monsters reside in a huge arena. brutally difficult and it caused my frames to drop. The only way i succeeded was awake monster of the monsters lure them to the start area, get them to infight and using what quad damages i had to pick them off. if i didn't save the ones from the previous encounter i would have been screwed.
but all done now and i can have a sight of relief and do some easy maps...
