is the only way to get a specific affix off a piece of equipment to salvage it and hope for best? My loot filter highlights things I want the powers off but it is hit or miss if the process gives me what I want.
The only other ways I know of is to get them through better buffs like you can with these monolith buffs: https://lastepoch.tunklab.com/timeline/fall_of_the_empire & https://lastepoch.tunklab.com/timeline/the_last_ruin. You can also get specific lenses & prophecy ranks through the Circle of Fortune guild that gives you a better buff to shard drops.

Other than that I think the best way is to get higher up in corruption so you'll have more drops with higher tiers of affixes. Rune of Removal with a glyph of hope I often use together to nail down the best ones on items I find. Occasionally I'll use Rune of Shattering if the tier of affixes is low so I don't spend Rune of Removal on shait.

Pure speculation on my part since I don't use the merchant guild, but maybe it is also possible to search for items with a particular affix and then use Rune of Removal on them.

Spell blade is lvl 59 now, he has already died being impatient to wear a helm in campaign so he doesn't care now. Had one fun monolith where the boss was shredding armour and was summoning insects to do the job... half problem is me remembering what his attacks do. I couldn't remember why I was getting mana back on attacks that don't generate it, build went into another tree and took a skill from there that gives you mana if you use 3 non cost skills in a row.
I don't understand enchant weapon skill. Its meant to give a passive buff but I can't tell if it works or not. Some graphical indication would be nice. When its active it shows 3 spinning balls around the character but its meant to give a passive buff too.

When it works it um... works, This is with it on, but its only active like that if I press button and not for long.

He might have liked this growing up, maybe next mage will

It looks weird though

I probably have enough runes at the moment - are advantages to playing a lot.

So i used a few recovery ones to rescue a few useful affix.

I got bored so I dragged my second spellblade from chapter 4 all the way to the snow. He has a few purple weapons already. Was doing 5k there for a while, but game saw his glass side and started to pick on it, so had to scale dps back to only 4k and add some defences so he isn't a pin cushion for archers. I hadn't ever noticed the guys throwing axes before I played this guy. First area in snow and he was getting taken apart. Now he just used the horn and going to fight the snow boss.n Aim is to not die on Warden... last one got too close.

I have seen lvl 40 mage armour now... its not amazing. He is wearing a lvl 27 unique armour, lucky I managed to save it. I wonder what else is out there.

I used two ascendency runes on my lvl 69 Warlock to see what I would get.
HcpDTpX.jpeg

not a necromancer helm, they get necrotic resistance naturally. Spell blade might like it though... once he gets to 65. dex & intel both buff his attacks. He had necrotic problems before.
Paladin maybe, not really Primalist. Mage for sure...
runemaster sword it would seem, my second spell blade still use it
JZQVl1D.jpeg

that 18% penetration will go a long way.
He uses flame rush to get around.

I wonder how value works, a lvl 65 helm for 575 or a lvl 48 sword for 1250

would you use a rune of recovery to get that purple line or are they impossible?
You can and it is worth it since that affix has the highest tier roll you can get netting you 7 shards back using Rune of Removal. Even better that you only have 2 other affixes so you don't need to spend that many runes. It always sucks when you have to use 3 runes to get the affix you want which is also why targeting blues with a T5 affix is probably better in the long run since blue items can only have 2 affixes.

New mage testing skills. Not bad for 48
IlYaIvC.jpeg

lights there are a buff.
Lights below are the sword
WHHip4c.jpeg

its got electricity crackling along length. Not really a sword for mages, more forge knights
1gIPWfC.jpeg

He gets more from a purple.

easy to forget rogues exist
UREzsUO.jpeg

new mage does first monolith, the "run around until you killed enough to be intercepted" type and the crowd that attacked me were less threatening than the rest of things in stage. To point I didn't notice them. Meanwhile other mage does them and gets attacked by giant beetles.

I have 3 sets of these and had been ignoring them, but while many of the functions don't work, the last line always is as I have no channelling skills. Boots have 18 run speed in top area, and a further 18 from the white line at bottom. . He is flying around at 42 speed now. The intel helps too.
fc5B7aK.jpeg

that ward decay threshold increase helps as well. He doesn't have any way to create it outside of combat. With it his resting ward state is about 300 I think. I seen it over 1100. his only resist below 75 is poison (typical) but I am aware of it, and avoid standing in puddles. I didn't realise cap is actually 150 and its good fire is below that as I get buffs from having it there. Spell called Flamerush now does cold damage. it did electricity for a while, and I wondered if I needed to swap to that, but it going cold makes total sense give n that is damage type I do the most. Ice creates still die to it.
He is still wearing lvl 15 hands. 33% elemental resist is hard to replace.

I've tried to play more but the screen freezing bug is getting me killed more often now.
My Void Knight got respecced to a Maxroll.gg Rive end build and switching from dual wield to a okish blue 2h sword did more damage.

I need a specific unique 2h staff though.

Later...
I did the first Arena and this dropped
214kO0Q.png

The tier 5 shred armour started out as a tier 1 minon damage. Got lucky on my last chaos reroll :)

I haven't seen that one and on an all AMD system. Whatever cause is doesn't seem to happen on 7000 series, but I did see it might not be GPU but CPU instead. Do you have intel or AMD CPU? One person reported it on a 3060 as well. It might be drivers, have you got the latest ones?

Only thing I get is frozen monsters, and mainly from those damned Ice beetles. I hate those shrines... they don't help. they are like escort quests in Sacred. They go looking for things to kill. Often dying in process and just agroing more things I may not have been going to attack.
Not sure I like things that enable themselves without being clicked on. You can just run into the shrines in this game and not know what effect they are until after. Gates at end of monoliths do same as well, get too close and they start... even if you trying to clear area around them first... happened yesterday

I don't appreciate hurry up mechanics, designed to keep you moving..,. moon spire, sun spire... poison spires... sort of suck when you need to stop to fire or recover mana between attacks. something nice drops? tough, need to back track to safely pick it up.

Fishing for helms, I ascended another one last night and got same helm I had received earlier in the night, so both spell blades have them to look forward too. I was looking for the squirrel helm again, but after looking on a unique item database I see its a rare drop. Might take a while to see that again. Most of them fall in the Dark sun timeline on nodes for unique/set items.
Also showed me I have only not seen a few uniques of the choices levelling up. I had most of them. I might still some of them... i haven't looked at every character.

They should be removed after the first starting zones and it is completely unnecessary to have them in monoliths. I guess the same goes with the bees, but the meme is strong with that one so I can live with it.

Occasionally you get a shrine that gives 5 beetles. That is helpful in some cases... one is just a pain. Not often I see the bees one, I think I did recently though

So I tried to remove
wxusQcb.jpeg

the blue text off this item, it let me take both white lines off and then said no more to remove... so I scrapped it thinking it give me rune. I got nothing but sadness in return. Lucky I have another one...
Not in a rush to try again, I assume you don't have to use the item its on, and can move them?

that one meant to work well on paladins in conjunction with healing hands but I put it on and lose life constantly... which makes sense but do I then have to constantly heal self to fix problem? it seems I need more ward retention to stop dying using it.

that is only a tier one version, tier 7 takes up to 20% like this armour

PC says I have seen this before but I don't remember it
cwSIcUW.jpeg

I think flame reave is a spell blade skill. Mine doesn't use it.

Um1qu04.jpeg

tries to remember last time he used Harvest..

I know I haven't seen this before

Experimental affixes cannot exist as shards, so you can't use Rune of Removal or Rune of Shattering on them. You can, on the other hand, make an experimental affix yourself by using Glyph of Insight. Glyph of insight is only possible to get randomly whenever you use Rune of Research on an item and it has a higher chance to drop on the ground when you use Rune of Research on a higher exalted item.

I think you are right there. I had the same problem myself, but I decided instead to jump on an item that gives me ward from kills (2-sec cooldown) which makes me survive most stuff. I don't get the ward for a long time because of not much ward retention but since I speed through the maps, it does not matter that much. At least not on 300 corruption. Anything higher than that, I'd probably start getting more problems with damage over time like poison/bleed.

I finally got to rank 10 on my Circle of Fortune and now we are talking lootdrops galor!

I saved up a lot of fortunes and filled up my prophecies on mostly amulets since I wanted to get a Death Rattle with more than 1LP.
I got two loot explosions so far, none that netted me more than LP1, but I got a couple of new amulets and still got a couple of larger explosions from the Stolen Lance Timeline (which can also give me 30%-75% buff to amu drop rate) to go. This is basically why the prophecies are so amazing when you get it ranked up:

i have one of those on one of my warlocks. I can't remember which one has it .. they all have retention anyway so it just spikes it up over 1000 when it happens. Lich and necro both don't have any skills that let you retain it... meant to use other things to survive... pets or leech... lichs can get life from magic damage and life leech.

I didn't feel like playing any of my high lvl characters and jumping on a low lvl one you forget how to play is one way to get them killed. So I made another Paladin, he in chapter 7 already.

Your typical resists for a Paladin
KfaH4KH.jpeg

Block chance sure helps. Used my 3rd of these all his life
VTGn4c8.jpeg

It was not even started, I just had it in bank.

I get ward on block so just need to get some retention to get some for free. Given I face tank archers and annoy them by blocking almost all their shots, I need the bonus it offers. That slow must be helping too.

he found a unique chest piece I had before, and was glad to find again. He was first made since i deleted 4 tabs by accident. Mostly replaced the space now... and filled with new crap. Lucky most of the things new characters used weren't unique and I had them still. I have 2 tabs of just chests for various classes.

He isn't using any purples yet. I don't have that many low lvl ones.

He had an interesting second chapter. the big purple creatures that fire a beam from their body and jump on you, were invisible the entire chapter. Its only cause I know where to expect them that I had any chance, and using a rive build at time with 4 sword "pets" sure helped as game knows where the things are... I just hear them. I avoided an extra one as I didn't feel like fighting something I can't see. Its happened once before, in a monolith... I wonder if it was same thing. I just left that monolith at time, but well... in chapter 2 I just had to keep going.

Other things were different too. When you play campaign enough you know where things will be... tonight some were impatient and didn't wait for me to get to where they should be. Luckily nothing else has been invisible.

Impressive loot explosions... I think I need to edit my filters as I see too much on some characters.

Guess I should stop ignoring the imprisoned mages, its just some characters I play would struggle to kill the things... so i just leave them alone.

So on my 3rd attempt of using a Rune of Ascendance I got Jasper's Searing Pride then soon after this dropped
RhqDIdp.jpeg

Also got my first ever Weaver's Item
xfglHCi.jpeg

only issue now is I'm doing level 85 monolith's when level 77 and getting some nice replacement items that I can't wear, let alone craft!

I am sure the games chances of dropping something you have made, soon after you made it, are pretty big. It has happened to me on a number of occasions now. Made one of these about a week ago, seen it 3 times since
bNyWdba.jpg

Could depend on rarity of item (I mean how often they drop, not what type of item) as some are more common than others.

Some I would like to see again but only after my 4 tab error. Finding Prism Wraps yesterday makes levelling up a future mage easier

i think I know where I got a lvl 77 item from, a chest near towards end of chapter 5 normally has random high lvl yellows in it. I got a 50 out of it yesterday.

I seen the weavers relics for 3 classes so far. I don't play enough of other two to get one I guess. I haven't seen a necklace yet.

I swear items need to be recorded in a player database before you see another one. I have played... 3 paladins to lvl 50 before and only ever time I have seen a winged helm like this (until today) was in a monolith

qKZdxFO.jpeg

This was first I seen in campaign. Its only a lvl 40 helm, wouldn't think they so rare. Up until chapter 7 or so you only see lvl 30 stuff. Not sure if something needs to be changed to make them more likely.

wish you couldn't get any item in monoliths, I don't need lvl 4 rings. range is everything up to your level, it seems.

paladin being chased by the shrines that release scorpions that have rare affix drops on the items. terrible really. I got a few today, took them off items. Not wasting them any time soon. Fire damage over time was one of them, I think.

shame I don't have a lot of mana
XPDPWz1.jpeg

moving blue lights on it,

was nice to find a new one. I keep seeing the same ones. I got a chest back before I had before I deleted tabs. Slowly getting them back

I wish I could turn verbal warnings off. "I cannot do that" is driving me mad. By time he says it, he can do it... Javelin timer. I would be fine if it just didn't happen, he is bugging me.

Name reminds me of my void knights

It turns out, if you have over 150 physical resist, these shoes do make sense. Paladin wearing them
qWC28tV.jpg

game gave me a few things today I had lost. This was appreciated... one day I make a druid that uses 2 weapons, this and humming bee. How to make ward on a primalist

Maybe next time I make a shaman he can have this

Newest Paladin got to 66. Following guide and not just using latest armour sure makes a difference.

LP4 is "good luck with that" level whereas LP3 is possible... those odds are everytime, so yeah... why is it so good anyway? or is what could be added that makes it good? the red lines?? I assume items have set choices of what red lines can be in there. The weavers seem to be all over the place.

Stopped trying to remake that helm I had. Some helmets have different versions, I have one that rolls at lvl 8 and lvl 50, better stats but it just makes it harder to get new things.

I haven't played today. I not sure I like "end game" as just doing random encounters to get better drops might extend the games life but if it only takes a day or so to reach, its more than half the game. There needs to be some true end. Not just when you have had enough. At least the old games I used to play tried to pretend the story meant something, even if you just endlessly played it.

I like levelling up more than I enjoy end game. It was same with Wow but with that game I had little choice, when I played there were no expansions. 60 was cap, my main sat there for over a year. Can only farm mats for so long. So making new characters became what I did when I got bored... too much focus on end game and not on main... Last Epoch, way more environments in the monoliths could have been in story... jungles? deserts? Unless they in the extra zones between story and dungeons, I haven't seen them. Extra monsters you never see as well. You can't see all of this game without dabbling in the random nature of end game.

I should have noticed before but the guides I followed for my Paladin is just a levelling guide and stops at 70. So since I am 69 I have to choose another one and since he is used to throwing a javelin, he probably choose this and continue

guess i need to look at Warlocks as well. Both choices build on the attack she uses already so I just pick the one that needs less uniques to work.

The minion critical strikes multiplier the amulet has makes it very good for the wraith lord build. When you get the egoism passive point that makes the wraith lord always crit with his attacks, you'll get an insane damage upscaling with the minion crit multiplier and any minion damage for that sake.

I think they need to expand on the end game a bit more because that is the part of the game I think is hurting the most right now. The real end game now is just getting fortune XP to get more prophecies so you can get better drops and then rush through XP tomes/monolith arenas (because this is the best way so far of getting the XP) in very high corruptions to get fast fortune XP and rinse and repeat.

They need to implement seasonal events or minor monolith events like you have with PoE or Diablo 3 to keep the end game more interesting. I also want to see more customizations around the monoliths to make them more interesting perhaps with us being able to craft our own at end game.

They could build more around players like you that is more interested in the leveling aspect of the game and your idea with more environments from the monoliths could have been one way. Smaller events while leveling , transmog options, more low-level gear to choose from and perhaps finding pets or different trinkets on the way would be cool, something to make your character stand out.

I tried levelling a Beastmaster and got into Chapter 4 and then found my Summon Wolf was only summoning one wolf not two today.

No idea why but there was a patch yesterday so they may have introduced a bug
