I'm about 15 hours into Silksong. its a really good game, tough but fair and the movement moment to moment just feels really good when you start picking up the abilities. Of course the art is fantastic, although I havent enjoyed the music quite as much as Hollow Knight, maybe just needs more time to work its way in.

A couple of the boss fights go on a bit too long for my taste. Sister Splinter and Moorwing both have very simple movesets which are all fairly easy to counter. What makes them hard is that you have to execute the same dodges and punishes for a very long time. To the point where I was wondering whether Ive missed some weapon upgrade I was meant to pick up, which apparently I havent. No idea how far in I am but I hear its massive. At the moment the good is far outweighing the frustration, but lets see how that goes as we move along. Took me 7 years on and off to beat Hollow Knight, I have time.

Still playing Pathfinder WOTR. Turns out Crusade mode is pretty involved and required in act 3. Its not too taxing but its not exactly brilliant either, Id kind of rather not but I appreciate the ambition in a way. The story and party combat remain pretty good and I want to know where this is all going so will continue.

Would you say silksong is harder then hollow knight? there's no doubt i'll get the game, but maybe leave it for a bit whilst a few more DLC gets added. Don't want to go back at a later date to sort out unfinished business.

Nice. I got Goblin Gloves at 50 and a wall decoration at 90. I just hit 90 this morning as took a break yesterday. Got 12 challenges done, might try for 20.

Flamewood Totem build is absolutely amazing. Really tanky and the totems have to taunt to trigger the Flamewood part. It's also really cheap. probably 2 div and I was handling tier 12 red maps and I suspect could go much further. Not having to have a 6 link means that you don't have much pressure on sockets.

Almost certain I'll play this again, probably Chieftain based in next league.

i might have a look at that build and see what its like. i'm not a fan of minion or totem builds but the latter i like experience in. The only time i played chieftain was probably using rightous fire. But i've been playing 2 berserker melee builds (volcanic fissure of snaking before it got nerfed and earthshatter).

But its immensely appealing that the skill doesn't need 6 links. Did you use a particular POB build?

Wife is going to be gone pretty much the entire day on Saturday so I'm trying to figure out what to do. I could game all day... expect I don't have games that will hold my attention for that long. Then I thought maybe I can use this time to install Linux to my PC. I'm still waiting for better Windows game compatibility but as far as I can tell, it is vastly improved year over year, making most games playable on Linux now. That still does not include the fact that some games may require community made scripts or installers, but I'm certain any time I run into that sort of issue, there will be a guide on how to overcome it.

If I go through with it, it will definitely be a dual-boot situation. I will also have to choose a distro and desktop, and for that there are a trillion recommendations. One idea I had was just to follow Valve's footsteps and go Arch with KDE Plasma for desktop. They trust it to be reliable enough for their hardware so it wouldn't be a bad choice, but I also do know some distros and desktop environments can be much more complicated than others. It will take a very long time to get over the fact that I can just install stuff with a command line. But I'm starting to get very peeved at Microsoft as a whole for a myriad of different reasons, and I enjoy the idea of actually owning the hardware and software you use.

I think so, but I also found Hollow Knight pretty tough in the beginning. Ive already got a dash and wall climb, just need the double jump and whatever else that might be coming. Movement is better and more nuanced in that you can grab onto ledges and Hornet does some flips and smaller movements that feel good when you're bouncing off of enemies heads etc, but also the levels are harder to navigate than HK. It's also possible to switch up weapon and dash movesets, I have one alternative already, but the stock moveset has the downward jump attack as a diagonal dive which takes some getting used to especially when youre bouncing off of things to stay in the air.

The enemies in general are a lot harder to predict and tend to jump and have more moves than HK, when you add that to the level design being harder to navigate with spikes and disappearing platforms and more, then yea its definitely harder now Ive typed all that out lol.

I tried out the Cupiclaw demo today. It's fairly similar to Ballionaire, but it's claw machine themed instead. Each round you get a limited amount of time to grab as much as possible, trying to get enough money to meet a quota. After each round, you can add or upgrade one type of item available in the claw machine. After 5(?) rounds you need to grab a key to be able to advance to the next floor, which will also give you a passive bonus.

It's pretty straightforward, but a bit too simple for now. The full game supposedly will have more items and bonuses you can get though, so I might check it out again once it releases.

That does look fun, actually. I think I might need to give it a spin.

I'm still on Blade of Agony, though I didn't really play any yesterday. I'm on the second mission, deep into it and boy it's gotten challenging. I'm lacking any ammo for anything and the Germans just tear me to pieces. I managed to scrounge up some ammo and get a few kills, firing judiciously (as judiciously as I can on a Steam Deck) to collect some more ammo, but it's tough.

I think I'll get through it, but didn't end-up playing much yesterday. I also keep meaning to play the first DLC for The Case of the Golden Idol and I've done the first part of it, but it hasn't grabbed me just yet; guess I need to keep at it.

That's what the execs say when they realized how much time and money has been thrown at this game. AAAAHHHH!!!

yeah at this rate star citizen is just not going to get finished. I'm surprised the staggering amount of money thrown into it. Could have done the world a lot of good. I wouldn't be surprised that by the time the game is finally finished, humanity could travel to the stars or we as a species would have transcended.

It's getting close to $1 Billion USD which is an absolutely staggering amount of money. It could have been used for so much more, instead it's used on a video game that may or may not ever fully come out. I wonder what the development situation is like. Is the majority of the team the same people from when it started or have they had to cycle through developers? I don't know the first thing about video game development but I feel I'd be burnt out on the entire thing if I worked on it since the start.

I don't fully understand the "crowdfunding timeline" histogram on their website. If you change it to Hourly, it appears that they've made $17,489 USD in the past 24 hours alone. Who keeps throwing money at them?? IIRC, there is an in-game economy where players can buy ships with real money so that probably explains it.

I based it on a build I found from the first Phrecia event. This https://pobb.in/XTkDSSfXUs77 is a Path of Building that I setup that has 10 steps so you know what nodes to take as you level up. You can just straight import that into PoB.

These are my notes about how to level. The most annoying this is you have to kill Hillock twice if you want to level using holy flame totem before Act 3 as you need to use a Templar or Witch upto Breaking The Eggs quest to acquire the necessary gems.

You could go melee but your early skill tree would need to be different and you would need to respect after you buy the necessary gems from Siosa in the Library,

I'll redo this as a Chieftain variant in the next regular league but that's more based on getting 90% max fire resistance and using Cloak of Flame to convert 40% physical damage taken to fire and later on being block based with an Elder influenced Shield that has recover 3-5% life on block

Gamed a good bit this weekend. On Saturday I put about 5-6 hours into Warhammer 40K Darktide on Game Pass and I was having a blast with it. I bought and refunded it on Steam before, thinking I wouldn't be into it, and I'm kind of glad I did. Once I finish the campaign missions and some events, I don't know how much more I'll play it. It seems to be heavily focused on builds and minmaxing, at least for the long-term players, none of which interests me. For now I'm having lots of fun playing it casually.

I'm playing an Ogryn and focusing on melee. It's so satisfying wiping out hordes of enemies with a large melee weapon. Most players I encounter and good to play with, stick together and don't try to speedrun the map as fast as possible which is an issue with these kinds of games. L4D2 is the worst with this type of playstyle, but then again that game is like 15 years old. Anyways, just about everyone I played with worked as a team and made the matches much more enjoyable. I'm about 8 campaign missions deep, so I think I'm almost done with the main missions.

Only issues I've had with the game is some stutters and weird performance drops. Apparently this is common on AMD GPUs. A few tweaks in the Radeon software, including forcing FSR 4, and it runs like a dream. I hover around 100fps on Medium-High settings. It supports latest Frame Gen too, though that makes high-action moments look blurry. FSR4 Native AA looks amazing.

After that I checked out The Crew Motorfest. I played The Crew 2 before and loved its huge map and lightheartedness, though I found the gameplay to be a bit lackluster. Motorfest feels a lot better to play, but the mission structure is kind of confusing at first. It's kind of a knockoff Forza Horizon, but I think it cranks the fantasy element up further, creating it's own identity. Throughout the map you'll find colorful neon lights, massive ramps and loops to take on, directly in contrast to Horizon's often boring realistic worlds. It's a goofier game for sure, but that is all for the better if that is what you're looking for. It does suffer from the typically awful Ubisoft dialogue though, but I always see that as like watching a B-movie that's so bad it's good. At least it's not as annoying as Borderlands.

Ghost recon wildlands i'm still plodding along bolivia just exploring all POI and i've moved into my first 5 star difficulty area. This one is especially challenging as i'm going after unidad (the elite fighting force) and most of my weapons are a bit weak. Like my fav/reliable sniper rifle doesn't kill with one shot. The Ghost recon AR from uplay rewards is still good, but against unidad its a tad weak. But look for another weapon.

The Ai whilst competent is still impressively rubbish when shooting from vehicles. Annoyingly since i'm playing alone, i'm the driver and watching the AI use the minigun is depressing i would prefer they target the driver/passengers shooting at me rather then whatever the hell they're shooting at.

Other games i'm starting bravely default on the 3ds and its... ok for now. Early days so i'm hamstrung as to what i can do. I'll keep grinding a bit and then make a mad dash to the location to complete the objective.

This side scroller

Stutters and is really laggy on a 9800x3d with a 5090 in it, there is no reasonable reason why a side scroller runs bad on a PC with those specs.

Mario managed to run smooth 20+ years ago.

I can't speak for the full game, but the demo ran at the locked 60 FPS with no stutters for me. Actually, I thought the demo was pretty fun.

What a hilarious concept for a game, I love it. I'm certain there's plenty of people that will review bomb the hell out of it when they find out.

Haven't been playing a ton lately. I did start playing Typing of the Dead via Dreamcast emulator on my tablet, which spurred me to buy Typing of the Dead: Overkill on Steam for like $6, which is actually pretty funny. Only played one scene from that so far, because I'd rather play the emulated version right now, since it's easier to pick-up and put-down. But Overkill seems quite hilarious and very tongue-in-cheek campy.

I also started experimenting with Old School Runescape, something I've never tried before. I got off the tutorial island and am in the main world, but am still a pleb, given I've only played maybe an hour or two so far. I dunno if it'll stick with me, as I'm not big on sandbox MMOs, since I usually have no idea what to do. But it seems fun enough to experiment with for now.

By the way, if there are any keyboard only people, this is one of those games that tells you it's best with a controller, but it's fine on KB/M.

A heartfelt thanks to the devs. Having declared it a controller game, they could have FromSofted the kb/m, but they obviously put real effort into it. For instance, you can do 2 types of jumps with the spacebar, and it worked very well. I never accidentally did the wrong type of jump.
