Need help picking a gaming laptop – what should I actually focus on?

Hey everyone, I’m planning to buy my first gaming laptop but I’m honestly a bit lost with all the specs and options out there. I’ve looked at a few models but I keep getting confused about what actually matters most for smooth gaming performance.

For someone who mainly wants to play modern games without constant lag or overheating issues, what specs should I really be paying attention to? Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve already been through this 👍

There's a saying, cut your clothe according to your needs, generically asking the community what you should look for in a laptop is very vague. This is why we ask for more details, to provide a tailored response.

show us what you have looked at so we have a starting point.

Shame most of the laptops only have 8gb vram on them. You have to get a system with a 5070 TI or higher in it to get more. For instance

8gb vram is really below the minimum I would accept. 12 or 16 are better provided games don't keep wanting more. There are already games that struggle on 8gb

16gb of ram would also be the minimum I would get - most of the ones on 2nd row of the link above have 32gb which is better still.

I don't know a lot about laptops but I am sure someone will think of something.
