Hello PC Gamer. I’m a AC fan girl from Vietnam 🇻🇳. I saw MHaag's post on PC Gamer forum about g.a 3 keys AC Valhalla Gold Edition. First of all let me thank MHaag, PC Gamer and those reading this, for giving AC fans the chance to experience AC Valhalla using their sensory writing skills. Also I want to share my thoughts about the AC game that I love the most - AC Unity. Because I am not good at English, I will use app translation, hope you can sympathize and read this article. Thank you :>
I used to write an article like this on a website with the nickname Kelly Hoàng Anh. So if you see a post about AC Unity like the one below, that's me.
Like I said, I really love AC Unity, an AC Unity fan girl :> Although AC Unity is criticized a lot, I always love it for the following reasons:
A BEAUTIFUL WORLD
The fire of Notre Dame was a disaster, but also a blessing for gamers. Thanks to that, we can experience the 2014 game but the stunning graphics released by Ubisoft for free. It's no exaggeration to say that AC Unity is a game with graphics ahead of its time. So far, I still find 2014 game prettier than other 2019 games. I often joke with my friends that "Playing Unity means you don't need to go to France". AnvilNext has been greatly improved in AC Unity, changing all lighting effects, day-night, water, environment,... and many other things to bring the most authentic feeling to gamers. With the 1: 1 ratio, the city of Paris comes to life, with different colors and ambience. It was like being in Paris. With AnvilNext, I can visit Notre Dame Cathedral, Pantheon Temple, Saint-Denis Basilica or explore Paris's famous catacombs.
Coming to each place, I feel their distinctive atmosphere and landscape. These are the serene suburbs of Les Invalides, the ruin and old age of Saint-Denis, the filth of the dangerous slum Cour des Miracles, and the bustle of cafes. How do you feel the distinctive atmosphere of each area? I recognized Les Invalides through pastures and old-fashioned country houses. I recognized Saint-Denis through the gray sky and old houses. I recognized the Cour des Miracles through the filth and lump of houses. Ah I mention home a bit. But you know, after all these years since Assassin's Creed's release, we can freely go in and out of people's homes and do whatever we want. It sounds funny, but I like AC Unity because I can run into the house to look at the NPCs, and hear people booing because some weird hooded guy burst into their house and then disappeared.
Every Assassin has a place to return to rest. Our Arno has a mansion built next to a Cafe-Theatre and Assassin's Guild headquarters. Return home, read Elise's letter, watch the scenery, watch a drama or have coffee. Tired from the bloody street battles have disappeared, sip coffee and then go back to travel the city!
THE BESR GAMEPLAY IN THE SERIES
A good game must have 3 elements: plot, graphics and gameplay. With the extremely bullshit storyline, AC Unity has given itself the remaining 2 elements completely and perfectly. Sometimes I think, AC Unity is not conveying the French Revolution, but the gameplay revolution of Assassin's Creed.
Parkour in AC Unity is really cool. We have thief vault, cat leap, driving kong (this is rarely done),… In general, any movements in AC Unity are best simulated from real life movements. Honestly, no AC game has ever surpassed AC Unity in terms of parkour. Not too tight like Altair and Ezio, not rushing like the Kenway family, not too dependent on the hook, so parkour was neglected at AC Syndicate, not jerked like Bayek and Kassandra/Alexios. Arno acts in a smooth, slow, but not too slow manner.
Along with parkour is the stealth of AC Unity. Talking about AC Unity is about AC game with the best stealth. Arno has a lot of good interactions and mixed skills. He could crouch, which the Assassins of the past could not do on their own, but had to go into the bushes, hiding himself from the watchers eyes. He can blend in many ways: sneaking into the crowd, sitting on a bench, helping fix the trolley, standing in for a conversation, even picking up money with the people. Unfortunately, Arno does not whistle (but it is too OP :v) and does not carry. In return, Arno is equipped with a ton of toys and it will be effective depending on how it is used.
It's about parkour and stealth, what about the combat system? One thing that I really want to thank Ubisoft for is that they removed the counter-kill mechanism in AC Unity. Now the E button can only parry, no more E to win (ah actually still combines the E button with some other buttons but… nevermind). How Arno fights depends on the player's agility and fighting skills. Unity's combat is not as simple as spam light attack and E. With 5 weapons with the same skill tree, players have all kinds of simple and complex combos to handle 5 different types of soldiers. Arno combines the bloody spatter of the Kenway family and the splendor of the art of murder by Ezio Auditore.
My point is that once you get to grips with the most basic combo of the game - Staggering Strike and Ground Execution - you don't have to be afraid any types enemies, even the other AC parts. Arno is often criticized for being weak, but I think Arno is a combination of the strength of the Kenway family and the elegant magnificence of Ezio. Seeing how he crushed his throat or cracked his neck with one hand, Arno wasn't weak, he was just fighting artfully like Ezio did.
About the skills tree. Quite a few people criticize that this feature is really unnecessary, because the previous Assassins did not need to improve their skills to double assassinations or shoot guns. I think this is not entirely true. The Skills tree is a way to show the player that Arno is more mature and experienced through each quest, rather than dressing up and becoming an assassin without training like someone else <(“). Remember, Arno joined the Assassins Guild in July 1790, first fought in January 1791. Well, there are five months apart to officially become an Assassin, so what more do you hope for? An assassin trainee? Ubisoft has skipped the process of training things, in return they put in the skills tree and the skills stick to the storyline quest progress. Sure, Ubisoft wants to turn Arno into a second Ezio, not a second Edward Kenway.
SIDE ACTIVITES
Paris Stories, Murder Mysterious, Nótradamus brain twisting puzzles, or co-op quests. Many quests are not rated for quality, but not most of them are of poor quality. I still remember the feeling of being reeling and rather stubborn to drink holy water during the Flamel alchemist's quest series, track down Saint-Just's human leather shirt, rescue the prostitutes, or help Napoleon and Josephine. True to the name Paris Stories, this side quest series gives players a lot of information about this peaceful and romantic city of Paris. Because somewhere in the city, the murderers are still messing around, the bodies are still lying there and haven't been taken away. It is then that Arno uses the intelligence he unknowingly put it away in the Story, to solve the Murder Mysterious conundrum scattered across Paris. See every clue leading to the porn writer Marquis de Sade? Servant Olivier does it. Are you looking for a solution to a strange death at the Tuileries Palace? It sounds like Red Ghost, but the culprit is a descendant of the legendary red ghost of the Tuileries Palace. Not only the cases, but the Nostradamus Enigmas are also challenges to train your brain and memory. A variation of the glyph, strange characters that appear throughout Paris are the key to opening the cellar door that holds the assassin Thomas de Carneillon's outfit. Solving all th puzzles without any help is indeed very good.
CO-OP
In addition to these individual missions, AC Unity also offers us a series of co-op missions to connect with hundreds of thousands of people around the world or team up with close friends. The AC Unity plot did not bring the French Revolution to the player, but the co-op quests did. Meet historical figures, break Templar's evil schemes, listen to interesting historical information,... Not only that, co-op allows 4 friends to join in one person's session, run all over Paris, fighting with the soldiers, posing for photos of all kinds,...
It is this co-op mode that highlights the game name: Unity. Co-op, a really cool mode, that pulled AC Unity together. The first game, and perhaps only one, has a co-op mode.
How to bounce your friends about the game plow
HOW TO BOUNCE YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THE GAME PLOW
AC Unity is quite difficult for completists, especially collectibles. You have collected all the chests that appear on the map, and it says you still have a few more? Yeah, unlike the previous ones, when you just open the viewpoint, buy a map and everything will appear in front of your eyes. AC Unity will force you to run around the map and turn on eagle vision to find hidden collectibles. Yet hidden collectibles is not the biggest problem yet. To get the whole artifact, you will have to pray for your dignity a little luck when finding the artifact in the Helix Rift. I spent the whole afternoon finding enough artifact and getting the Altair outfit, while a friend of mine was not so lucky (and he gave up). But when you finish the game 100%, you hit a milestone that few people have. And what are you waiting for without showing off to your friends?
AND FINALLY, ARNO DORIAN
Because AC Unity is my favorite game, of course I also love the main character, the dumb guy Arno Dorian. Arno was created as the second Ezio, from a traumatic past to a tragic love affair. If the AC Unity storg doesn't bullshit as we know it, it's very likely that Arno will get past Ezio's shadow. A human being, standing in the midst of the turn of times, between the Assassins Brotherhood and the Templar Order. Could anyone notice the curse of loneliness that has stuck with Arno all his life? The loss of a father, a teacher, a lover, and the loss of the glory that was once held by previous Assassins. Arno is in darkness, with a calm and mysterious, just like his nickname "ghost of Paris". We don't know what Arno's life would look like in the future, but at least we have some consolation, Arno has descendants. I will write more about this blue-shirted Assassin, but in another post.

For myself, AC Unity is a revolution, not the French Revolution in the game, but the total revolution in Assassin's Creed series. Graphics, gameplay, game interactions,... what appears in AC Unity is an innovation. As a friend of mine once said: If AC Rogue was the only AC title to come out in 2014, then next year AC Unity would be a blockbuster, which would come out of the shadow of Ezio Auditore and become the best Assassin's Creed game. But the thing is, people have experienced this 2014 spray bomb with all kinds of disparaging words. And I will always keep AC Unity in my heart, and will direct others to see AC Unity from my perspective, to perceive the other good points. I'll close here, thanks again for reading my post. Have a good day PC Gamer :>
