Steam Winter Sale 2024

I grabbed a bunch for the fall sale so I wasn't expecting to add anymore to the 3,720 or so titles in my library from the winter sale. But here I am. I wasn't holding hope that Dragon Age: Veilguard would get a decent sale for the holidays being a recent release, but I was enticed at the 35% off price so I grabbed it, and also grabbed a few other cheap titles along the way.

Dragon Age: Veilguard (35% off)
Batman - Akrham Origins (90%)
Ace Combat: Skies Uknown (90%)
Mortal Kombat 11 (90%)
The Division - Underground (75%)
Gears 5 - Hivebusters (67%)

I was also hoping Ghost of Tsushima DC would get a better discount, but it's still more than I want to spend. I upgraded the original release on PS4 to the DC PS5 edition some time ago for $10 or so and was going to do a replay, but when I heard it was getting a PC release I decided to hold off for a good sale. Might be a while at this rate.

I've been waiting years for it, but I'm finally grabbing wasteland 3. I loved 2 and I hear three is even better. Apparently it has a bit shorter and tight story and is a better over all design as they took the feedback from 1 and improved it.

I also grabbed a few point bargins for a couple dollars each, black mirror and a golden wake are classic point and click. (Made in classic styling) and one called Emerald confidential, this one doesn't have object puzzles it's a talk tree, where you navigate the story to further your quest. These are rare but I enjoy them. The first of the five Blackwell chronically was like that and I loved that one, the next four were classic style but the whole series is really good and a bargain for the bundle 10.50 if anyone is interested.

And soeaking of bargins, Midnight sun's I'd just 9 dollars!

Though I would recommend the complete version 20 dollars but you could always grab the season pass if you enjoy the game. There are a bunch of skins that unlock with the pass or complete so soon need to spend more unlocking the individually. The four dlc character all have a mini story based arc that are quite good, while I don't use them much they are all good. Then again every character in the game is pretty solid, but some mesh better with other and certain strategies with how the game synergieses. There is a degree of tank, damage, buff, heal, but it's not really the classic roles as every. takes damage and deals it out well. It's a card game that plays out in turns, here is also, Move, and environmental dame and tons of knockback for added chaos.

This game is an all time great for me and a very good possibility of knocking one of my top 10s of all time. Is has a social/friendship side that I did enjoy for a couple if plays, but being on my 5th play it was time to just skip it. You loose a bit of friendship level. There are also social clubs that have some reward bonuses, but neither are really need as there are a whole bunch of difficulty setting and the game scales well so even end game you can take a squad of maxed friendship or lvl 1 and still beat missions. So if that part doesn't mesh well with you, skip away. Also don't upgrade every mission it can get tedious, unless of course you like that sort of thing. If you a super hero, turn base fan I highly recommend it.

Havent even played everything from the last sale, but now I seem to have Gears 5 in my cart for €10.

Other then that there some stuff I'd like to get but I still have a fair amount to get through before I'd be ready to play it and nothing is a burning need to play I dont have already

Don't let that stop you, I must have 30 games I've bought and haven't gotten too. On that list Syberia 3, pathfinder kingmaker, pillars of eternity 1&2, disco elysium and the Witcher 3. That'd off the top of my head, there's a lot good of Stuff, point and clicks hidden object, starts and rpgs. But i just had to grab wasteland 2 ive been iching to play it and was going to pkay 2 again but said naa im geabbing 3!, Also a2 dollar point and click is great investment for a rainy day. ;) I just love games you can finish in 3-8 hours

I was quite gutted that of the 6 games I hoped would get discounts, none did (they are Rings of Zilfin, Encounter, Legions of Ashworld, The Sea Will Claim Everything, Air Twister and Rainbow Cotton).

So I took the opportunity to get a few more of the Toaplan re-releases: Slap Fight (one I liked best), Fixeight, Hellfire and Outzone, as well as the previous mobile exclusive (G-Mode Archives+) from Cave: DoDonPachi DaiOuJou DX.
Still mulling over Super XYX, Zakesta-Z and Kaikan.

I have not heard of a single one. Either you are really good at finding off the beaten path stuff, or I'm out of touch.

Either way happy gaming!

Indeed, I tend to enjoy finding more obscure games, namely for more original, even if less polished, experiences. You go through a lot of dross sometimes but when you find a gem it's all worthwhile.
Thanks

Yea, hidden gems are great to find. I play a lot of point and clicks, along with visual novels. Some I'll bet didn't sell 10k copies and loved um. VNs by winter wolves and point and clicks from wajet eye. :)

I found a unique city builder demo called foundation that seams really promising too

Ah yes, there you go then.. I'd never heard of the ones by Winter Wolves.
Wadjet Eye ones are great. I still haven't played Hob's Barrow... and it is on the winter sale..

Just tried to make a post with the highest discount games by user reviews in the most popular categories.

Boy, was that frustrating, mostly because of the categories. I finally decided I wasn't going to check each game to see if it was properly categorized and gave up.

You mean the Steam categories? Yeah, those are insane. Space & Flight Sims has Gal Civ 4 right at the top, but that's a 4X game it's not a simulation at all. Also near the top: Kaiju Princess 2, a hentai game. Whatever algorithm they are using, it hasn't ever worked - and it has been around for years!

been browsing for games to buy and there are a few things i want to buy. The main one (for 2.35) is galaxy pass station. A sort of papers please + management game. looks promising.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1571990/Galaxy_Pass_Station/

might buy like a dragon legendary hero edition for £9.10 but... i feel like i should wait a bit. Perhaps it might be in the epic giveaway or something...

I added another, C&C remaster is 2 dollars. I want to play it for the cut screens. I'm hoping the new updates has an easy mode and improved gui makes it enjoyable. I tried the original and it wasn't my thing. 25 years ago when I was into starcraft I would of liked it. Now it's to tedious, but I want to see the story! For 2 bucks I took a chance

Just recently picked up;

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb

All the DLC for Hitman World of Assassination I didn't already have.

Choo Choo Charles

And to complete my son's Quantic Dream collection I got him Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy and Omikron: the Nomad Soul with a copy of Hogwart's Legacy for good measure.

Wait...I feel something...it's like I'm a mentalist about to channel an entity...it's...it's Microsoft and Bethesda's hopes and dreams. They want a word with you: "WTH! You bought all these Indiana Jones games, but not The Great Circle!"...oof...it's gone now. That was draining...

Well, I DID buy Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but this is a Steam Winter Sale discussion and I didn't buy it from Steam (though it activated on Steam).

So the steam sale is about to end and so far i've not bought anything. Epic has come up trumps with some awesome stuff like Dredge, hot wheels unleashed and that knight game meant i'm walking away with free games.

Speaking of free games? Anyone giving away free stuff. i could do with more...

but i might buy something in the next day or 2. something cheap and cheerful.

This is my most played game since 2020. I highly recommend it, especially if you like parady. It doesn't make fun of the rpg genera, but it also doesn't take it to seriously, there will be groans and I laughed out loud more than once. An inept band of not so bright want to be heroes, held together with shear force of will or lack there of.
Top it off with a great VA performance by Felicia Day of the guild as The Wizard.

Warning, the games theme is the god of fail, which means, dodge/parry and some one shots will happen but it goes both ways, after all your inept adventurers. I find it adds to the fun as there is also a mechanic called randiomonia which fills faster every fail, parry dodge ect, which let's you use an extra heal, attack, Move or group heal which can really change things in your favor or of course fail that extra attack. It's that kind of fun that makes it great. :)

It's also manipulative. "Sure, you can remove this curse - but you won't get the achievement for making it through the rest of the game with the curse!" They knew just where to stick the knife. ;)

Are you talking about absolute expertise? If so that's a different curse. I did di a run with keeping it and the priestess as the joiner. It added lots of humor listening to the ranger drool over her with thar goung on.

Crap i haven't played the game in like a year. Don't get me sucked back in I'm trying to dent my backlog!
