Deus ex was one of the best games in 2000. i played the demo and loved it so much that i bought the game the next day. its one of the few games that i've actually completed multiple times.

So to see the remaster and... its such a waste of potential. i expected better then a reskin with upscale graphics etc. i think it was in line for a complete remake. lets face it even in 2000 some of the mechanics were dated or flawd as hell.

The game deserves better and this feels kinda lazy, should have taken the night dive system shock (1) approach to remaking the game. Something familiar but mechanically improved. perhaps even remaking entire levels and making it more like human revolution/ mankind divided maybe.

yeah, not exactly impressed by the "remaster". i'm getting the GTA remaster vibes all over again.
There are a few things that make me excited for it, graphics not being one of them. The revamped UI for controllers is interesting, I wonder if that will also include revamped UI for mouse and keyboard. Using the F key row for the augmentations was always my least favorite part of the game to the point where I sometimes will forget to use augs. Ragdolls are always cool, especially if you like to play stealthy and need to move bodies around. Besides that, not sure what else is new besides the graphics. I hope Aspyr will take all the criticism it's getting and rework it a bit.

Id really tempure my expectations on a remaster
They are generally just tweaks to modernize the game slightly and the main reason is to release them for a specific console. . This game is so old and engine is quiet limited. they just add the comp release for comps because its easy.

Its like when the remaster for life is strange dropped and people lost their minds screaming cash grab, but all it was, was the ps5 release. Anything past getting it working on a console or pc with updated resolutions is most likely unrealistic.

There are a few that updated the games a bit like the bg enhanced or mass effect but really they just tweaked the games, more like polish than any sort of remake. Just getting them running on a new console is enough for me, any extra is just bonus.

The Deus Ex remaster looks absolutely terrible. Regardless of whats being done to it and when the original game was released. Its not even done by probably one of the only companies that does remasters rather well which is Nightdive Studios. System Shock 2 being the latest one.

The game IS coming out on Steam but even the stores main picture makes the remake look terrible imo. Sad to see and they want 30 for it? Id rather play the original for 2 bucks if this is what its going to look like.

What did look good at the state of play is Marvel's Wolverine. Although PC wont get that right away, it is scheduled to be released for it sometime after. Im not a marvel fan at all but that game looks like itll be a bloody good time.

Path of exile and i have finally got the 27 of the 28 challenges done. A bit of patience for one of them and splashing some quick cash for the second one. The latter for some reason cocked up so i was one short of target for the challenge but a quick purchase and i was back in the game.

So what next? i currently have 2 target challenges. One, is more luck based where i have to wait for the right thing the spawn, i've done 11/15 so just for 4 more people. Only problem is that they aren't spawning and its pissing me off. i don't know what triggers them. i play the hardest content and they don't appear, play easier content and they materialize. Repeat the latter process and they've stopped appearing...

the other challenge will require more work but is slightly more predictable. Only problem is that there is an element of luck as well but we'll worry about that later as i do have other possible things to work on.

fingers crossed something happens or i might have to keep working at it till mid october...

it reminds me a mix between rocksteady's arkham knight series and also maybe prototype. Would love to see more of this, maybe see more numbers and extreme content like fighting choppers etc.

That did look awesome. I'm not a huge superhero fan but Wolverine has always been one I liked a lot. The movie Logan was amazing as well. I'm glad to see the game take a somewhat more serious tone like that movie.

I saw the Gameplay Reveal trailer, but it had maybe 2 seconds of actual gameplay in it. It indeed reminds me mostly of the Arkham games and maybe the Shadow of Mordor/War games. It looks interesting, but definitely not something I can play where my kid could see it...

The Deus Ex Remaster is just a remaster. More polygons on the stuff, higher rez textures, hopefully a little higher quality audio and cutscenes - but I expect it to be the same game. It's no NightDive remake. We've only got videos, too. Somebody might have cranked up the bloom setting on us.

Anyway, I've been doing a little farming to try and get my Elden Ring character an outfit that doesn't make her look like a murder hobo. I've been farming some Nox maidens for their stuff. 3 or 4 hats, 3 or 4 torsos, one pair of boots, and no leggings at all. Ugh. Eating silver bird feet doesn't seem to help noticeably. I think I'll just stick with what I've got.

A video also pointed out a big area I missed in one of the river areas: the Something-or-other Aqueducts. It hasn't been very big but one of the crucible knights was quite a bother. The boss fight seemed like it would be a cakewalk until the SECOND boss walked in! I finished one boss and got the other down to half health in one run, but mostly I die before I can even take one boss down. I gave up after an hour - I'll come back later.

It's no NightDive remake.
Apart from the unpleasant graphics, I think this is where a lot of frustration comes from. Night Dive takes a more meticulous approach to their remasters, going over every single feature of a game and giving it a revamp, and they like to show off everything they've done which gets people excited. Aspyr has done great remasters in the past, but at least in my eyes, their general level of quality is slightly below Night Dive's. They have a track record of releasing buggy games at first then fixing them in updates. I still have good hopes for the DX Remaster, $30 is a bit much to me, but a steep discount will be enough to get me to try it.

As @Johnway lives in Path of Exile 2 for ARPGs, i have come home for the new season of Diablo 4. This season is suprising to me though. There is roughly 37k players on it right now. Highest ive seen it climb since it first dropped on steam. Yes, new season but its never been this high.

Biggest reason i can find is the fact that now Diablo 4 has somewhere of up to 30 builds that are either A tier or S tier and span ALL classes. This hasnt been true for the longest time, probably ever, so im glad to see that. The season and its activity are fine enough but i still think ill be done playing within the month even though theres 2 1/2 months before either their next season or their next expansion.

As a nice bonus personally, this game is roughly 25 spots higher than Destiny 2. Destiny 2 has fallen out of the top 100 for the first time in its 8 years on steam over the last 2 days. Thats what happens when you treat your game like garbage bungie.

So I've got a great deal of time to game tomorrow and I'm unsure what to play. My current rotation is quite boring and I'm not really into the idea of tackling anything from my backlog, if I even had one actually. I'm considering picking up Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 again in anticipation of Kiwami 3 coming next year, I always seem to play those games around fall/winter.

I was also considering redeeming my free month of Game Pass, but I feel I never really use it when I have it. Since I don't have anything really grabbing my attention for now, maybe it's a good time to get GP. There are a few games on there that look interesting like Wheel World, I Am Your Beast, 9 Kings and Gears of War Remastered, but I would probably just end up playing something like Far Cry 6 or AC Valhalla.

So many choices but no idea what to do. Isn't there a Steam sale coming up soon?

@neogunhero Wish I could help, but I have the RTX 3070 and my brain goes mush when looking at ALL the cards being released after that.
With you card, I think it would only make sense if you went with a 80 or 90 card. For me, the RTX 2060 to a 5060 Ti would be a pretty massive increase. Most benchmarks I've watched double the frames I get now, and newer DLSS and Frame Gen would be awesome. Using DLSS, it's able to play Stalker 2, Indiana Jones and Oblivion Remastered all at ultra graphics 1080p 60fps+ when I can't run either of those games at low 30FPS lol. It could also have been since I tried all of those games when they were new, they could have had some performance updates since, but still the card would be a major boost to me. Currently $50 below MSRP on some websites so it's extremely tempting.

In a few years, I might get that upgrade. I'm happy as long as I can squeeze out some juice on medium-high settings. One of the reasons I'll wait for Borderlands 4 on major sales and after a few more patches so my rig can actually run it. Speaking of Stalker 2, it recently got a lot of updates, so it looks like it could be a good time to jump in.

Been playing Crusader Kings 3, Tours and Tournaments has added quite a few funny events and theyve updated small parts of the UI in a way that makes a bit more sense.

Also a bit of Disco Elysium because it took my fancy. Not many games make me LOL but the dialogue options and writing in this game is on a different level to other video games, you may have heard it said.

Also picked up Baby Steps, talking of loling. Played some with my kid and shes almost crying laughing. Really well put together game, its like the backpack balancing mechanic in Death Stranding taken to the extreme, but also some weird kind of philosophical commentary at the same time. Lot of fun and very silly indeed.

Managed to play another hour of Hell is Us as well, its really good. Atmosphere is strong and combat fun. Small problem in that I cant really play it with the kid around so some of the puzzles are a bit difficult because I cant remember exactly where certain symbols are after a week off. Feels good to be in the world though even if its feels a bit oppressive by design, its much more eerie than anxiety inducing which suits me well.

The FF Tactics remake looks really good and Menace as well. Lots of good new stuff coming out.

I really need to get back into that game!:)

I should return to it too, at some point. I liked the dialogue, but it's pretty slow and after dying a couple of times my patience with the game ran out.

Like @neogunhero, I've been unsure of what to play, but I've also just been very tired for about a week or so now, so I haven't really played anything except a little bit of Stardew Valley on my phone.

Throwing in a couple that might pique your interest:

I had a similar thing this time! If you pick a character that had low physical abilities then its 50/50 whether you have a heart attack getting the neck tie off the ceiling fan and have to restart. Its a dialogue heavy game obviously so they assumed a lot of people would go for high intelligence and emotional intelligence. I think the devs were trying to filter for that because the physical abilities bring up some pretty fun stuff and different options too that most people would miss only playing through once.

I really need to get back into that game!:)
It gives you weird options and encourages you to pick them. At the same time the lore of the setting is really deep and it shows in the characters you find around the place.

A couple of nights ago, I was running around in the Altus region of Elden Ring. There was a little marker on the map showing where the detailed map could be found - way off to the south, where I couldn't go because of a cliff. I had just come from the west and was at the northern edge of the map, so headed east until I found a little geyser thing that let me jump down to the bottom of the cliff and strike out to the south.

It was getting dark and rainy, so I couldn't see much, but I placed a guide beacon on the spot I wanted to go. There were... things in the dark. Probably about 10ft tall and hunched over. I trusted Torrent, my spectral horse/bull/download protocol to carry me through, though, and I zipped by them before they could swing at me. I lucked on a grace save point (they really stand out in the night) and passed time until the morning. (Note: the game does not fill out the map as you go. You have to grab the map item to fill out a section of the map!)

The next morning was foggy, so not a lot of visibility help, but enough to be able to see the nasties before bumping into them. I kept going south'ish and quickly ran into another cliff towering above me. I had already been to the west and knew there was no way up there, so I followed the cliff east, then se, then east, then north for quite a ways, then it started bending back to the west... frak. I was down in a giant bowl.

Fast travelled out back to where I started and just kept going east. It bent north, passing some windmills and a village with very odd people in it. I kept going around the bowl, only above it now instead of inside it and going the opposite way. EVENTUALLY I should get to that map thing, right? Wrong. The road kept going upward until, eventually, I came to another cliff with no way down. Eeeesh!

So, I went back to a fast travel point much closer to where I started the game. I was able to ride straight to the map item in just a few minutes.

I write this because I haven't had anything like that happen to me in a decade or two! It was, essentially, a gigantic maze! One I would have totally avoided had I just gone after the map from the starting area like a normal person instead of when coming out of Volcano Manner, but still! A maze! I this millennium!

path of exile update, i've got the 28 challenges! The challenge that was completed was a bit unexpected as i wasn't really expecting to actually accomplishing it. I was more focused grinding out the maps to complete an objective and wasn't expected to finish until mid october.

So... what now? i'm not going to try and get 36/40 as they requires more work and really pushing your character to the limit. i was on track to get 30 and maybe with the grace of god, 33. Honestly, its been a lucky break that i was even able to get some of the challenges so early as some of them were late end game content. i was lucky in getting the 2 divine orbs to buy what was a brilliant endgame piece of body armor. No regrets buying it whats so ever. i guess the end game axe i found was also fantastic, wasn't quite peak damage, but it was enough to do the job against the end game bosses.

The league has been a first for a lot of things. First time i forked out money on a f2p game. Those map and currency tabs are a godsend. I've got a character to level 97 and actually able to do a lot of the T16 content. not played T17 and honestly don't care.

it now leaves me with what to do with the content of my stash. there are a few pretty items that would benefit some people and go for a high price. I could sell them, but i have no need for the money, so i won't bother.

What game will i play now? probably go back to completing some indie games, probably horror based with October and Halloween coming up.
