The Super Bowl half time shows are about presenting a spectacle within a certain theme.

And many of the major stars have performed and don't get paid more than expenses.

It's a phenomenon which is supposed to have mass appeal and somehow reflect the time/year.

We just started watching La Brea last night. We've only watched the pilot episode so far, but it seems like it's going to be good. I was telling my wife and son that I heard it has the same vibe as something like Under the Dome, or something like that. As we were watching it, my son said, no, it's more like Lost. I disputed that a little, and then one of the characters on the show said, "Maybe we're on an episode of Lost..." Lol. My son just got a big grin on his face. The more we watched, the more I realized he was right. But it seems like it's going to be a decent show. Seeing how Lost is one of my all-time favorites, I think I'll probably like this one.

Imagine a world without passwords. Imagine a world where someone could get all your personal information and not be able to do a thing with it. I think we can use a technology similar to blockchain to get us there, and we're going to need to do it soon because quantum computers are getting closer by the day.

Lol. I'd rather watch that than some of the modern ones.

And it was only coming out the left side for me, too.
I think there's always been a conlict between the traditional and the progressive.
I also think the two are becoming more disparate because of technology and it's uses like social media, but also because some constructs and institutions have been challenged over the last few decades.

The times they are a-changin'

hahaha my wife just agreed to play D&D with some people from her work over Discord. She's has your standard banking executive personality, so this could be kind of funny. I can't believe she agreed to play (it's very possible the guys from the software development department didn't expect her to say 'yes' lol).

She just asked me if she should be a wizard or a sorcerer. She said they had two groups, one was for newbies, which was where she was going to be. I'm trying to convince her she has to cosplay and speak in an Elizabethan accent.

If you're inferring that because of some other discussions we've had, that's not where this is coming from. I just don't like the styles of music they've been doing for halftime shows. I'm not the only one here who has said that, even if I'm alone here in other areas of thought.

We're already in a world where just a password isn't enough to get access to most sensitive information, as 2 factor authentication has become ever more common.

No problem, world you wanted existed in the past. If you want the full "world where someone could get all your personal information and not be able to do a thing with it", you would need to back a bit further, maybe 19th century. See ya later :)

Just watched episode 1—of 6 x 40m—of The Law According to Lidia Poet, story of Italy's first female lawyer. Good start, getting vibes of The Queen's Gambit which is an excellent show, so looking forward to continuing next week after 4 nights of watching rugby.

It's just a different way of seeing things. You have every right to dislike the music, and you don't need to be defensive or need back up about any of your views.

I just see the limitations that we put on ourselves, limit us.

And when I say, as a student of culture, it's because it is being produced in a more prolific way than ever before, so it's a constantly changing subject. That is partly down to technology.

But it means that the culture that represents us in constant flux, is continually absorbing new ideas and is interacting directly on our reality and the way people think in general.

Ten years from now, there will be no passwords, etc.

Atomic Heart review embargo lifting in a few hours [05:00 PST]. Would have liked it a bit earlier, but I guess it is kind of understandable due to the whole drama surrounding the game. At least we consumers can read about the reviews sometime before the release. Throwing in a recommendation to get it through Xbox Game Pass, as you can play the game for a month for as low as 2 USD. That is a win investment-wise even if the game get's a low score.

We're not a viewport.

This should explain it:

Comcast upgraded us to 100MB/s last year, woohoo!

Does fine for us tho, we don't download much and streaming has always been fine—it's very reliable, may slow at times but 'never' goes down.

We're still at 100 MB/s too. We have signed up for fiber, but it took about 8 months until someone came over to install it in our apartment and I haven't heard from them since. They're not charging us yet either, so I suppose we'll just have to wait a bit longer.

100 MB/s is fine for pretty much everything besides downloading new games or big patches though, neither of which happens all that often.

My wife's about over work today. If I have to listen to any more of her calls, I'm going to be over her work, too. They were in a meeting earlier, and she was being uncharacteristically quiet. All of a sudden she said, "I want to know why we aren't putting periods at the end of our sentences and how you decide when to capitalize words."

I excused myself from the room at that point.

I told her later she should retire, and that if she thought we couldn't manage us both being retired that I had recently been told I'd make a good getaway driver.

"It is expected that the new films will cover content from books, rather than re-visiting the previously released films."
I'm remaining a bit skeptical, as what content int the books remains to be covered? While I greatly enjoyed the movies, especially seeing them the first time, it feels to me like it's time to move on to something else, especially if the producer has a big budget to work with, there are a lot of good fantasy books (or even games) that could make excellent movie.

It seems to me they're trying to do this:
