Through a series of unfortunate events mostly evolving from my own stupidity, I needed some new earbuds.
My problem is that the insides of my ears must be wonky. I've never found any earbuds that don't constantly fall out of my ears. You're right about inexpensive earbuds sometimes sounding good, though. I had a set of cheap JLab earbuds that had a great range on them. I bought them for $50, and I just looked them up and saw you can get them for $26 right now. I was pretty surprised by those, too.

I always replace the earbud tips with memory foam ones that you crumple up and then put in your ears. They expand and hold pretty well. I don't think you would have a problem with the ones I just bought, anyway, because the cord loops over your ears.

And coughs! Having something else to think about instead of just thinking about how much you would like to cough right now helps a ton!
It's weird I don't get normal stuff, like coughs, colds, etc, although I do use immune system enhancers.(But I agree about distraction).
I just get genetic inbuilt stuff, which hopefully can be edited out of future generations.

But it amazing being able to project your mind into a game, not only to forget about low level pain but just instant escapism.

I got my new headphones on Christmas
sony model very popular right now -WH-1000XM4 Wireless Premium Noise Canceling Headphones
I love them!
the sound is perfect but they are quite expensive
Yes they are brilliant, I got the XM3 version originally because of a neighbour who likes his hammer drill a little too much. But then this construction project started around me and they've probably saved what's left of my sanity.

It's just great knowing I can escape noise with them, and the world through gaming:)

Exactly the same for me. I've hated all the earbuds I've ever tried; they always fall out of my ears (especially my right ear for some reason). Maybe I have weird ears, or maybe my ear canals are too small or too large, but they always fall out. I'll take a solid pair of closed back headphones any day.

Mmm, leftover fried spaghetti for breakfast. The good kind. Not the kind you find recipes for online. If you have heart issues, this will solve all your problems.
Yum! Continued consumption will definitely stop all your heart problems. I've eaten a lot of weird things over the years, but one of the best was deep fried mac and cheese. Another heart stopper, but, oh lordy, is it good.

So the Super Bowl is tomorrow. I don't really care, but I'm going to pull for the Chiefs because of Trey Smith, a Tennessee kid who has persevered through some serious health issues (he's prone to blood clots). I'll have to root for them silently though because my wife has decided she's for the Eagles, and once she selects a team, you'd think she was born and raised there and is majority owner of the franchise. She takes her randomly selected team very seriously and would be extremely disappointed in my stunning and completely unexpected betrayal.

Aliens would be the best case scenario unless they are Hollywood aliens. Then we're screwed.
Apparently one spotted over China as well. It would be an interesting development, like The Day the Earth Stood Still. What with several countries making threats, etc.

It's quiet around here today, has everyone got Super bowl fever?

I don't really understand sport, like here people go crazy/emotional over a spherical object being kicked.

Sports are games, and I very much like games. Been following football since I was around 6 years old and played it for 12 years. I also played basketball, baseball and soccer. My parents were very busy. Anyway, I can't criticize kicking a ball around when I've spent a good portion of the day moving an imaginary wizard around an imaginary world.

Sport is like peaceful war. Instead of fighting and killing one another, we send our champions out onto the gridiron. Then the victors lord over the losers until the next game. Also fun are the bonds that fans form, especially now in the Internet era. There's a camaraderie almost like a very light version of what military friends feel. I'm not even sure what my brother and I would talk about if we didn't share a common sports team.

As for being visited by aliens, it would be the biggest moment in all of human history. Think how advanced aliens would have to be to make it to earth. Our world would change over night. Our technology would advance at a ridiculous pace, and the petty differences between countries would seem like nothing compared to our introduction to advanced life from beyond our star system. It would truly be an amazing time.

There's almost zero chance that the aliens would be any sort of threat other than perhaps disease, which they would almost certainly know how to handle.

I have played sports, basketball was my best one. It's just this fever that takes over like when we had the World Cup recently.
I was in the chess team and fishing team at school, though.

I live in Indiana, so I used to be a Colts fan before they started sucking every year. The Peyton Manning days were great. But back in 2010 when the Colts played the Saints in the Super Bowl, my oldest son, who was only 7 or 8 at the time, decided he was going to become a Saints fan, just because he wanted to be the opposite of what his parents were.

Yeah? They don't seem to suck enough to actually lose to the Chiefs. Nasty horsies. Finally get the Broncos nailed down, and in come the friggin' Colts. At least we seem to have gotten over our cat issues, though.

P.S. Pre-game time! I think the key to the game for the Chiefs is that they'll need to score more points than the Eagles. ;)

As a student of culture

I don't really understand sport
Good to hear you still have plenty of study ahead of you ;)

Sport as a cultural activity predates many modern cultural pursuits—eg apparently fishing was a well organized sport in ancient Egypt. Many sports probably originated as training methods for warfare and hunting, which may explain why it seems to be ingrained in the human condition.

Even with the relative reduction in warfare and hunting, sport has retained its appeal—eg global following for Football is ~4 billion, with a few others over a billion like Cricket, Hockey and Tennis. Those over ½ billion are Volleyball, Table tennis, Basketball, Baseball, Rugby and Golf.

Even American Football apparently has a bit of a following :D

That's cool that you had a fishing team. Never heard of that before. We might have fishing clubs in school, but there weren't fishing teams.
It was my tutor who started the fishing club, and made me nominal captain. I used to get a bit envious of some of my friends going up on stage to collect their trophies.
But one day I went up there, turned and shook the trophy in the air to rapturous applause, it felt good.(assemblies were incredibly tedious usually).
I intend to get out fishing more during the summer, just spending all day out by a river is great.(I even enjoy fishing in RD2)

Okay I'll rephrase that. I totally understand most sports and I know the histories of a few going back to ancient Sparta and C. America.

But it just starts to seem a bit pointless. Like football here, every week the same 20 teams kick the ball around(in each league), and they do that every week for years.
Also it's become such a big finance/investment project. Many fans have been priced out of going to games.

I appreciate the talents of the likes of Messi. Argentina were always my favourite team going back to when he started to play for them.
But in England and many countries a sort of fever takes over. People get emotionally insane for a few weeks during the World cup. That's what baffles me!
But then again I've always found the English a bit baffling:)

Do you guys think the Super Bowl was rigged?
If it is, then the rigger is an idiot. Philli would be buying far more merchandise than KC will for the win. Also, the teams are stunningly good at keeping secrets.

P.S. Let's see here: win the Super Bowl, lose, don't even make it there, win.... DYNASTY! Patriots fans must be getting a good laugh out of that!
