I would recommend IEM, but those are really just rentals at that price range. You have to buy new ones all the time. Here are two well-respected wired headphones without mics in your price range.

There really aren't a lot of decent options under $50, but here are two pretty good ones.

Perhaps the best idea is save up for more expensive ones that do last a bit longer. Or should anyway.
$100 can get you ones that might not break as fast - I assume that is why Zed calls them rentals.
