This build is presented in the always reliable and beautiful MasterBox Q300L. It will run every esport/casual game smoothly and will also let you play at a medium quality a lot of Triple AAA from recent years. The 480 GB SSD will make you forget about loading screens, and you will have space for playing Warzone with your friends!!!

The motherboard should ship ready for Zen 2, allowing future upgrades for those games that need more processing power.

PD: God! You guys managed to get GREAT prices on R5 1600/2600 and even some very good GPU. Congratulations!

Welcome to the very first PC Gamer Best PC Builds competition!

It's an open secret that here at PC Gamer we love PC Building. Building your own PC makes for a fun weekend project, and nets you the biggest performance bang for your buck. It's hard to match the sweet satisfaction of customizing each component to fit your specifications and needs. We want to share the joy of PC Building with the entire community, which is why we're challenging you to submit your best performing builds at the lowest possible price in a number of categories.

The competition will run from April 17th till April 27th. This means you have 10 days to submit your builds!

We've extended the submission period until May 4th! May the fourth be with you and may your builds bring order to the galaxy!

At the end of the competition the winners and their builds will be featured on the PC Gamer home page. Submit your build and get that clout!

This is the $500 Min Spec Console Killer Category
Please submit builds with the best gaming performance for $500 or less. We will favor console sized submissions, ie. m-ATX and m-ITX builds.

How does it work?
We're gonna break this competition down into 4 parts:
  1. Submit your builds
  2. After a week of submissions, the PC Gamer staff will pick their top 5 in each category. We will judge primarily on quality of components, price, and theoretical system performance.
  3. Users vote on their favorite build of the top 5.
  4. We feature the winning builds in each category on the PC Gamer homepage.

How do I submit a build?

  1. Head to the PCPartPicker System Builder.
  2. Build your system!
  3. When you're all set, smash that BB code button
    EFYHjue.png
  4. Copy the BB code
  5. Head to this thread, respond hit the BB code toggle in the tool bar
    KEAhrBy.png
  6. Paste the BB code and post your thread!

Ground Rules - Read this or you will be disqualified :)

  • Only one build per budget category, per user. Multiple builds from a single user or duplicate accounts will be disqualified.
  • Do not go over budget.
  • Use list prices only: coupons, rebates, bundles or any other limited-time offers will not be accepted.
  • Do not include shipping or tax in your final budget.
  • Do not include the Operating System, Monitor or VR Headset, Keyboard, Mouse or Gamepad.
  • All builds must have a name.
  • Do not put your forum handle in the name of your build, and avoid odd capitalizations & symbols.
  • We encourage users to use PCPartPicker's System Build for speedy construction.
  • Do not post a link to your build, but rather please be sure to export as BBCode for a quick copy/paste to the forums

Here are links to all three build categories:

$500 Console Killer
"Slaystation Z"

I'll call it the "Slaystation Z" to keep with the console theme. This was extremely difficult as the price was so low! A machine like this would sit nicely beside my 8700k and 6700k and give us the final piece on my families 3 pc gaming setup! Playing w the kids!

Here it is! The base total left enough for a cheap fan perhaps 497 and change.

Ps. The case I've selected looks heaps like the Fractal Design Define S, which while plain has been one of the best cases to build in with a modern pc. SUPER clean inside, easily fits Noctuas Best coolers or water! I have two.

At this price point I would maximize power potential with the cpu and the gfx cards. RAM speeds arent as limiting as one might expect. If you wanted something with true upgrade potential I would personally suggest saving up a little more for a superior motherboard. A solid foundation makes all the difference when looking to build up. Here I would not be thinking of upgrading but then who doesnt love new hardware!

We got a decent CPU paired with a midrange GPU and we've populated all our DIMMs to make use of dual channel memory configuration. For storage we're obviously taking an SSD. 240GB SSD is the absolute bare minimum for a build, any less and you're not storing more than an OS + 1 game.
Throwing all this in a tiny case and you got a good console to sit behind your TV.

"THE COMPLETE STARTER PACK"

This may be one of the builds which can squeeze out a lot of bang for buck. What are you NOT getting here for the price??

> You have 4 cores 4 threads to deal with boosting in at 4.2ghz offering really great single core performance and value. In gaming number of cores doesn't matter much but good single core performance does.

> A very capable Radeon RX580 graphics card with 8gb of vram to play with. 8gb is a sweet spot as you can play heavy some heavy titles without having your graphics card offload some data onto the ram.

> 16gb ram (single stick which you can easily upgrade by adding another stick). In case of Intel, Double channel doesn't offer much performance, and high speeds don't matter much. So this one is a candy because you have 16gb, which is sure to serve you well

> 1TB of storage (500gb ssd for faster boot times + 500gb hdd to store games). This combo is really nice as 1TB is just too good to be true in a rig of this performance and budget. 500gb to store games and 500gb for your windows and other things which need faster speeds possible with only an ssd

> 500W Bronze power supply. See carefully its not just some 80+ white, it's 80+ Bronze which will last you well, provide efficiency, save electricity, save bills and guess what save environment too !!

> The case is also really good for the budget. Rosewill is a good brand which makes some good budget pc cases. It offers the fundamentals for the price has minimal flair to it. Looks decent and will probably last you a few years too if you upgrade the pc with the time.

I couldn't think of better value which you can squeeze at this price point. It was hard to believe for me too that how much performance $500 can get you now. I think it has better performance than a Ps4 or Xbox one X (correct me, I may be wrong =P). Enough headroom to run this pc for some 5 to 6 years. Considering you can upgrade to 32gb of ram for some 50ish bucks and may upgrade to a better cooler down the road, you can have a pretty good concole killer. I am quite new to pc building,so suggestions are always welcome. Hope this one helps you smash your previous records....

Hope you like this build. Don't forget to give it some love with your LIKES...

Here is a bonus - Invest $20 on this Antec cooler and lower your temps. It will surely increase longevity of the system while keeping temps and noise levels down too. You will be getting $15 in rebait on the graphics card anyway, so you will spend just $5 over your $500 budget. Trust me the investment would be worth it.
CPU Cooler - https://pcpartpicker.com/mr/amazon/bxJwrH

Also with the gpu (rx580), you're getting a Xbox game pass worth $30. All in all, you're on the green side of your budget. The build is just $0.01 shy of your budget. If you just want to get started with pc gaming, #buildthis gaming rig right now

HAVE GREAT GAMING AHEAD =D
STAY HOME, GAME AND STAY SAFE

NOTICE - The psu is currently out of stock. This is the replacement for it and fortunately is priced similar to the original one. PSU
