I started posting in the audio thread. Bumped into Colif there that seems to be the only active member there. LMAO (Just kidding) Having a bit of an issue with Musescore. Well, Serious for me, small for others.
Been ranting and raving and just before my wife said good night, she asked me something I have not thought of. She simply asked: "If you do not like the software or it is hindering your work, why keep on using it.? Just get something else". Honestly been ranting and raving about it all night and did not even consider other software until it was mentioned. I have been using Muse Score since about v1 (possibly v2) and been using it ever since. For those who do not know, Muse Score was like windows 11. You could get Muse Score 1.0, 1.15. 1.2.0 etc., then a big update like 2 followed by smaller numbers, and we are now somewhere in the 4 regions. So, it has been coming a while with hundreds of updates etc.
Sad to say that they evolved past me and the problem I am having is the software is changing what I gave it to use. It is like me having an argument with the computer, Me saying "A" and the computer insisting it is "B" and then just change it on my behalf. LMAO or like auto correct on a phone that 90% of the time have no idea what you are saying but correct you every step of the way, but in this case, you cannot switch it off.
I did a search on notation software for 2025 and found lists of them. Decided anything recommended above Muse Score should be considered. Yeah, you all guessed it, my pocket will be emptier after this episode. Fortunately, I can blame the wife on this one.........
Currently waiting for two Demo/free/test versions to download. 1 being Sibelius. I heard of it before amongst the students but never looked at it. I was too focused on Muse Score (Even if I have to admit that). Currently shown as the #1 Notation (per the website with the notation software list. 2 is Dorico (Listed as 3rd). The list shows Finale as the 2nd best but I know for a fact Finale has pulled out of the industry. One of my students had a problem with Finale and she told me Finale is pulling out. Else I would not have known either. Dorico is a Steinberg product. For Those who do not know, Steinberg is the maker of Cubase. This in itself was a big "selling" point for me.
We see how they compete in the test versions. I am not spending any money until I am sure and the first thing I am testing is their auto correct feature! If they have it, if it works and if I can switch it off.
Edit: F.Y.I, me and Colif had a nice conversation in the music thread, and musescore has not responded to the thread on their forum. Not an acknowledgement that they are investigating it. Might be an indication they are following in Finale's footsteps.
