average price in Australia is about $AUD100 now, though thats AAA, other games can be less.

In the US, a AAA game costs 59.99 unless it's by Square Enix, which is trying to coerce the industry into raising PC AAA prices and is charging 69.99.

Most games are by smaller companies though and run anywhere from about 9 dollars to 49 dollars.

Average I pay is around $5.

There are a load of reasons to wait before buying games, and a nice side-effect is that they'll often be cheaper—and always if you wait for the big sales.

In which case, with the number of games that exist, I think average is about 0 as a vast majority of games ever released are old and probably shareware/freeware

The good thing about Game Pass is that I'm trying out games I never would have tried before because it doesn't cost me any more to play as many games as I want on there.

Gamepass is great, I usually join when I'm between games and looking for something to play. Its really easy to cancel and re-sub if you find youre into something not on there and wont be using it.

For a brand new, AAA game, it's $60 with a smattering of $50's and one $70. There are plenty of brand new games that come out for less, though. They aren't as high quality but they can server niche gaming tastes. Wildermyth and The Forgotten City are both recent examples of very good games that only cost $25.

(I'm ignoring "free to play" games. You never know how much those things will really cost you.)

The good thing about Game Pass is that I'm trying out games I never would have tried before because it doesn't cost me any more to play as many games as I want on there.

The old OnLive service was like that, too. It only let you play for 30 minutes, but there was also 0 installation process. I found Just Cause 2 that way!

I haven't paid $60 for a AAA game since the N64 was new. Prices vary in different countries. Actually hate to think what collectors editions are priced here.... I almost said worth and thats a lie.

Yeah, even the average games are worth $3/hr, which will be over $100 for many of them.

Honestly havent payed any more for games than what i was paying when this thread was written. Yea the norm now is 70 for a base game but there are still ample amount of ways to get games for free or cheap, does that maybe add to the dropping quality of games we expect more from? whos to say.

Anyway, even if it is the norm, that's only a 17% increase. That's more of a bottle rocket than a skyrocket, IMHO.
