What games in your wishlist have the worst reviews, and why did you wishlist it?

I totally missed @Zed Clampet 's thread last year on cleaning out your wishlist. I have 1041 games in my Steam wishlist and thought it would be fun to sort it by review score then go to the very bottom to see what games are reviewed the worst. It also got me thinking about what I saw in these games that intrigued me enough to add them.

What games in your Steam wishlist have the worst reviews, and what made you add them?

Starting with a well-known flop:
I like open world zombie survival games, and the trailers and screenshots were promising. Then came all the controversy around it, I'm glad I didn't spend any money on it. Luckily you can't buy it anymore.

However, this next game you can still buy:
Identity was poised to be the "Sims killer" before we had a mini wave of Sims-like games in the past year or so. The Kickstarter and trailer videos were all very promising. The main idea was to be a life sim MMO, where you lived in a city with other people and could completely decorate your apartment. This game went under my radar for the past few years, and it seems to be all but completely abandoned. The subreddit is pretty chaotic with people making tasteless insults towards the devs for scamming them out of money.

This next one is a bit of a surprise to me:
I was never huge into the original KSP, but I know it had a very dedicated following. I was excited for the new one and wanted to check out what was hopefully going to be a better version of the first game, but obviously that is not how it turned out. I'm not sure what happened here, why it isn't getting updated, and why they haven't been able to turn around the reception yet. Then again, it's only two years old, so hopefully there is a chance it will redeem itself.

Last game:
This game had a lot of potential to replaced The Crew 2 after their servers shut down. Open world MMO racing game is the only kind of racing games I like, so this one had me excited. It came and went without me knowing, just to find out it's negatively reviewed for feeling unloved and soulless and being riddled with bugs. The trailers and screenshots would have you thinking otherwise.

I wouldn't hold your breath on the game redeeming itself:

The worst score for a game probably falls into the "mixed" category, besides games i absolutely want, the games on my Wishlist are more on my to watch list. Stuff i saw that looked interesting or played fine but not essential in my collection. So i add them in for later review. turns out some of those games aren't all that hot.

As for my wishlist, out of the 26 entries (of which 7 unreleased), the worst reviewed one is the The Hunter & The Beast DLC for Total War: Warhammer II at 61%. One of the legendary lords is apparently almost unplayable and the other one has a disappointing campaign, so the only reason to buy it is to get a couple extra units.

The worst reviewed full game is SFD : Rogue TRPG at 86%, so I guess I have impeccable taste (and also clean up my wishlist every so often).

I got one overwhelmingly negative reviewed game and it is the same as the one you have @neogunhero called The Day Before. I believe I wishlisted it because it showed some promise, but we all know how that turned out...

On my wishlist because I liked the first one. It got mixed reviews because of bugs, crashes and the like. Might take it for a spin in a couple years.
Wishlisted because I played the beta and found it to be decent enough. Not played it since, mixed reviews because of cheaters, crashes, queue times, loot balancing. Hopefully they manage to iron out the worst of it.
Old RPG game that caught my interest. Mixed reviews because it's old and janky, but I can live with that.

I thin my list regularly so most of my wishlist games are not out yet. Lowest score on mine currently goes to: Terminal Velocity and im not really sure why i still have it wishlisted tbh.

But, i was also looked into Identity. I saw your post and then read the post underneath. I wonder how many people were actually working on it? Been in EA for over 6 years and steam warns theres been no update since before then. But it seems someone close was responding in the post below yours.

I've got 707 games wishlisted. I don't have anything below "mixed" because I recently got rid of them.

This was a bizarre game that I wishlisted in 2015. It was only $5 and I always said I was going to buy it, but this was before I lost my mind and bought everything. So a few weeks ago, I suddenly remembered this and discovered it's been removed from sale. Probably stopped working and the solo developer didn't feel it was worth his time to update it.

This is a CRPG that I looked forward to for a very long time and anxiously awaited reviews for only to see it completely tank. The developers were in trouble because their publisher closed down, and they had to release it before it was done. They have been religiously updating it for over a year now, but no one is buying it and the reviews aren't getting better for some reason. In fact the 4 most recent reviews are all negative, which makes me kind of sad. I'm going to keep watching it, though.

@neogunhero Dean Hall is making a spiritual successor to Kerbal since Kerbal 2 got shut down.

I recognise that name. It was once a very promising new game, it's unfortunate it didn't work out:

It also got hit by a group of people angry that the game took some sort of grant and included indigenous people in the game. It was something like that, anyway. I really didn't try to understand it. Also, there was a very long thread on the forums about all the starting characters being angry women.

There was a lot of nonsense as people passed the time between missed launch dates. Outrage spread like kudzu.

On my list because it's CIV! I didn't like 6 very much, though, and reviews for this one are under 50% positive. I was thinking 'wait for two expansions' but, looking at the store page, they've already got quite a bit of DLC. This ain't looking good, and Firaxis needs a win badly.

I don't have a huge wishlist (12 titles, some of which are DLC), but the two lowest are:

Nebuchadnezzer. Added because I liked the Impressions city builders when I was younger, and this is inspired by them. However, I've never bought it because I know full well that I will play it a few times and then forget about.

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers. I like simulators and this one seemed interesting.

Both are ranked "Mostly Positive".

Just for fun,, I looked at the other categories. I have two OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVEs (Schedule 1, Wylde Flowers) and the rest are VERY POSITIVE.

This game is a lot less "cozy" but is a very good police game:

Ohhhh, I like the looks of this. Thanks!

Looks like the lowest on my list is Expeditions

Sitting at Mixed. I have it on there because I really love Snowrunner and after trying the demo, I think Expeditions is totally my jam as well. It's mixed reviews are unfair, in my opinion.

Leylines

i think its mixed, because its challenging and is a unique take on the whole 4x genera

You level a hero to help you expand your lands. The graphics are dated, but i love the styling. Its a game ive almost bought a bunch of times but thesr days im just getting fewer and most wanted

instead leylines will have to wait 5 bucks for gaurdians of the galaxy and starwars outlaws are thonly games i bought in 6 months. Cant say anything about gardians, but outlaws is darn good, ok 3bucks for theif of thieves too just looked to good for 3 bucks and its short so a night or two unlike a 4x to learn

I don‘t know if this counts but my three ‚worst‘ games by being sorted are the ones that are still in development.
First one is „Is this seat taken?“ of which I already played the demo and I truly enjoyed this short puzzle experience, so I‘m quite sure I will also enjoy the game when its out, no matter the reviews.
Second one is „Disinherited“ which is being made by a single developer. I‘ve seen him starting on the game in a development challenge on youtube and since then he keeps on refining and expanding the game for a proper game release on steam. I love the design and how much thought went into the game and I also follow the frequent updates from the developer himself on youtube. I don‘t think though that the game will come anytime soon as he is quite the perfectionist and constantly has new ideas that need deep adjustments within the game.
Third one is a bit of a tragic story… It‘s called „What never was… Chapter II“. The first chater is a free demo and in my opinion a fascinating and captivating first person puzzle game with lots of promise. However, all the promised release dates were postponed by the creator who is also a single developer. Unfortunately, I hven‘t heard any news in probably more than a year now and I don‘t think that the game will ever be finished. However, I keep it wishlisted in case a wonder happens.
Other than that, the lowest rated game in my wishlist is „Deliver us Mars“ with 74%. As I am on a game stop currently, I will not buy it even if there‘s currently a good 70% sale on it. This is just one of many games which I tagged as „after finishing my master“ in my head.

Mostly negative. 11 reviews total. Two are positive plus one that is positive but says he wished he could leave a neutral response and the reviewer refunded the game. Only one reviewer played for more than ten hours, and that just barely. Only about 25% of players made it far enough to capture a city.

One of the worst-reviewed games on my wishlist is Road Rage. The reviews aren’t great, but I added it because I enjoy open-world driving games and it looked like it could still be fun. I’ve played other mobile driving games too, like Extreme Car Driving Simulator, which has pretty smooth controls and some cool stunts. Even if a game isn’t perfect, sometimes I just want something different to mess around with.
