It’s a game that intrigues me but I’ve never wanted to risk purchasing. I’m also regretting leaving it half an hour before claiming but tbh I’m happy with the base game too.

You can buy the upgrade to DC edition for some small amount of money (it's less than $6 in my country): https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/death-stranding-directors-cut--upgrade?lang=en-US. But I advice to wait. I think that there are some small chances that they'll upgrade the base edition for everyone. Epic's sale ends on 5th January, so there's still plenty of time to grab the upgrade.

Not sure why higher frame rate is paywalled
Thanks for that. Yeah, the wording is unclear.

♣ The frame rate etc stuff is designated under "includes"

♦ Whereas art, backpack patches etc are under "additionally include".

So my guess is ♣ stuff is in the base game, while ♦ bits are only in the DC.

But they shouldn't make us guess—a simple "Extra in DC" section would do nicely.

In DC there are also new side quests and better explanation of the story. Apart from that there are new character moves during cargo transportation and fights. :)
