The problem with all time is many are no longer top 10 all time as I don't play them any more, but for my life playing something for 5k hours would easily make it an all time great. So I'm going ti post two, the hall of fame, and my current top 10 from all time that I still play.
All time hall of fame
1,Starwars galaxies, 8k hours of pure bliss, who knew you could spend 8 years of my life driving around a galaxy surveying to mine minerals, and have 50+things to do in a game before you even get to ohh ya it also has combat things. Best game ever made by a long shot. <retired>
2, City of heroes, 3k+ hours creating alts, designing costumes thinking up back stories and running 8 man groups in a game that everything from lbl 1-50 was just great. From outlaws to carries and everything in between <retired>
3, baldurs gate, the first game on a computer that blue my mind. Recreating d&d tabletop, with tons of memorable npcs, and actually seeing all these monsters and spells that existed in my mind for 20 years, color spray some orcs, yes please!
4, mechwarrior online, this game us just a lot of fun. I played from 2012-2022. I've only played a handful of matches since and I won't say I'll never play again because I probably will next week in the annual event but still <mostly retired>
5, Civ v, I played this game a ton, I still have a celtic save that almost has the biggest little city achievement with the longest name, I think you build like 40+cities, im over half done.
6 crusader Kings ii, while I like ck iii more, I played ii way more hours, bur the game is now <retired> to me. I had so many memorable moments I can't even count. Ck3 is even better but still needs another couple years for me to really be next lol. We will see if it ultimately grips m and pulls me away to play
7, battletech, a great turn based squad game. Tons of customization and unique ways to play. It's table top come to life.
8, galactic civ ii, the most challenging strategy fame I've ever played. Our side of the original masters of Orion it's the only turn based game to beat me. This ship builder is awesome too
9, tropico 1-4. I can't separate these as they are so similar but so different. Tropical 2 I barely played, but was just cool. 1,3,4 I played a ton and they are so unique yet the same. It's as if the are just unique missions with different challenges. 1 was a political challenge, 3 was moving towards a modern builder, yet still had the charm of being easier. It's almost a tutorial fame to actually beat 1 t1. And 4 is just a fun city builder. I bundle them up because I can't really distinguish them as it's all just tropico to me. It also is the game that won me a trip for writing about My most memorable moment ib a game i went to the omerta game launch in san Francisco, where I met a pc gamer writer! Among others. Was a great time!
10, Dungeons of Nahuelbuek. This is an rpg with charm. It launched when we got slammed with the pandemic and consumed the next three years. It has wonderful combat, a light hearted story, memorable characters, and will make you bust a git laughing, too omg groans as you mutter that is sooo bad, but it's still great. It also had a fantastic follow up dlc called back to the futon which is adds another 16-20 hours to the 40 something game.
(Games that very well could bump something, diablo and starcraft both are 1ks of hours. <one or both should be on this list, but I was trying to cover the scope of pc gaming, and both have been retired for over 20 years. Freedom force, this one is tough, I have over 500 hours easy and still play it from time to time. Thief 3, is great and I dont even play fps games as hey make me motion sick but some how this game didn't and it rewarded me with the best level ever designed in a video game, "the cradel" )
Current top 10 games installed that I still play and a lot and just might end up in the hall of fame list one day
Dead in Vinland, I didn't even know a vn/rpg/survival game with line combat was a thing, and who knew it would be so great, boy do I hope they make another
Banner saga, a harsh rpg where death is real and attacks always hit so share that armor!
Dungeons of nahuelbuek. Incredible rpg, see above
Idle champions, an idle game that according to steam took up 95%of my game time the lady 2 years! that a bit if a stretch as it is idle a lot, bit it's easily 40% of my real play time, though the only game I play consistently as well everything else has months long breaks while I change things up
midnight suns, this and Dungeons of nahuelbeuk take up the bulk of my gaming these days. It's just a really solid game
Wasteland 2(3 I'm buying and I'm sure will) for some reason fallout games never clicked with me the have all the stuff i should like and everyone is there, yet I don't. for what ever reason this one does and I hope picking up 3 ad a holiday gift to me this week is just as fun
Life is strange (I can't wait to get 2) one of the most unique adventures I ever played, with each eppisode better than the next with so many twists I never saw coming. Just fantastic and the period vib is great too.
Mass effect Andromeda (yes I Like this dar more than the trilogy, it's hopeful, the alien vaults are one if the coolest setting in any hame ever made and the nomad was so fun to blast around in
Dragon age 2, yup it's my favorite and probably not a coincidence that it's also the game that complete killed my faith in listening to the mobs hating on a game. I waited 2 years to grab it and when I did I saw a few flaws that bugged me but absolutely fell in love with the naritve despite Varic.iin reality though I love all 3, so picking a fav is hard, but 2 just does it for me
Omerta, I'm putting this on as are easily 20 games I could fill a spot with and tons of games that you play once and move in like many visual novels and point and clicks, Blackwell, hiway blossoms, night of the rabit, the longest journey, Siberia, dark eye, Loren of the amazon, and sunless seas are just a few that could slide into the list and bump anything. But Omerta is more than just a game, it was also a real life adventure too, its a game that I still play and enjoy. It's also a really solid squad tactics, with unique characters and a fun period story too go with it. so it's on the list.
