I guess we can put this in here!

Im gonna get this soon. Oblivion brings back memories to a time when this game caused a group of college kids to only be able to play 1 hour per turn. Fun times.

I might leave it a while, until after I get my new PC. Its $100 here for deluxe version and since that is the only way to get the expansions - Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine - I don't feel like buying it just yet and adding extra costs on until after I buy all the parts I need.

The expansions are included in the base game. The Deluxe version just adds some weapons and armour I think, plus the soundtrack.

I'm torn. I really want to buy Viking Frontiers RIGHT NOW, but there are no reviews yet, and it's a PlayWay game, so it probably sucks. I suppose I could refund it...Also, if I wait for reviews, I'll probably never buy it, and it might actually be okay regardless of the reviews, which will likely be in the 70s on Steam.

They stealth launched on me!

I think it's safe to say that Bethesda will be remastering many of their games now since Oblivion seems to be one of the biggest hits of the year so far.

Honestly, I dont think that this Oblivion is a remaster like it says. Its more of a remake like Mafia 1. They use SO MANY new assets in the game, its new. The "remaster" exists within all the mods to make the original look better for modern times.

From what I understand, the remaster uses mostly the same code as the original, it only uses Unreal Engine 5 for the graphics. So they did not remake the game, even if they also tweaked the leveling and combat a bit.

Even for a remake i would def. re-use assets from the original as much as possible to save money or whatever, so it does make sense to borrow older assests. They did that in Mafia 1. Maybe less im not sure, but i remember reading that Mafia 1 was labeled as a remake because they had to change core systems to the game, on top of using almost all new graphics unlike oblivion to an extent.

But after reading this article and learning that they change core mechanics about the original game makes it feel like a remake to me. This change might not be considered the "core" mechanics, but its still going to be big enough change for me to see it more than just a remaster.

PCG was even surprised it was billed as a remaster, right in the first paragraph here..

After reading these articles it definitely seems like a remaster to me. The gameplay changes look like what you'd expect from a major patch, not a remake of the entire game, at least to me.

But the label we put on it doesn't really matter.

Never played the original, but this game looks awesome. Love the pure adventure and exploration going on in the trailers.

I also looked at that DARKEST DAYS game and thought I may give it a shot since its free and comes out tonight. After looking at it a bit more I decided against it. It's a mobile game port, which that alone isn't the bad thing, the game just looks so boring. The trailers show players running through absolutely massive empty areas, with the occasional zombie fight. Besides that, it does not look to offer anything new to me, I'd rather just play DayZ at that point.
