Only ones it lists I would use are the sysinternal apps, and mainly as Microsoft bought them. I have used all 3 tools listed, they are good.

I don't think any of this type of program are necessary anymore. Its why Norton stopped selling theirs... most of its just links to settings. Co pilot can find those for you, if you really need help.

I don't use them myself.

The win 10 version does seem to include god mode, so there is that... if you want it. Menus that show are determined by version of OS its installed on... it seems.

For at least 6 months, Youtube on Firefox would randomly scroll up everytime I was scrolling down on recommended page.
I had gotten used to it. It used to annoy me at first but I had tried a reset of Firefox and it still happened, so I blamed Google.
They appear to have fixed it as its not doing it now.

Now instead it is showing me copies of videos twice on same page. Though that might have been a glitch.

That behavior is usually linked to the page refreshing, likely with a new ad finished loading. I've never seen such tho, so probably FF rather than YT—depends on your setup.

I been slack with email inbox, deleted 4313 emails today, I don't feel like I lost anything... especially since Outlook just put it all in deleted folder so have 30 days to rescue anything before its gone. Also moved a few into better folders, so now only have 970 in inbox.

Yes, I could set up rules. Maybe I will once its lower. One email at a time easier to deal with.

Still could do more but its more difficult now as the big groups are gone

POP or IMAP? PST or OST?

I have POP PST for simplicity and local control. Back when my email load was heavy, I used to start a new POP every year—copy old one, rename old for archive, delete all mail in new.

Now my mail load is quite low, so I've had the same PST for a few years.

I used to have folders out the kangaroo but realized I almost never used them. Outlook search is now very good, so I only have one extra folder 'Keep'. I did a clean on the Inbox a couple of years ago, so it's now less than one screen—currently 6.

Its odd, it only let me delete them in batches of 75 or less. I kept having to do same searches to find more emails.

I will whittle it down from the 970 that remain. A lot of them are orders I made, and want to keep. Not as easy as a bulk delete.

Windows 11 24H2 is out but its slow to be released. The ISO on website was still 23H2 last night - I think I wait and let others experiment with it before I do the install.

Yeah same here. I also have an Outlook.com account on it, and my biz domain email too—so handy to have them all together in one Inbox on my desktop, none of that slow online futzing.

it uses PST for non microsoft exchange accounts, OST if they are Microsoft exchange accounts.

its faster to logon to the chrome browser and delete than than to use Outlook. That and the search function in Outlook only works for emails recieved since I started using it... and there is like 10 years worth of emails in some folders. I just saw some from 2013.

Down to only 778 items in inbox, 372 unread (spam). I forgot the green text just shows unread, the folder can have way more in it. 5677 deleted emails now. I killed a few folders I don't really need.

Have to be careful I don't delete anything I need.

Yes I can see that working best if you have just one email account—why install Outlook when you have a browser already?

It didn't matter so much for a long time as I used a browser to look at Gmail so all the mail was on a server. I didn't have an archive folder before, just a stack of folders I made that I haven't looked in for years.

I assume you can't control location of the file, as I could put on ssd. Its not like I have a lack of space now... even if I ignore my hdd I have 3tb free. C is half empty and the 4tb ssd only has 1tb used.

Some of my folders are for courses I did. Those are handy to keep. Others are order details, another is receipts. Sure, after a few years they less useful, but right now I need some of them. Just to remember who I bought things off, if nothing else.

why install Outlook when you have a browser already?

I have Outlook as it came with my Office subscription and I thought a few months back that I wanted to stop using Chrome, so Outlook took one use of chrome away. Only a few remain now. One or two things only work on Chrome... they don't like Firefox.

Yep, they're all in my 'Keep' folder on the off-chance they might be relevant. Main ones are also in my OneNote books—not the email, just the useful bit, often a screenshot.

Funnily enough, Outlook just started acting up—pops up a login request and then does nothing with it. Did two 365 Repairs, still no joy, grr.

Edge broke completely a few hours ago, gave this for every URL incl MS's own:

Took changing a bunch in Settings to fix it. Of course I have no idea which change did the magic, but for now I don't care either.

Outlook still broken, guess I better get after that now—a temp glitch should've resolved by now. I can check my email at Outlook.com in browser, but working it is so much slower than in desktop app.

Ah well, first MS problems in years, could be worse.

mine appears to be fine. And I don't use edge... maybe I should look into uninstalling it on my win 10 VM since its always updating it.

Edge works, keeps wanting me to set up the AI. I just close it every time.
I hope the AI in 24H2 isn't hard to ignore.

I used to get problems with my Office licence but I think it was their end as I never did anything to fix it and its stopped now

After opening Edge earlier to make sure it was working, and ignoring the AI setup, i started to notice CPU was boosting to 60C and then stopping, over and over.
I did my usual - watch task manager, and saw it was Edge. I fixed that by going into Edge settings and stopping all background apps while its closed. Now no more Edge running at all.

Click OK on that and literally nothing happens, just the same as if I never pressed F9 to bring in mail. Send from my Outlook.com address also fails. This is the error message:

Looks like I may have fixed it. I deleted and re-added the O.com account in O desktop client and both Send and Receive worked! Now to combine the 2 inboxes into one…

generally, if I haven't changed anything, I assume its Microsoft that messed up and just leave it alone. I use same approach if the internet isn't working... if problem is external, nothing you do will fix it.

Yeah same here. But if it's not fixed in a couple of days, then I assume some update changed a setting somewhere, so I pursue on that basis.

I wondered what was using space on C

• notice my users folder is 132gb and wonder whats in it

• 44gb of music... um? Why does it put music on C when rest of Onedrive folder is on E?

note: not talking about my music library, it points to E as well. That is where I located the folder for music... I think the one in C is for any files I have downloaded from Onedrive as I have a fair amount of my music on it - since I have a Office subscription and have 1 tb of space, I use it to store music.

That would make sense as it was on Onedrive to begin with. Its where the music came from to be on my PC. I had uploaded it on previous PC.

Biggest file in Program files is Diablo 4. Might remove it one day
next biggest Diablo 2 - I see a pattern here.
Windows.old is 39gb but it disappear by itself soon enough.

Go to website I have got all my desktop wallpapers from in last 25 years. Try to download file and get oops error... try another browser, same thing. Contact site and tell them, since its clearly their end. I can logon but can't get any images.

bored is when I start updating programs:

2. RGB Fusion updated... its still just as confusing though I am wondering which rgb header my aio fans are on now.

I don't think there is anything safe left now. I won't do sound drives as I am not crazy (has his doubts)

The default folders for Music, Videos, Documents, Pictures and Downloads are in \User—with a diff set for each User. So it's likely that's where OneDrive would download stuff to—there might be a setting for such in either OD or FileMgr.

I changed my library locations years ago. Music was on my hdd until I got the 4tb ssd.

The only library locations that remain default are Downloads and Videos. I don't have anything in videos so its empty, and downloads isn't essential to keep. Pictures is on Onedrive so it is likely included in my users folder, but those music files on C must be the files I have played out of my Onedrive folder and downloaded locally.
