Hello ,

I have to upgrade my pc for gaming (mainly for cyberpunk) this is my current setup :

CPU
Intel Core i5 4670K @ 3.40GHz
Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
12,0 Go Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
MSI Z87-G45 GAMING (MS-7821) (SOCKET 0)
Graphics
MSI MAG271CQP} (2560x1440@144Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (MSI)
Storage
232GB Crucial CT250MX500SSD1 (SATA (SSD))
1863GB Seagate ST2000DM008-2FR102 (SATA (SSD))

My question is if i change my gpu to a Geforce RTX 3070 is it mandatory that i also change my CPU or i could be fine ?
if not i was thinking of switching to a BB50M DS3H motherboard with a Ryzen 3600 is it okay?

i put my pc in part picker for a power usage test and if i add a 3070 my usage comes out at 451w, i think Nvidia just list a generous wattage to cover the PC power its self

This is the best PSU calculator around, at least it was last time I checked into these things. Anyway its still pretty good :)

Do you have a maximum budget you can spend upgrading? A 3600 is a decent choice of CPU for sure, if you can't wait for 5600X's to come into stock.

I suggest waiting until the stock situation improves, in the long run you'll be better off and you still have something to play on in the meantime.

Ok thanks you thats good news for regarding the PSU :)

Regarding my budget only upgrading the GPU for now would be perfect for me! but only if i can decent fps thats where im not sure if my current CPU could be enough for a fews month before i switch to a 5600X what do you think?

You can absolutely use a 3070 with a 4670k. Its not ideal but in many situations you will get improved performance.

Your GPU will be limited depending on what you're playing at what resolution and what refresh rate. But it won't break anything and if you intend to upgrade the CPU soon I'd just go for it. If you can find a 3070!
