Coming fresh of my rant in the general gaming thread lol, this is actually a good critique and probably why ill wait for a sale of this game. Im getting my samurai fix with Rise of the Ronin, even though it reviewed poorly and Ninja Gaiden Black remaster currently so ill probably be skipping the ubisoft rental part and just wait for a deep discount.

Although ill admit, i didnt finish KCD2 because it was boring to me i guess? Im glad its succeeding for sure but that game is so much less fun to me than Avowed or Helldivers, or anything else i play. Im sorry, its also so immersive-breaking to not be able to sell a stolen hat or fork in another city in KCD over just being able to steal everything in Avowed.

My first thought when reading this was that it's ridiculous to sue a tool that makes up stories for making up a bad story about someone. The real problem to me seems that ChatGPT doesn't anonimise its data, so it collects a ton of personal data and stores it in a way where this data can be retrieved, even if not always accurately, but it doesn't adhere to privacy protection laws.

And I suppose this is the problem with ChatGPT using copyrighted works to train on as well, too much of this copyrighted data is encoded in such a way that it can be retrieved even if it's not entirely accurate.

I get that. Considering how deadly the flora and fauna in Australia can be, I'd say they've seen enough horror.

And yes, making fun of Australia for all the ways it can kill you will never not be entertaining.

Good lord, shoutout to this guy for speaking what's been on everyone's minds lately. These anti-woke weirdos have absolutely nothing better to do in their life than complain about video games not having exactly what they want it in. If you don't like what a game offers, just play something else. This guy spoke my mind exactly about this sort of thing, and it has confirmed to me that it really has been happening a lot more lately, not just me noticing it more. It's getting so tiring. The Dead Internet Theory must be real, no way there are this many real people with nothing better to do than complain that a game they will never play has a black character, trans character, queer character, whatever it is that gets their nose so full of snot and has to spew it all over everyone else.

@ZedClampet this sounds like something you might enjoy.

OH CRAP! That was my favorite demo from Next Fest. I had no idea it had launched. Thanks!

That's the game where I tried to put the disabled kid's wheelchair into the recycling box :)

Action RPG but not the type I like... back to drawing board.

I wish instead of "hardcore" they would say "challenging" because "hardcore" means a lot of different things.

I always built my fort in the mountains. Not only does it feel more appropriate for a dwarf to live in a mountain, it also means I don't have to deal with aquifers.

You're most welcome! I did a search on the forum to check if you'd mention it before, but it didn't come up with anything.

To me it means its not a walk in the park. Trailer makes it look like a park I wouldn't want to walk in anyway. Beasties at every turn :)

Hardcore does have varying meanings, as to how extreme it is. Some games it can mean you only get one life. Others just means its how hard the battles are to win.

I can't see what they mean by it. But then I can only watch demo. Or sit through hour long playthroughs.

I may not have even said what game it was, just posted the picture and what I was doing. Played some yesterday, and it starts with a pretty fun intro. I can tell the police are going to be a lot more trouble than they were in the demo. When they search you it's kind of cool, you have your hot bar at the bottom of the screen with your inventory in it, and their search is represented by a bar that moves from left to right over your hot bar. You can hide one item in your hot bar by holding left click on it. Right now it's easy for me to keep my illegal stuff to one thing and I can hide it, but I'm sure that soon I'll need to be carrying multiple illegal items, at least when I start the day.

Per the trailer you can get into shootouts with police and drug kingpins, but I haven't played nearly enough for that yet.

Bank account? Elon checks under his sofa and sees its probably in his lost change...

Don't tempt him, he did say he wanted to make a game company. One short cut is buy another.
Fix it same way as X, fire 60% of the dead weight and still make a profit,
their financial position would be fixed overnight

tbh, I prefer to be in his position than theirs.

This is exactly the sort of thing Musk would do. Twitter made him mad, so he bought it, and Ubisoft isn't worth nearly as much as Twitter was. He'd have less angst buying Ubisoft than I have buying computer components.

Obsidian dropped a new patch..... For Pillars of Eternity 1.

Obviously theyre seeing sales off the back of Avowed, good for them, and good on them. Turn based mode to be added in later this year. Nice.

Ain't that the case that when a company grows, the culture gets booted out the window and stomped into the ground. Play Nice, the recent book by Jason Scheier catalogued the same at Blizzard. Seen it myself at a company I worked at; it was at it's best at around 80 people when I joined, but steadily went downhill from there.

Excited to hear about this, maybe I'll finally give PoE another go. Played it up until the first big city maybe two or three times, but always peter out right around there, cause there's just so many people to talk to, I'm unsure what to do.

I have a similar story, Ive played it up until the second city once, but I was being completionist and did all of the Caed Nua dungeon and completed Act 2 according to my achievements. Then started again not getting as far. Ive done the same in POE2, actually have a fairly recent save right at the start of the last area, Im pretty sure its the last boss and havent finished it.

Around 200 hours over the two games and havent finished either one, so I like them a lot but never quite get to the end somehow. Aaaand I probably just did the same with Avowed.

There are several games I have installed where Im a good way in and lost motivation, keep thinking I will go back.

That's all rather depressing. They need to create something like a creative team (think modders) that works separate from the main team and can add all sorts of interesting things to a game.
