does anyone remember those? Those CD-ROMs that had like 500 games on them, they were all shareware demos though. I remember Hugo's House of Horrors, Wolfenstein 3D, and a whole lot of games that probably no one can remember the name of.

I had so many of these, and I would often spend weekends just going through each game to try them all.

I never had one of those, but I used to buy PC Gamer magazines all the time back in the '90s/early 2000. I always grabbed a magazine whenever I was taking the train and loved looking through them, not to mention playing the demos. Here is Metaljesus Rocks going through some PC Gamer Demo CD history.

Those were awesome, really made use of that newly acquired optical disc drive back in the day.

And I've got a ton of PC Gamer demo discs that sustained my appetite to try new games. Did Coconut Monkey's Gravy Trader ever arrive?

Hell yeah, I've still got a bunch of them. Picked most of them up when I was running a local BBS, it was kind of a status symbol thing - not just to have all the files on demand, but as kind of a sly way of letting people know that, yeah, that's right, I got a CD-ROM.
