Who is your favorite male game protagonist?

Rules: You had to be forced to play a male. There were no female options.

This one is easy for me. It's Geralt. The only problem here is that you have a lot of dialogue options that can choose that make him not such a nice guy, but I never picked those options. For me, he was manly, strong and even compassionate. He was also an outcast and someone who could have really made people's lives miserable, but he took the ridicule heaped on him and just moved on.

Manny Calavera from Grim Fandango. So upwardly mobile, I envy his capacity for flourishing through career changes. Cleaner to casino owner in a year, and then cleaner to ship's captain in another year. I've been working for over fifteen years in one industry and I still have to pick up a mop from time to time.

Guybrush Threepwood of course. The Monkey Island games are probably the funniest games I've ever played and Guybrush Threepwood is a large part of that.

Honorable mention to Ezio Auditore.

These threads did make me realize that I generally prefer games in which you can make your own character, though that's not to say I don't enjoy games in which you have to play as a certain person.

Alucard from the Castlevania series. He is a dhampir, half-human, half-vampire, so a good mix of the best. Handsome, smart, witty, agile, good with swords, and near impossible to kill. He is also a shapeshifter and since I have always wanted to fly, this would be a perfect fit. The gothic universe is also very cool, so I could see myself enjoying living there, even if the world itself is kiiiiind of dark and brutal. Alucard loves good food/wine, so I'd probably spend a lot of time eating and drinking the good stuff, ending up as a bit more chunky (near impossible feat), but still an agile dhampir.

No female options definitely narrows the choices down. While Geralt from the Witcher games was almost my choice, I have to go with Jax from Elex.

He is similar to Geralt, in that he can choose to help people by being more compassionate, or to go a more synthetic route, thus increasing his "cold" rating, by working against the npcs and factions he meets. All his choices will lead to how the game plays out, as well as the final outcome. Every choice he makes, every action he chooses accumulates into how his character evolves.
