What famous old games have you not played?

I haven't played most older games so my list would be too long. I'll just hit the highlights (note, I've played at least a few minutes of all of these, but that's all)

System Shock
Bioshock
Deus Ex
all GTA
Thief
original Doom
Dishonored

I have a hard to describe standard as to whether I've played a game or not. If I reach a certain point in the game, I usually feel I've played it, as opposed to just going in for 30 minutes and never coming back. I've never, for instance, finished Half Life 2, but I got to Ravenholm and feel like I played the game

i was going to say there is no way you never played the original Doom... its been on almost every console/computer format. But I let you live as you may have played a little of it.

Stacks of what are classified as "classic" games that I have never played.

Never played Half Life (probably why I don't care if they never make 3)
I think I played System Shock long ago... but the rest you mentioned are on my list too. Outside of Doom but I never finished it.

That is a shocking list to me lol. Honestly dont think id be into the games im into these days w/o playing any of them outside of System Shock.

For me itd be..

The Sims
World of Warcraft
All Final Fantasy games
Metal Gear Solid
Everquest
Pokemon
Starcraft
Any sports game
Any TBC game outside of Dragon Age.

I have put a couple of minutes into some of these and im absolutely leaving a bunch off that i have only barely touched, but i think this is a good start.

Thought of a few then went through some top 100 lists to get a few more ideas so its definitely not exhaustive.

Fable
Grim Fandango
System Shock
Thief
World of Warcraft
Monkey Island
original Xcoms
Team Fortress
Counter Strike
No One Lives Forever
DOTA
LOL
Left For Dead
Dead Island.

Theres a lot of big franchises I havent really played much or many of, Assassins Creed, Final Fantasy or Yakuza for example. Usually because I played one and was too excited by it. Lot of MMOs and point and click games because I just wasnt all that into them ever.

I very rarely played video games until the mid-2000teens because I mostly just worked constantly until the kids were born. I can probably list almost everything I played up until that point on PC (I played a lot of console when I was young):

Wizardry
Bards Tale II
Papyrus Racing 2003
Need for Speed Carbon
Neverwinter Nights 2
Resident Evil 4
Duke Nukem 3D
Doom 3
One of the early MS Flight Simulators
Various American football games
Temple of Elemental Evil
Various Might and Magic games (not heroes)

I come close to playing that many different games in a week now. :ROFLMAO:

That was basically it for the first 45 years of my life, other than some Atari, Colecovision and half-a-dozen N64 games and a couple of card games. Oh, and I finished Super Mario Brothers one time during my college Christmas break. My brother had a Nintendo.

That's why I suck at most dexterity-based games. I didn't really get into them until I was old and my children got into them.

Planescape: Torment
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2

These ones for me, as well. Although, I guess maybe you can kind of count. I have played a couple hours of Planescape, but as soon as I got out of the first area and into a huge city where I needed to talk to everyone, I noped out.

I put maybe 15 hours or so into BG1 and enjoyed my time. Always meant to go back, but feel like I can't play BG2 until I finish the first, even though I'm aware it's not true.

As for myself, I believe I've at least tried most classic PC games via demo's and whatnot, but I guess:

Fallout 2
BG 2
BG 3 (Does that count yet?)
Hexen 2
Civilization 1-4
Simcity (any of them)

But also many, many console games:

Final Fantasy 7 (guess I've technically tried it, decades ago)
Goldeneye (same)
Pretty much any console 3d Platformer

There must be more of each category, but I'll have to think on it.

I've played a lot of different games over the years, but there are still quite a few classic games I've missed.

DOOM
KOTOR
Diablo series (except one hour in Diablo IV)
Planescape Torment
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
System Shock
Deus Ex
Day of the Tentacle
Grim Fandango
Thief
Resident Evil series
Final Fantasy 7
Metal Gear Solid series

Thought of a few then went through some top 100 lists to get a few more ideas

I also went through some of those lists, but man are most of them garbage. Though I suppose it is hard to quantify exactly what makes a game a classic.

A lot of the older ones.

The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 isn't that old. It's one of those games from the last few years that I just haven't gotten around to yet.

*checks release date*

Okay, so maybe it's almost 10 years old, but that's not that old.

and I barely got anywhere with Elden Ring

Elden Ring is not even 3 years old, that one definitely doesn't count.

There are tons of console games I haven't played. I played a little Mario cart racing at work as part of a team builder event but, other than that, the last Mario game I played was Donkey Kong.

I don't think many people played System Shock 1 when it came out. It's SS2 that really took off and became a classic.

Stuff I haven't played...
  • Call of Duty (except CoD 1)
  • MOBA games, including League of Legends
  • The Sims games
  • The only Grand Theft Auto I played was #3, and I didn't play for long
  • Sim City (I did play Sim World many decades ago)
  • X-Wing and TIE-fighter games
  • Freelancer
  • Stardew Valley
  • Any Ultima game past #4.
  • Syndicate
  • The whole Resident Evil series
