I thought about upgrading to 5070. But the price and problems are putting me off so far. I'm waiting for the official announcement from AMD and real prices in stores.

Makes sense in that case. I remember with the 3000 series it was the same so people were buying 3080 systems and selling the extra parts because it was way cheaper.

I would think supply would catch up in a few months if the whole tariff thing doesnt blow prices through the roof by then.

The defect is enough to make a 5080 perform like a 4080 Super but for more money.
50 series, where you pay more for the same performance as older cards.

Think I would wait before buying as there is no visual way to know (right now) if the cards are right or not. Don't buy until Nvidia and reviewers confirm its fixed... but then always be chance of some old stock. Depends how Nvidia fix it. Can't do it with software.

Nvidia need to speak up. They said it was only 5090 and 5070 TI but Steve has a defective 5080... so they need to look harder.

Lots of people won't know any better and with the scarcity of the cards, many may not want to rma a card that mostly works and wait for a replacement.

Nvidia drivers should have a test in them that shows what you have. Should run on any 50 series card as a test to confirm and highlight field in red if its wrong.

In my time reviewing the RTX 5070 it's become increasingly clear the AMD ambush has completely pulled the rug from under Nvidia with this release

The more time I spend with the RTX 5070 the more it feels like it really ought to be the RTX 5060.

Its got half the shaders of the 9070XT so fair to say as its clocked similarly it was probably be about half of a 9070XT. Thats quite a big gap, puts it only a little faster than an RTX 4060. Going by whats happened here the 5060 wont be much faster than that.

All speculation based off AMDs numbers and the info from TPU there, but if that's the case it better be really cheap.

Hardware unboxed benchmarks show the 5070 is essentially a relabelled 4070 Super. You could have bought the same performance 6 months ago, though the 5070 is $50 cheaper (in theory).

Unfortunately, the video of the 9700XT toy shop demo released by AMD leads me to believe no one should be buying any video cards at all right now. That's some seriously embarrassing performance. No one would game with their new AI generation on.

Will be interesting to see what Nvidia does with the 5070 now, but if the best AMD can do is give you double vision, then what does it even matter?

The GPU situation plus US tariffs are seriously concerning for the health of PC gaming.

I just want someone, anyone, to make a decent low to mid GPU this generation. Intel? Nvidia is too engulfed in greed to care.
