Nvidia can push graphics as much as they like but if there is nothing worth playing, why upgrade.
Youre gonna have to speak for yourself there :)
One thing that is interesting is that Nvidia is going to have to make a significant breakthrough next time in terms of efficiency. The 5090 draws so much power that when you add the rest of the components in, the system can barely be powered by a standard US outlet. In fact, they are selling PSUs now that I could only plug into the outlet in my laundry room. I don't think they'll want to lose the US market, so the 50 series cards may be the last ones for awhile until they figure a way forward that doesn't include a big jump in power consumption.

I doubt I'll get a 5080. I'm going to wait and compare it to the 5070 ti. I'm not actually in a big hurry, but I'm going to be getting a payout on my 2080 laptop from the extended warranty company in a couple of months. I was just thinking that might get me a new GPU.
Yea the power use is awful, theyve really improved the coolers but these things are getting kind of silly at the high end.
I was just pointing that out since you and Kaamos kept mentioning AMD and people keep pretending that DLSS 4 doesn't exist. But for all we know, AMD will have something very similar when they fully reveal their cards. But everyone pretending that traditional rendering is all that really matters is kind of nuts. I'm not specifically talking about you two. I've been wandering around to different sites and seeing what people are saying.

The truth is that 90 percent of what people will be playing will be big AAA games and DLSS 4 will be in all of them, so AMD needs to keep up, and they probably will. We just don't know yet.

Obviously FSR has frame gen and upscaling, its improving but probably wont be as good as DLSS4 because they wont be using AI, assuming things go as they did before. Thing is if they can provide comparable quality and performance at a really good discount then they might actually grab some market share again this time around. I'd love to see Intel doing the same.

Expecting to get hardware on the day its released isn't something I normally do. It can lead to disappointments when they sell out.

I have only ever tried it once and I got the date wrong... by one day, and missed out on an 7900 XTX but oh well, XT was good enough. But that was online.

Shame you couldn't pre order them.
A lot of todays orders are essentially pre orders as the delivery dates are sometime next month or April.

I can buy a 5090 now, for the bargain price of $8975.00
Ali express haven't got any empty boxes yet

Did anyone here actually get a 50xx card? Would love to see a few pics of it.

Loved seeing lines of people waiting outside of Microcenters just to have them say they only have 5 of the card lol.

The 5080 only out-performs my 4080super by a very minimal margin. I was going to re-sell it so i could use that money for the upgrade but the hassle of doing that with what the 5080 benchmarks are showing, No way.

Steve guesstimates there were about 400 5090 total in your country today, BUT there are about 10X as many 5080.

Most videos call the 5080 the 4080 Super TI so you really aren't missing anything. Especially since most of DLSS 4 Applies to your card.

Once I rob a bank, I might be able to afford this card
$aud5700

I commented on the article but the guy said he set memory to +1000 and left it without testing. Theres a decent chance he'd get more out of it by lowering the memory overclock, because ECC on VRAM kicks in long before it crashes and the instability slows it down.

Still 10% isnt a crazy overclock unless youre reaching a bit. I had a Radeon HD7950 that went from 880Mhz stock up to almost 1200 on air without any voltage bump. Thems were the days.

600 Watts for a home GPU is too much however you put it, they could have at least engineered the damn thing properly.

Seems like a good video from Der8auer, hes been around a long time. I wish people would write articles though so I didnt have to spend 20 minutes of my life to get information I could have scanned in 2.

Welp, I cashed out a CD and I've got the money ready. Pretty sure I've decided on the 5070ti. Now I just have to decide on everything else...

That is, if I don't chicken out and get another laptop :ROFLMAO:

Hmm, what I saw said the 5080 was only 4% faster than the 5070 ti. Guess I should wait for reviews and see what the consensus is.

Well, I've actually got the money to get the 5080. I just didn't think there was hardly any difference for the price, so I need to see comparisons, I guess, that use more than one benchmarking tool.
As long as there's a decent supply I think the 5070 Ti will be the go to card for 1440 .... depending on how the 9070 benchmarks of course.

This PC will be 90+ percent used for creating, running and training AI, so I really can't use AMD. Most of the utility programs I use for AI won't even run on AMD, sadly, because they use Nvidia-specific features. So even if AMD has made huge advances in AI for the 9070, it won't help because everyone else has a 4090 or better (like cards meant for data centers--a100, quadro, tesla). I just refuse to spend that much because it's just a hobby I'm obsessing over. Plus, you can rent the use of an a100 for practically nothing if it comes to that.

Not surprised based on what we saw already. Technically its about 20% over the 4070Ti super at 4k, around the same as a 4080.

Its going to be really interesting to see what the 6000 series does, if gains are going to get even worse in raster because it seems to me they might have struggled to get something out this time and its not only the public but reviewers that are calling it out.

Still if youre buying something new for the money its the best thing you can get, they have us there.

AMD to announce 9070XT last minute price cut to $500 and clean up. I wish.
