Pre-builts aren't all bad.

I haven't been on here in a long while.
I did get one last year from Best Buy.
The so off brand PSU was unheard of by 2 people in my family that have worked with computers and I.T.

Current:
Corsair RM1000x

I scored a deal on a 4TB SSD which was to be my 2nd HDD.
Started having random freezes and shutdown/restart.
My uncle helped diagnose the errors and most were "Power stability issue."

He helped me narrow down what was the most likely problem. No problems since replacing that crap PSU.
It's a Cyperpower and for my first pre-built I have little experience to go on.
I do suggest that one replaces the PSU and get a modular one at that.

You do have to be careful when looking at Pre-Builts. I just checked CyberPower UK and a £2k pc was using a Corsair PSU and a £1k pc was using an In-win PSU.

I'd only use a company if it has a proper configuration tool.

that is their stock rubbish PSU they put in any PC where the buyer doesn't ask for something better, like your Corsair.

Not all premades are bad, just most of the big name companies are probably best avoided. The bigger they get, the cheaper the parts are they put in. I wouldn't buy one from Corsair, Dell, Acer, Asus, and maybe HP. They make them in bulk and a lot of cases they don't pass the tests

I would only use one if they let you choose from a range of parts... want a different case? okay... different CPU? okay... its your money.

You'll probably find most on here will champion self-built, including me

In my experience pre-builts are fine if their usage isn't stretching—so office machines or home PCs not used for gaming or other graphic-intensive work, with only one monitor and no large database apps running locally.

The ideal middle ground is probably a local small PC biz who will build for you and show you a list of parts beforehand and allow you to change any of them. They should also avoid any custom hardware gotchas or installed software bloat which often come with pre-builts.

Parents mostly got pre mades against my protests. Mum only uses hers for emails now. Brother put her on an apple tablet for pretty much everything else now. PC is in need of a bullet. It was slower than my last PC and was 1 year newer. Sure, it doesn't have an ssd.

Brother gets Apples so well, can't make your own of theirs... they don't like it anyway.

I know someone who always goes to same shop for his PC. So far they haven't messed up any of his builds and he has never had problems with them caused by the builds.

So they can be fine. You just need to be careful who you buy off.
