The only thing I've heard that is worth growing is Abyss seeds, which gives you cells, which is then used to craft cores. I think the cores are used to craft gears, otherwise you can slot the cores directly into your gear. I still haven't used any gears, but I have a good 6 of them in my camp stash.

I find it a bit interesting that Kliff supposedly cannot use guns, because if you look at any guns you craft or find, then they will be red. BUT, I have been using the Rhinard Cannon (the one I wear in the screenshot) for quite a while now, and that weapon is actually both a spear and it shoots unlimited cannonballs!

Still mucking about with the camp upgrade missions. I did some more exploration too. I zoomed out the map and realized there were big chunks of Hernand without any fast travel points discovered so I went looking for them. I found a couple, then stumbled upon another secret waterfall. This time it had some good gloves that had level 1 resistances to Ice, Fire and Lightning. Only problem is the attack and defense on my current gloves are a bit better, so I need to refine those new ones I found.
Wife is going to visit her aunt and sister this weekend, so you know what that means... gonna pull an all-nighter on Friday night 🤣 I have so much to do in this game, that's still barely enough time.
I keep dyeing my gear. I think I've finally settled on a color I like. The black was making it a bit hard to see the details of my gear, especially in darker areas.

Nice lookin' armour, reminds me of Dark Souls PvP matches when you meet guys who slowly walk towards the middle of the arena and you just know you are in for a fight!
Now I know what my next mission will be tomorrow: trying to find those gloves. I have little to no resistance except for food, so that would be of help.

The only hint I can give to you (because I really don't remember) is that it's behind a waterfall somewhere in Hernand. If I had to guess... I think I was towards the north-east side of the province? I don't even remember the name, I'll have to let you know another time. The resistances are only level 1, so when fast travelling to a snowy area it didn't protect me much at all. What I really need to do is find more recipes for food with those resistances, I think I have a level 3 Ice resistant soup but that's all for environmental protection.
That is all the hints I need, so either I find it through exploring or I miss it and that is perfectly fine.
After 53 hours, I'm not even halfway done with the main story and I haven't left the starting area. I've stepped a few feet into the other zones, but have explored less than 5% of those areas. By the time you start I'll maybe be at the halfway mark 🤣 I'm taking it slow and doing just the things I want to focus on, so it all depends on how you play the game yourself.
@Frindis the gloves and cloak I have are part of the Dark Ringleader armor set, meant to look like a Bleed Bandit captain. I can't believe how little unique gear I've found in this game, I'm hoping to get something else soon.
I really hope they add a transmog system to the game down the line, I'd like to customize my looks without sacrificing stats. After a while with this cloak, I'm starting to realize I look like a WWE wrestler with all the tassels and flairs jangling about when I run.
To add to that, I would also like them to make low-level uniques a bit more viable for the later game. I found a really cool spear that had this unique effect of collecting souls from dead people, then after some kills, it would send those souls outwards, making enemies confused if they got hit by it.
I guess you could always swap between weapons after the unique effect proc, but then you would have to take into consideration just how much longer it would take to kill mobs with crappy DPS.
Update: I just read that you can refine some legendaries and such through the kuku pot, but I have no idea when that starts to be a thing, and if you could even do that with the spear I found. It seems to me that something like that should have been in the game earlier (or at least mentioned), so people don't just vendor certain weapons because the stats are no longer good.

Ah man, I misread that and thought all of those were included in an patch today haha. Still very excited for these changes when they come around.
The crafting material storage is one change I'm very excited about. I tend to get rid of low-level crafting material that I don't think I'll need, then when I do need it I'm scrambling to find more. I've put higher tiered crafting materials in my storage but haven't found a use for a lot of them yet. It's also annoying to have to keep them in your personal inventory to use it, it clutters up your inventory very fast.
View distance changes is also very nice. I get a 'line' of detail ahead of me sometimes. I can see exactly where the full details are loading in, and where the detail is being reduced to a lower LOD. Most times you don't notice it so it doesn't bother me, but other times I can see that line very clearly. It's like the antistrophic filtering is set too low.
Random aside, but I don't see that as a graphical option in a lot of newer games anymore, yet many modern games suffer the same issue. Of course, this is how games need to be to maintain good performance, the whole level/world can't be rendered in full detail all the time, but the distance in which the LOD is reduced is always too short from the camera. Players shouldn't have to see that line of detail.
I'm barely far enough to even realize the enemy density problem but I did read the PCG article about it just yesterday, so it's nice to see they're already addressing that. I would be annoyed by that if I ran into it but sounds like it will be fixed before it's ever a problem for me.
Besides what they mentioned in the post, I can't think of any other issues I have with the game that can be addressed with a patch. Just the transmog system, character creator would be awesome, and fixing the low-level gear problem to make it easier to bring it to a higher-level build. That's another issue I haven't ran into yet personally but we do need an option to not have to leave low-level gear behind as you become more powerful.

Not once was DLC ever mentioned in the entire article. Yet because media literacy is at an all-time low in the US, people would rather watch some idiot make lies about the game and not read the article for themselves. Then everyone in the comments starts talking about what they hope to see in this non-existing DLC.
The only time they made any sort of mention about it was when the CEO was talking with shareholders two weeks ago and mentioned they'd rather see more base game sales through content updates than make a DLC.

Pretty chill weekend in Crimson Desert. Solved a mirror puzzle I got stuck in earlier, killed an earlier faction boss (the red mist thingy), and went around buying tons of meat and other cooking ingredients to prepare for a boss fight. Not particularly hard fight, but hard enough for me to rely on chugging food. He is very, very fast, and I am very, very slow in countering, so it is what it is.

Final conclusion is that performance has been mostly unchanged even though they keep claiming performance improvements in the updates. Stability is probably better, I've only crashed once and that was closer to launch than now, but performance remains about the same. That is the say, it's still really good but there is room for improvement.
The "boiling" effect around the edge of textures has been a bit more noticeable to me the longer I play. Turning the new setting option Displacement Scale to medium helped reduce the effect, thanks to the video.
Interior shadows have definitely improved but unless you're playing with the Maximum Lighting setting, you're still going to be able to see some artifacts. Maximum hurts my FPS by a good amount, Cinematic helps a bit, but Ultra gives the best performance to visual for me. The shadows seems to be voxel based, as they are pretty blocky. Hopefully that gets improved in the future.
I've reached Chapter 7 over the weekend. I must have played for about 10 hours all throughout. I'm getting camp quests done, got the ranch and farm built but haven't used them yet, added a ton of upgrades to my gear, it was a very productive weekend in Pywel.
I found out that I've been hording 11 Abyss Artifacts so I put those to use. I had no idea the glider had another upgrade to let you fly even faster, that's been a major help with getting around. I find the best way to travel without the horse is to use Axiom Force on a tree, X+Right Stick to swing around it, launch yourself into the air then glide down. You cover a lot more ground compared to sprinting. I do wish that Axiom Force had a bit more range though, it still seems a little short.
I tried to branch out and explore more, just to find out some hard truths. The people of Pailune and Demeniss hate my guts. No matter where I went, I ended up getting surrounded by Black Bears or the various Demeniss armies. I figured I must be too early in the story or something, and turns out I was right. At least Demeniss is a bit more friendly after Chapter 6. The fact that I hit 66 hours this weekend and have barely stepped foot into either region is crazy to me, and not to mention the actual Crimson Desert, I've only seen it in the far distance.
That large war in Chapter 6 did wonders for my pockets. I must have killed between 100-200 soldiers, and they had some pretty good loot for my dog to pick up. I sold it all off besides the crafting material and made close to 150 silver. I then joined a match of Five-Card, and I thought the buy-in price was 15 silver, not 150... thankfully I kept winning and made about 40 silver back 🤣
The two chapters with the big fights were tons of fun, my favorite chapters by far! Cool boss fights also.
Need to do some abyss crafting soon, got a few more goodies there, some more food to cook, as I have been hoarding an absolutely insane amount for the next boss fight that has three phases, and this boss is even faster than the last one!
I'm also building a bridge and did another puzzle, a kind of clockwork puzzle with a lever you have to push around to match some symbols. Not hard, but I like how it is made, some nice details.
@neogunhero Just in case you are looking at my silver and wondering wtf is going on, I *cough* have to admit I save scummed one run in the five card and decided not to do it again (because it was tempting) and then changed silver into gold bars to invest in bank for long profit 0-2% margin meaning I won't loose profit, but might not get any either for a long time.
Actually, I blame it on Yann. Yann has been such a bad influence for Kliff, and knowing that people cheat in five-man, I mean, if you look at it from that perspective, I mean, really, really look hard, it all makes perfect sense😎
Aaaaand, aaaaand, and I am not making excuses even if it clearly is what I am doing: If I really wanted silver, I could just go the legit way and grind those gas masks I talked about a few posts earlier for 15 silver each and do that for a few hours, and I would have even more silver.
