PC Upgrade CPU recommendations

Going to be upgrading my gpu to either a 3070 or 3070ti, my current cpu is a i5-8600k and I think it will bottleneck the the gpu slightly.

Was going to buy a ryzen 5 5600X as it's £160 currently on amazon but unfortunately my motherboard doesn't support amd.

Is there an intel processer for a similar price of the same performance or will it cost more for intel? i am seeing the i5-12400F for a similar price would this be a good option? if not what intel cpu would work well on my build? or should I replace my motherboard and get the 5600X?

What youre missing is that your motherboard is not compatible with any CPU's past 9th generation, as Intel changes the socket and compatibility a lot.

You would need a new motherboard for a new CPU whether it was AMD or Intel
