Mainly just because I see a lot of other games do something similar. If you own the original, then you get a discount on the remaster, at least for a limited time. It's not necessary though it would be nice. I actually picked up the remaster when it was on a steeper discount before the Autumn sale but then refunded it because it's so similar to the original... so maybe I shouldn't be talking

I wonder if it would be possible to also detect which keys on a keyboard are being pressed by analysing the mouse. Most keyboards are on the same surface as the mouse, so I would suspect the vibrations from pressing a key are much stronger than the vibrations of a voice.

Though even if you could distinguish between different key presses, you'd still have to figure out which letter corresponds to each key press and it would probably also require the mouse to stay still.

To be honest, im in the boat that, if you havent bought a game thats 25 years old and been gaming that long, it could not be a high enough priority to have wanted to play it in the first place, for me there are only a couple games that got delisted that id care to own, but only because i never heard of it. Marvel ultimate is.

si mush so im looking to buy a ps3 just to play that and a few others

That said, i have far mmore that never went digital, that i wish did, to me thatsthe real issue.

I suppose there are some new modern gamers with taste that appreciate old games from before they were born. But the simple fact games are getting delisted, its because those people are so rare. No one delists a game selling 100s or 1ks of copies a month 25 years later.. they do it because nothing is selling and its not worth supporting any more.



In the end though, gog is a far superior place to buy older games. there are games on steam that i directly tell people to skip the steam version because gogs is better,or in so e cases the steam version no longer even works, and im not talking about config to work, i mean completley broke that it needs a new exe.

Steam has absolutley horrible legacy support as well,or should i say non-existant. Its so bad in fact its nearly criminal. The simpke fact they can sell you a game that runs an OS, then remove that OS from support so you can no longer even play the game that you brought for said os, unless you make a frozen in time back up, but then you can even add another game from that era, with out updating, and then you'd just loose your access anyway. Hope you have a good back up plan and never want to get anything else for said machine.

Gog you just log into your account, dl a fresh copy or buy something new, save to a stick and install on your favorite DOS, 3.1, 85, 98, 2k, system and retro game on! They even update games with fixes so you dont have to spend hours hunting for config files too. Sometimes the even roll in essential fix packs or wide screen support.

This is exactly why I will avoid uploading my photo ID for verification for as long as I can. Thankfully I haven't ran into any sites or services that require that besides doing my taxes online. Such a flawed solution, but unfortunately seemingly one of the best we've got for children safety online.

yep. Called it. This was why i was annoyed by the UKs insistance to use real photos and government issued licenses for authentication. its not effective and there is too much risk of getting compromised. Whats more annoying is that it goes to a 3rd party company outside of the Uk to verify and theres not enough security auditing for data compliance.

I've always had a soft spot for SS2. I've played a ton of other SS games but have always enjoyed the cartoonish aesthetics of 2 the most. I think a lot of people are put off by them, but the gameplay is just as solid as any other SS game, along with having some unique weapons. I might have to give this another go, a dumb fun arena shooter sounds good right about now.

Or parents,could be parents and put controls on their kids devices... especially when all you need to do is install a free vpn.

I'm just amazed how people think this is such an issue, when cyber bullying is 100x worse than any 18+ site could ever do, and apparently thats not worth bothering with.

The amount of damage that can be done on a site like steam, or basically any social media site or forum is the real issue for kids. No kid is comiting suicide because they saw a boob, but nearly every day a kid kills them selves or kills some one else because they snap because of bullying. Just look at how many school shootings that you can draw a strait line from years of being bullied to now a killer, then the shoot themselves or are shot by police.

But tackling real problems is hard. Pretending your making the world safe for kids woth an age check isnt going to help anyone. All its doing is a politician can pat themselves on the back and say see I'm helping your childern, when the reality is, the didn't do a damm this to actually help anyone.

Sorry for the rant, but this stuff really pisses me off. If the really want to help people they should moderate public sites and parents really need to monitor there kids internet use. Those are things that would actually help make the world a better place.

You're totally right though. It's just a bandaid on a gunshot wound, it does not fix the real issues kids have online. Yes kids should still be safe from viewing adult sites and young kids shouldn't be allowed to see blood and gore, but as you said that is something the parent can do easily when the platforms kids tend to be on show reluctance to moderate that sort of thing. Not just VPNs, you can also create a blacklist directly on your router settings to block certain sites from being accessed, and I'm certain there are a whole plethora of other tools parents can use to make sure they don't see things they shouldn't.

Using real world photos and IDs for verification is just a massive security hole waiting to be exploited and to no ones surprise it already has been. I get the idea, but the implementation does not work as intended, especially since kids have already been able to bypass it using pictures of Norman Reedus in Death Stranding.

It still doesn't seem like someone has a better idea that can be widely implemented though. Like most things, the main line of defense comes from the parent when it comes to these kinds of things. Parents need to be better educated at how to keep their kids safe online, and that is something the government could actually help with.
