November 2025 PCG Article Discussion

I wonder why I've never heard of this game before. I've added it to my wishlist, it sounds really interesting.

Sometimes I wish I had a project I could enjoy working on for my entire life, but instead I struggle even finishing most of the games I start playing.

Went to their website and saw it was recently released on GOG. Will try and pick it up and see. From what I read looks good and saw on their website they have a 9/10 Steam rating.

Must add I have never heard of it either. Since 1996 .......... well ok if they say so. Might have been hidden inside Finland for many years. Heard that it took Draken sang (The dark eye) 2 years before it was released outside of Germany. Maybe similar situation

Seems to be on sale for $6.50 US on GoG right now.

Looks like a really cool game and I love what they're doing, though it's definitely not for me. Given too much freedom and a sandbox, my brain usually just shuts down instead...
Just like everything else it is more expensive in the "poorer" countries. Eventually got away with $14 (About) which was R290.

Game is ummmm "Odd". The mouse is usable but not for movement etc. I created a testing Character and just took a stroll about. Each step needs to be done with the "Up arrow" on the keyboard, then directional changes is the left and right. This only change the direction you are facing and does not move the character. I have seen something similar many years ago but honestly do not remember where or when or even what it was called. Certainly, something to get used to.

Pretty much the whole game is played on the keyboard. I did the "Training" version of it and needed to find water. After day 2 got lost and could not find my camp so quit without saving. LMAO that character is now listed as an Ancestor that did not make it past 2 days in the wilderness.

Since I do not know much of the game nor how to play it I cannot fairly give an opinion on it. Only way would be to play it and see what happens. Least now I know to makes sure I remember where my camp is.

Bottom line, yes FULL (No frills) Nature survival game. No Zombies, no Aliens. Just you, the animal kingdom and nature. Loved the Lores written at the start of the game.

Recommend it to someone? not yet and would be unfair to the creators to give an opinion now since I do not even know how to play it yet. Ask me again in a few days.

I was very excited for that patch when it was first announced back a few years ago. If you're not into the whole SR fanbase, there was a modder named IdolNinja who created Gentlemen of the Row which was a comprehensive bug fix and content mod for Saints Row 2. He was eventually hired as a community manager and did lots of live streams over at Volition which gained him fame amongst the fans. During one of Volition's anniversary live streams, IdolNinja among other top Volition executives announced a massive mod patch that will effectively remaster SR2. As the article goes on to explain, sadly he passed away before the mod could be finished, Volition pledged to finish it to honor him and fans, but sadly Embracer Group closed them down shortly after.

The Saints Row fanbase is a very devoted one even after all of ups and downs of the franchise. This patch was a massive beacon of hope for the fans, that maybe after this Volition could pick up the pieces and make something that resembles the games we loved. IdolNinja was battling cancer and he was very open about expressing the difficulties he was facing. After he passed in 2021, the amount of love that he, his family and Volition received was very moving. The fans were dedicated to the series and wanted to see the best for it. Volition did too, but were caught up in lots of corporate red tape as well as financial issues. SR3 sold great, but 4, Gat out of Hell, and Agents of Mayhem did not. Then they did the SR reboot which still I have no interest in touching. It was clear they weren't making the games they wanted, but instead made the games shareholders wanted.

It's just a sad tale about a dedicated fanbase wanting to see the best come out of the franchise they so dearly loved only for it to be snatched up by a massive conglomerate investor group that does not have any interest in rebooting it. IdolNinja represented the fans desires, but unfortunately he had issues of his own out of his reach. Volition treated him so well, so that makes most of us think they also had the fans best interests, but again financial issues and corporate issues caused them to shut down.

This new pitch though... I don't want to get my hopes up again like with the SR2 patch, though I'm interested to see what happens to it. SR1 is still great, but he left after that, and SR2 is what the fans really love the most. SR1 was clearly trying to compete with GTA before they had an identity of their own with SR2 and I think that's the reason why SR2 is much more beloved.

Volition is one of the Old Ones, too. They made Freespace and, under the name Parallax, Descent 1 & 2. I really don't like seeing them tank.

I can't say I'm interested in a prequel to Saints Row 1 at all. 2 was good, but 3 was my favorite.
(In my head cannon, the Boss was put in a coma at the end of SR1 and never woke up. S/he just dreamed, with those dreams becoming less and less realistic as the boss lost touch with reality over the years.)

Huh, I had no idea they went back that far.

Haven't played PoE 2, though I do own it on GoG. But I've always meant to play the first game and turn based combat is immensely appeal to me.

That said, I've never played any of the Baldur's Gate games and I feel like I should play BG 1/2 first before jumping into PoE.

I haven't played any of these games, but if I had to guess who wins I'd pick Silksong, considering it broke every platform it released on because of the sheer amount of people wanting to play it immediately.
Out of all of those games I've only played Split Fiction and I'd be surprised if that doesn't win co-op game of the year. Hazelight's last game It Takes Two won GOTY in 2021.
