It's on to the next survival game, Nightingale. While the graphics are much better, the setup reminds me a lot of Craftopia (by the Palworld devs). Honestly, so far I'd say Craftopia is a better game, but Nightingale isn't bad, and we've only just begun. The beginning is usually a little rough in survival games. The main problem we are having is performance related.

What does 'Follow' mean on Steam, how is it different from Wishlist?

I really enjoy and have fun learning one civ fully

That's my preferred approach in Civ etc also. Beat 'em to death, then bury and move on :)

I'll commend them for trying to figure it out on their own

…and then you'll show them the wonder of YouTube how-to videos—welcome back, Commander!

Dracula is easier in Marvel's Midnight Suns, I guess, but he sure was nasty!

Falcon of Gameranx has a fiery19m takedown of clueless execs ruining AAA gaming via GaaS pursuit of profit.
I saw that when it came out. Good for the first 5 minutes or so, but he went on and on and on and ON!
The button mouse-over says, "Follow this item to see announcements in your community activity feed".

Now if the mouse-over could have a mouse-over to explain where the activity feed is.
In Steam, go to the Profile header and pick Activity. That's how you see all your friends' achievements and sweet, sweet screenshots!

There's a V-Rising patch this morning that nerfs Dracula in 5 different ways. Going to try him again here in a bit.

  • Reduced damage on Vampiric Curse.
  • Blood Crystals no longer fire burst of projectiles.
  • Slightly reduced the number of extra projectiles spawned for each player in projectile-based spells during phase 2.
  • Tweaks to hitboxes on Circle of Blood to better match the visuals.
  • Slight increase in air-time on shockwave projectile knock up effect.

I watched the fight on YouTube and it looks really hard on brutal difficulty. I'd probably smash my keyboard before completing that task.
The sad thing is that it's easier solo than in co-op, and I still couldn't do it :) In co-op it's completely insane because all the area effects are multiplied by the number of players. I spent all my time just trying to dodge attacks.

I was somewhere between normal and brutal in both my co-op and normal games. The only difference between my game and brutal was that I had a little more health, about 10 percent in co-op and 20 percent in solo.

Nightingale does a lot of talking. People just go on and on. Reminds me of a Larian RPG.

So... Chivalry 2 is free on epic. Dare i jump back in in the hopes of getting some fresh meat or should i not bother? part of the problem is probably the sweat lords and those who kept playing when i stopped are there as well and... well, i'm not entirely sure if the games are all that balanced still. Ok, i admit its difficult to get balanced games, but i would like close games where at least i can hold my own.

i dunno, maybe i'm too thin skinned for multiplayer and i don't have the to git gud.

Onto other news, i've reinstalled arcade tycoon to see if i can fix the floor bug. hopefully i can navigate around the problem using multiple saves etc.

Thanks for the heads up, I thinking getting mixed in with the new players would be a good time. Of course it’s only new players on Epic when the game is crossplay on many different platforms so you may still encounter a ton of sweats. It’s funny this game still has so many people like that, I remember Chiv 1 from over 10 years ago having people doing stuff like setting FOV to 150 and playing very sweaty.

part of the problem is no one wants to play defender and people do their utmost to switch teams as much as possible to attacker so they become one sided even if the devs try to restrict it as much as possible. its a bit like a fighting game i guess, use all sorts of faints and counters to get through defences. At higher levels they're untouchable. I personally like to play in 3rd person mode, but the disadvantage is accuracy. 1st person mode does make it more exciting but i feel even more sluggish when i play it and its extremely disorientating.

I'm a couple hours into the Control Foundation DLC. Its fun so far but nothing revolutionary, just another adventure with Jesse clearing up the Hiss remnants in the basement. The Alan Wake DLC looks like it might be something a bit weirder, and having not long ago played AW2 it might be more interesting story wise.

Feeling like after this I want to play something a bit weirder and new. Animal Well or Cryptmaster maybe.

Also Elden Ring DLC is hitting in a few weeks and I dont have a character placed to go straight into it, have to find the motivation to get there soon I guess, but plenty of time.

Finished Far Cry 6, will post more later in its thread.

The penultimate and final missions were quite good, well above my expectations. Closest to the FC4 ending style, in that while there was definitely some non-FC play—melee, corridor, urban—it was still basic combat, not silly stuff like FC5 or New Dawn endings.

Still messing around in Civ 5 Wide too, finding the combo of Emperor level and Raging Barbarians to be a challenge. I've found a map which should allow me to practice and fine-tune my early game some more—I'll post more later in its thread.

I'm torn on sweatiness in games. Mostly I lean towards the idea that it's obnoxious try hardism, but on the other hand, I get it on the level that a person wants to be competitive and the best they can be at the game.

It's just not the way I want to play or interact with games, so I find it very off-putting.

My problem with sweatiness is that's it's typically just very selfish. The sweaty player only cares about getting their own points as high as possible, without caring about having a fun time with the people they're playing with. They don't stop to offer new players advice or just give them a chance to improve. They often don't even seem to really enjoy playing the game, they seem to just enjoy winning.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment, I've run into this in Warhammer; one of the last randos I played was pretty sweaty. Nice guy and talking to him outside the game we had a lot in common, but he was so motivated to win, it really made playing with him unfun.

Playing a game, I'm way more interested in telling a story and having a good time with whomever I'm playing with, so to have someone who is telling me I can't do something because they've intentionally left their model half an inch away from mine is just tiresome and irritating.

Thanks, this gave me a breakthrough for why I find that personality type so off-putting. I've been scolded in the past for feeling that way, so it's nice to have a better understanding of that.

I still haven't returned to The Outer Worlds, it's been like 8 weeks now. One reason is that I just haven't had much time, but I've managed to make time before. The main problem is that I'm terrible at progressing through two games at the same time. Once I got Slay the Spire, I just wanted to play that, even when the desktop PC was available. Then I pretty quickly dropped that once I got more into Pokémon Infinite Fusion.

I decided to make Pokémon Infinite Fusion a bit harder for myself by giving myself the rule that I had to get new Pokémon after defeating a gym. I can also only use as many Pokémon as the Gym leader uses, which the game already enforces for the gym battles themselves.

Since I've played enough regular Pokémon, I also always use fusion Pokémon. However, I realised pretty late that, since the fusion uses the average of the stats of the two Pokémon you fuse, it doesn't work well to fuse a Pokémon specialised in physical attack/defence with one that specialises in special attack/defence, as the fusion stats will be kind of garbage in both then.

Later in the game you unlock a fusion item that takes the best stat (and level) of each Pokémon, which eliminates this problem and opens a lot more options.

A couple of years ago we went thru our Wordle phase—and then WorLdle too, plus other similars.

Now—as in 2 years later—NY Times has decided not to like WorLdle's name similarity to Wordle

I've never played, even with the constant badgering from family members the last couple of years or so to try to get me to jump in.

I guess that makes me Wordless.
