Hi, I’m looking for any advice,

I’m not the most tech savvy person but my son wanted a pc so I bought one but having trouble with the microphone on a steel series Arctis Nova 5P,

I got it connected to Bluetooth and sound comes through the headset but when he’s playing a game he can’t seem to talk back to people,

Any pointers before I sell this for a ps5 ha,

Thanks very much.

Sounds like a settings problem. There should be a Mic Level gain or recording device setting either inside the game or if using steam, it will be in the steam settings. If the audio returns back in windows when testing it is working and you just need to "switch it on" inside the program or game you are using. Usually more than one option such as "Press to talk" "always on" etc. If you give me more information of what game your son is playing, I would be able to give you a better answer.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I found the settings in steam and changed to that the Bluetooth headset but didn’t help, It’s the game called squad he says it doesn’t show a mic on it and he can’t talk to teams, if there’s anything else you could suggest, thanks so much.

Had a similar problem with a Sansui soundbar at my daughters house when windows 11 22h2 just released. Speakers worked great, Mic test worked but in game mic did not work.

Need you to try the following. If you want to have a seat next to your son and then just tell me what you see each time when we get to a pause part.

Firstly, we need to clear out any Bluetooth device not Arctic. It might be another Bluetooth input device windows are using instead of the arctic. To check, right=-click on the speaker bottom right and open sound settings. about midway you will see microphone. It should have your Arctic listed there as Bluetooth default. Confirm that it is the same Bluetooth name as your audio E.g. Bluetooth NP356 (Or whatever name Arctic decided to use)

If they are not the same, then make your Arctic the default input device and arrow on the left, top you will see audio. dropdown box, select allow. Then test.

If they are the same, right click Bluetooth devices and show Bluetooth devices. remove all audio devices in there including the headset. Reboot and then pair the headset again. Check the default (as above) and test again.

I am infront of the PC now so will hang around for your reply.

Yeah when in the settings system and sound it shows that the headphones are selected for output and input is the same and says default device,

I found a settings page that says all sound devices for output and input and some of those weren’t enabled so going to try that.

Will be here. Tell me if it works. We tend to wait for "it's solved" many times but never know since we do not get feedback. LMAO

You are probably still rebooting but found your solution. There is a Bluetooth fault in squad as per a different forum (I may not advertise but it is not in PCgamer). I followed the links on your behalf to the following site. Small download with instructions on how to get it up and running.
