Wow. That's absolute nuts! Looks like the French politician saw a joke meme, thought it was real, and shared it, which gave credence to the meme. Pretty crazy mess.

"Thought?" I expect more like "wanted it to be true so believed it." Good luck getting through a month without pulling that one yourself. Being so common, though, I would think politicians would be smart enough to get a quick fact check before mouthing off.
