Debating between 2 used systems

Ryzen 7 3700x, RX580, 16GBs 3000mhz ram, 250gb ssd, 250gb hd - $700

I7 9700k, 2060 Super, 16GBs 2666mhz ram, 250gb HD, 500gb ssd - $1050

This will be my first gaming system. Obviously 2nd is better but $350 more. Do I go with the better one or cheaper one and upgrade like the graphics card later? Maybe even up to a 2070 super.

What games are you looking to play?

What monitor are you gaming on? What's the resolution and refresh rate?

Are you planning to upgrade the monitor?

If so, when, and what will your budget be?

Right now I have a 1080p 144hz monitor. Not sure if I'll upgrade or not.

Currently mostly play Modern warfare on ps4. So alot of fps games.

I'd go with the AMD build, both specs are good enough for pretty much anything you can currently play on it, it's your first gaming pc so it gives you a really nice starting off point which also leaves you $350 for any upgrades but most importantly plenty of games.

I think I agree.

An RX 580 is very solid for 1080p gaming, and competitive shooters tend not to be the most demanding of PC games to run too. And if you're playing them competitively you'll likely also be playing at relatively low settings anyway.

And it saves you a load of cash.

I agree with the other commenters here that the Ryzen build is the better way to go. For the $350 price difference, if you really wanted to, you could sell the RX 580, buy a 2060 Super, and still come out cheaper. I also think that the Ryzen 7 3700X is a better all-around CPU than the i7-9700K in 2020. Enjoy your new gaming machine!
