have any patches broke your games

Ok so if you look at this link you will see a posting about vaporum lockdown

Anyone doing vaporum lockdown ... i need help

I dont like looking at walkthrough videos but i had no choice , if you look at the video at 4.56 you will see somebody about to place a cog into a box and you will see a gate open , he then goes round the corner and goes through the second gate. My problem is that the second gate is not open...

After making the posting i decided to let mr google do a bit of research and discovered that when vaporum lockdown had 10 patches released in 2020 and 1 last november about a month before i got it. I went back and looked at the dates on the videos i watched about the problem i am having with the game and they were all made before the last patch so maybe its the last patch that is stopping me doing what i show in the video link,

This might also explain why players are saying blacksad and crystal rift either crash , are broken or unplayable. I completed them both before any patches were released.

Not for me, almost always improved things over time. Main one I can think of is Against The Storm which I first played before last Xmas. It ran fine but there was some stuttering and hitching in the late game, played it again a couple months ago and its running noticabley more smoothly all round.

I guess YMMV game by game, but I dont think Ive had a problem after patching. New GPU drivers however have caused problems on occasion.

Many years ago i can remember than nvidea had a lot of problems with update drivers , it was when they made drivers for individual cards instead of " series " . I cant recall what card i had at the time but after installing the latest driver i would run an aquarium screensaver and if i got zig-zag lines all over the screen i knew i was going to have a problem so i did roll back and waited for the next one.

Patches for Sacred 1 used to add more bugs to game while they fixed others.

Windows patches break things all the time, given how many different combos of hardware its installed on.

Hardware drivers can break things in so many ways.

It's happened to me a lot, but usually the devs fix whatever it was same day. But then you have the devs who release a bad patch and never fix it, kind of like that one Command & Conquer game.

Lots of patches break strategy games, so yes it'd happened to me many times. for the most part i dontbhave issues with that.

That said to reduce possible issues wait a month on most updates out side of critical fixes to see if there are issues with the update. I never update vid drivers unless there is a security patch or on the rare occasion I buy a game that needs a new driver.

Never had to do that, but like I said I only update on critical flaws, or a specific games update. At times I've gone over a year. The old saying I'd it ain't broke.

I just do normal matainance about once a month. Enhanced windows stuff if I do it once a year maybe. I never use any of the crap they add anyway

I know some will disagree with this but i am a bit like you... if it aint broke dont fix it..... i only update graphic card drivers if it looks like something not working right in a game.

With regards to windows rubbish you dont want or need , their is no point in uninstalling anything you dont use because updates give you the stuff back. Their was a time when you could hide an update or an windows add in that you did not want and it would not offer it you again. Now you have to except everything , their are 3rd party tools to do hide but they dont work. If you use them to hide something windows just think you dont have it so it gives it you again.
