Hey everyone! I'm a lifelong console player and after having my Xbox One burn out on me several months back I have been getting interested in PC gaming. I know almost nothing about the components other than some forum/article browsing I have done more recently. I'm not too interested in doing my own build at this point so I'm looking for something I can plug and play now and run well but will be easy to switch out/upgrade parts as they get dated.

I am currently looking at the Alienware Aurora R11 with an Intel i5 10600KF processor. From what I've gathered I shouldn't need too powerful of a processor because I have a pretty fully loaded MacBook Pro for all of my work... this new rig will be solely for play. For the rest of the configuration I'm looking at a GeForce RTX 2060 6GB, 16GB dual channel HyperX Fury at 2933MHz, 1TB M.2 PCle SSD, and liquid CPU cooling with 550W power supply.

Since I don't have much experience I'm just looking for any thoughts on this set up. Am I looking at this all wrong? Did you experts scratch your heads and laugh while reading this build? I'm mostly looking for something reliable and that won't have any issues running games at high quality.

Thanks for your input!

Like Boon72 says, budget is key. From your spec it looks like you're in somewhere around the minimum £1k mark.

I'm no expert, but the advice I've been given is to look at PC Specialist, Cyberpower PC, Scan, Overclockers UK, Dino PC, CCL and Novatech (if you're UK based?), and look what gets most bang for your buck. Also of importance are:
  1. what games you want to play
  2. what your performance expectations are for those games (some sellers feature game-specific benchmarks)
  3. what res you want to play games at

What's your budget? i'm sure there willbe better deals around for the Dell /Alienware pricing
My budget is in the $1200-$1300 range. I get a bit of a discount with Dell products through my employer so I was looking there first to potentially get some additional value.

Yeah the rig I had geared up above is around $1300US. I mostly play FPS games and some RPGs (elder scrolls, fallout, etc). I’d like to be able to run these at high quality settings.
