EA have cost me £300

I have been re-visiting old games that i have not used for a long time.
Today i tried to launch Mirrors Edge and i clicked the launch icon that took me to the interface and it would not run so i uninstalled it like you do on steam and then i tried to re-download it but a message came up saying access denied .. it has been download by somebody else ????? nobody else ever uses this pc.

I then opened the origin launcher and tried to launch mass effect 3 and dragon age 2 and saw a message something on the lines of origin is closed , i google how to get access to my origin games so i can transfer them to the electronic arts interface as they have taken over origin.

Long story shortened ..... it wont happen so , i have games in EA that i cant access and games origin that i cant use either.

I went onto EA customer online chat and after answering a few basic questions a box came up run by a different company say pay per help .... the more you ask the more you pay so i quit.

Mass effect 3 and dragon age 2 are £25 each on both GOG and Epic and as the title of the thread says ....... i have around £300 of games i cant use.

You can also link your Origin account to your Steam library in order to launch previously purchased games via Steam. Navigate to Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library, then find the relevant Origin games you want to add.

Okay, well, I don't have any EA Games as I didn't want to use their launcher... I didn't know Origin had closed. I vaguely remember having something that used them. Could have been a game pass game.

I mainly try to only buy games off Steam.

I have no idea what is going on, but EA does not charge to use their live chat customer service, and Origin is just what EA used to call their app. It wasn't a separate company.

I would begin by treating this as a security issue. Someone else may have accessed your account and downloaded games, but they weren't able to change your log-in. People camping on game accounts is pretty common.

So, 1st of all, change your username and password. Then look to see if there is a way to deactivate devices. You may need to get help from their free live chat for this. Anyway changing your username and password should force the camper to have to enter his credentials again. This might deactivate that device, not sure. In the end, you may​

just need to explain to EA that you were hacked and have changed your password.

Yesterday EA fried by brain .... i got to the final stage where they send you a code to type in so you can finish account recovery and access your games.

i clicked sent code to my email but i dont get the code and i checked all email and spam box so i guess i am stuffed.

I spoke about this briefly in another topic a long time ago. Was about Game usage etc. and the reason why I do not use steam as often as I can. I am speaking in general here and not condoning it but yet again proves a point I have been trying to make several times in the gaming industry.

If you now contact EA (or Origin) then they will tell you to take it up with your vendor which in this case will be Steam. Speaking to steam, they will probably not respond (usually what you get) or refer you to EA/Origins. Once you get extremely upset for paying for a game (or games) you are unable to play (especially in their forums under the reviews), you are told that you simply bought "access" to the games, and you did not buy the actual games. This "access" can as per T&C's be revoked at any time without explanations (Steam Policies). You can try this rabbit hole if you are up to it, I have been down it several times. (Dark siders remastered, Dragon Age Inquisition, Civilisations 4, Diablo 3, The forest, etc, etc, etc)

Unfortunately, this still leaves you without game or money. Replacing the game by re-purchasing "access" to these games, means you now bought it twice. Who pocketed the money of your original purchase or who is pocketing the new purchase?

This results into pirating where a pirated copy is downloaded so that you at least have your money's worth. I am not even sure if it is classified as pirating in such a case since legally you do have a purchased "access" license in steam (or GOG) but play the game from a different platform. Grey area there but unfortunately re-purchasing or going pirate route is your only two options. The middleman (In this case Steam) failed to provide what you paid for and blaming the creators, and the creators refer you back to the Vendor resulting in an increase of pirating site visits. Most of the time people who go there the first time does it out of need and then realise it is easier (and cheaper) to use and next time they just bypass the whole purchase and just get a pirated copy. Here a new Pirated user just got born and simply because he/she was originally forced to do this by the people that is against piracy.

I am really sorry to hear about what happened, but I personally buy a game, do not download it on the purchase platform, then get the actual game files from somewhere else. Mostly I do not have the benefits of free version upgrades etc and usually several versions behind what steam offers but have "access" to "my" games anytime without being told if, when and where I may play it. In the past (yes guilty) I have downloaded a game, played it a bit and only purchased access to it later. So, there are times I was playing a game I did not own but did support the creators later.

I am not saying start pirating games, do not place me in that bracket, I am saying that this is why pirate sites are still in operation. Vendors and creators are not communicating properly with their clientele, leaving the users to find other means to resolve issues. The only way to stop piracy is to get to the root of the problem which is the vendors. Trust me I have had my fights with GOG about similar issues as well, so it is not just a Steam problem.

Steam , GOG and Epic games clients are the best thing to happen to us gamers. You get a new pc and re-install their clients and get your games back. For some reason EA dont play ball i re-installed their client and see the games i purchased but when i tried to access them their set up said ... click here for us to send a 2 part code i did it over and over till i surrendered because their system is broke cos you never get the code..... customers services dont care

Over the years i must have thrown away about 40 game discs because when you try to install them on a new pc you have to put in the keycode and your email address THEN you get a message to say code and email already in use....... they are ...... BY ME ... i spent many hours battling with different customer services and never managed to win .... I bought all crysis games just before the pc they were installed on died ..... new pc said codes already registered ( by me ) so never got to use them.

One company even said email proof of purchase and we will help you .... do you have any 5 year old receipts in your home .... i know i dont.

Sad reality we face daily. I have mentioned my Diablo 3 boxed set before. This is a reminder of how steam failed me. I bought Diablo 3 via steam. Played a bit, had a crash on the system and lost the game. Downloading it on steam again was impossible because the key-code was already used (by me). Figured, no problem I will buy a disc copy. Went to a reputable games reseller in my area, bought it and you guessed it "key already in use". "Hard copy" vendor blamed steam, steam blamed my vendor. I then bought the box set on special (all three in a nice box). Cost me an arm and a leg and before I tore off the plastic, I re-stepped my journey with Diablo 3. I didn't open it and only ever played the "demo" part of diablo 3. Bought it 3 times and was my problem, no one else cared.

If you find a way to fix it, I am happy for you. In my experience it is an unwinnable uphill battle. Just saying that these kind of "uphill battles" promote pirating.

DO not get me wrong it happens everywhere and not just in the gaming industry but in software as well. I am the owner of Native instruments Chior 2020. I cannot use it since New NI do not recognize the version anymore and I cannot upgrade it since I cannot install the old version. Leaves me with either buying the new version or finding a pirate copy. LMAO NI helpdesk is even worse than Steam help desk ($190 in the water). Just saying that piracy is born from problems like these and somewhere, someone will have to fix it to prevent further piracy. It is the only way we will ever be able to stop piracy. Here in your case, you are "legally" (Using term loosely) in your rights to play the games..........but cannott.
