I've been gaming for more than 30 years, experience (and the industry) have taught me that most games are nothing but pure hype or BS (lets not all forget about The Day Before). I just generally don't get excited about games anymore........BUT I am so freakin STOKED for this.. there just isnt any good twitch franchises like this around anymore. Doom is an awesome IP with a tremendous history behind it and lots of die hard fans (also see Wolfenstein series - New Colossus was EPIC). I think the only complaint I have had over the years is that there hasn't been more of these kinds of games released. I mean seriously - I cant be the only one who LOVES these "oldschoolesque" twitch shooters

These are the kind of games that got me started.... Hard Reset, Legendary, Doom 3, Wolfenstein, Heretic - pure and absolute carnage in a way that only this genre can deliver. The previous titles were just about everything you could ask for technically, they run so great on just about anything- here's hoping they don't give it the "Enhanced" treatment and release a half polished turd that isn't runnable at 1080p by anything but a 4090 + 14900k. I have been very patiently waiting for a follow up to Doom and Doom Eternal and I think this whole medieval spin is an awesome, fresh face for the franchise.... They kinda have the ability to take Doomguy anywhere in space and time... GIVE US MORE!

ID Tech has run brilliantly in Doom and Wolfenstein far as I know, dont see any reason this wouldnt be the same.

Fantasy Doom... does that make this a new Quake game or a new Heretic/Hexen game? ;)

I liked Doom Eternal, but I hated the lore. Going back and exploring it more doesn't sound fun at all. The game might be great, though I wonder if I might have just as much fun playing Doom 2016 again - it's been several years now, so I won't remember much from my first playthrough.

The new Doom game was announced over the weekend and has a great trailer filled with gameplay. Love the looks of it. Says the game will be out in 2025. Post any doomy thoughts you may have :). I'm actually looking forward to this. Doom always looks and sounds great.

I’m really excited about the new Doom game too! The trailer looks incredible, and it seems like they’re bringing back the intense gameplay we all love. The visuals and sound design in Doom have always been top-notch, and I can't wait to see what new features they’ll introduce.

We may need a new thread for Doom, but before this game comes out, as a man of quiet demeaner and a de facto messenger of God, I implore you to reconsider your violent ways and check this game out instead:

Overwhelmingly Positive

The review is here:

I'm guessing it's a rambling, irrelevant mess that is painful to read and can't really be considered a review in any practical way. Enticing as that may be, I'm done with their reviews for now.

On STEAM it says the premium edition has a campaign DLC. Normally i never buy overpriced premium editions but i don't want to miss actual game content. Can you get that DLC later if you buy the standard edition?
Don't know for sure, but it's hard to imagine them locking people out of paying for it. Maybe the cosmetics will be that way, but I've got to think that the campaign DLC will be open for anyone to purchase, especially since it says it will be coming at a later date.

Got roughly 3-4 hours sleep between 12 hour shifts waiting for my LE to come in because it was raining and i didnt want to miss the window, plus i played a bit when i finally did get it lol.

LOVE this statue though. The key is also weighty and nice.

Now we need @BeardyHat to give his opinion on the Doom Guy paint job:)

I like that the statue has scratches, dirt, rust, and blood, looking like he's been in a fight.

Looks pretty great! Pretty professional and better than I could do, I'm sure.

Actually I'm curious how they do these, given it's essentially mass produced. Like, is there some dude in China that just paints these for his job and he's amazing at it, better than I could ever be at what I call a hobby? I see a few issues with it, but that's just my critical eye, because it otherwise looks fantastic.

Looking at it reminds me I need to get better with my airbrush; like looking at the shield how you can see it's a darker green around the edges would be a great effect for a tank. Kind of makes me think I should prime my next tank black and then hit it with a white primer, trying to hit just the raised parts, then go over it with my olive drab to keep the recesses dark, as well as just lends some variance to my paint scheme to look like it's a bit sun faded and/or hastily done.
