Video games want to be sports, right? Makes sense.
You track down and eliminate people for money in Stalker, so I suppose it could be considered a form of sport? Isn't Sports Illustrated mostly known for featuring women in light clothing and sportswear? Or maybe I'm confusing it with another magazine *whistles*
I agree with Swens sentiment and I like what hes been doing, but I did have a wry chuckle when I read this part:

Considering Sony mascot platformer and celebration of all things Playstation Astro Bot won GOTY and best design.
Now I want to play Astro Bot, but I can't. Bad Sony.

I only know of Sports Illustrated from Waynes World, so I think so too.

Cheer up, Last of Us Part 2 is on the way. ;)

No, it is not mostly known in the US for its one swimsuit issue each year after the Super Bowl. It is the most respected sports magazine in the US. It's the New York Times of sports journalism. Of course, the Internet has reduced its impact considerably, and it would make sense that people outside the US only know about the swimsuit issue (one week out of 52).

I still have a box full of Sports Illustrated magazines that I've kept through the years going back to the 1980s, just issues that were special to me (like when my favorite teams won championships).

Last time I said Shadow of War was getting repetitive. Today I moved to a new region and killed or dominated a dozen new captains and had an absolute blast. I used a lot more stealth this time, not because I need it but just because it's fun. It's really just travelling that's a bit of a bore, but when you arrive to a new region you'll trip over a new captain around every corner, so you don't have to spend much time travelling.

Us dirty minded Europeans

I don't think you can blame us. We've only learned about it by Americans telling us about it and apparently the swimsuit issue is the only one they talk about.

I doubt we told you about it.

Let's do a test of just how perverted Europeans are. We have around 8000 different magazines in the US.

Now, other than Sports Illustrated, think of an American magazine.
You're thinking about Playboy, aren't you?

So the only two things you know about American magazines are the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and Playboy.

Yawn, a 4 year old game finally gets released... I never saw the excitement in that series. which is funny as on the PS forum I used to be on others loved it... it was just a game

I thought of Mad Magazine and then looked at spoiler... guess I am not European though.

I'm pretty excited for it, just finished the first game on PC and it stands up at 12 years old.

Hopefully they dont flub the port and take a year to fix it this time is all.

I finished and won my first run in Arcanium. It apparently took me a little over three hours.

The final boss fight was a struggle. I killed the two minor enemies fairly quickly, but then lost two of my heroes, leaving me with only my tank. I thought I was screwed as my tank has almost no damage cards, but I discovered I could reliably tank all incoming damage, leaving me to slowly chip away at the remaining health until I won.

This was on the easiest difficulty though, I'm not sure if something like that is possible on the harder difficulties.

Do you guys like free cats? Perhaps digital ones?

My neighbor owns a fluffy white cat and it tries at times to get into my home. The cat probably smells the results of my highly developed gastronomical skills. My specialty is called Le Frozen Boutique de la Pizza Formaggio.

My vision probably isn't good enough to pixel hunt cats, but I'll give it a shot.

At the beginning of the PC Gamer Most Wanted show, the host said, "By the time I finish this sentence, 14 more games will have been added to Steam and 6 of them will be hidden object cat games."

That's so true.

Did some messing around today, as I've been having lots of fun playing Dishonored 2 and I want to play it on my laptop. I think I mentioned previously that it doesn't work with switchable AMD graphics, so I went ahead and swapped the GTX 1070 out of my HTPC into my eGPU enclosure and gave the HTPC the 6670 XT. Kind of now regretting the AMD card, but whatever, this will work for the time being.

I am amused that the eGPU enclosure is larger than my entire HTPC.

Also, I had a little mishap putting things back together. Forgot the HTPC cover doesn't "slide" on it, but instead is just set into place; accidentally destroyed the power connector on the game drive for the HTPC:

Lucky for me I had an identical drive in my drawer of 2.5" SSDs/HDDs. Though I was confused as to why my HTPC was suddenly booting into Windows 8 when I put it back together and then remembered that the "new" drive probably had an OS on it and got boot priority...

I loved the first one. My perception is that people didn't love the 2nd one, but I don't know why. Probably some weird political issue. I'll give it a try at some point after the initial nobility pricing drops down to my bourgeois level.

Looks like people who were able to be objective about the game liked it quite a lot. So Im pretty excited to play it.

But It's ok as long as they read it for the articles.

I played part 1 initially on PS3, and 2 replays PS4. I obviously enjoyed it. I also picked it up on the recent Steam sale. I'm really looking forward to it again on PC.

I also enjoyed part 2 on PS4 and have been wanting to do a replay, but I'd rather play on PC so I'll wait for it.

I definitely like the first one better, but part 2 was probably more engaging story-wise. At least for me. My biggest issue with it is I didn't like the direction they went in at the end of the story, and it also felt a little dragged out and probably should have wrapped up sooner than it did. It also got a little preachy for me, but not in a political sense, just a little too much of it. Still, I enjoyed it enough.

Still chugging along in GTA IV. I'm surprised how many people have never played it. It’s got the third highest Metacritic rating of all time! The game in 2024 is a long shot from being the masterpiece we thought it was back in 2008, but it’s still fantastic and just takes a bit of work to get it working at its full potential on a modern rig. I’ve said this here before, but it seriously has my favorite characters Rockstar has ever made, apart from Arthur Morgan of course.

I’ve been alternating between playing the story and messing around with the trainer. Using the trainer, I was able to make gravity almost zero, spawned like 30 different pedestrians and made them all fight with low gravity on. The trick is to spawn them all at once so there is a huge group of them, punch one guy, and as he goes to punch you he will most likely hit one of the other pedestrians. This triggers a chain effect and eventually they will all be fighting each other and forget about you. I love to go into first person and stand in the middle of the crowd watching them all throw hands.

I vaguely remember some people having an issue with it, something about political BS or whatever. After that dust settled, I think the consensus was that it was a really good game. I’ve seen some videos of the cutscenes and couldn’t see why people were enraged by it. I still haven’t played the first one, it’s on my wishlist along with 900 other games.

Guido performed a near miracle yesterday. In Darktide, we joined two randoms to do a special mission on the highest difficulty where you had to fight two bosses simultaneously.

Long story short, our randoms failed to avoid a trap and died in a gas cloud where we couldn't revive them. They were so dead they weren't even in the room anymore and had to be rescued after the fight.

I'm okay at these sorts of games, but I went down with about 25 percent of the fight still left to go. Guido tossed a medkit next to me to try to heal himself while reviving me, but it didn't work. They slammed him so hard while he was standing still trying to do the revive that he only had a sliver of health left when he abandoned me.

"We're dead," he said. But we weren't. Somehow he managed to keep that sliver of health the whole time and finished them both off. Was incredible to watch.

A lot of it from what I remember was the run-of-the-mill crowd where they heard something about it they didn't like, then flamed the game without ever trying it for themselves. That said, there are what could be considered socio-politically motivated elements, but really anyone that actually played and paid attention to the first game vs skipping through the cut scenes shouldn't be surprised by any of it.

I couldn't get into GTA IV. I didn't care for the characters and I really hated the driving, my car kept slipping all over. Which might have been more realistic, but it wasn't fun.
