I was driving today, and an SUV drove by with some company logo on it. Aperture Science.

Wait, WHAT!?!? As it happened, I was able to drive up alongside it at a stoplight. Yep, that's what it says! There was even a "We do what we must because we can" on the side!

That's some epic gamer credibility right there.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson was some of the saddest boxing I have ever seen. I would not even call it a fight at all, it was friendly sparring between two people who got paid immensely. I'm not shocked that Netflix would host this garbage, but they could not even keep the live stream up, not to mention the commentary during the show was hilariously bad. At least the Reddit comments were fun to read, so I got something entertaining out of it after all.

Yeah my first inclination when I saw this advertised well before it aired was it's just a pathetic publicity stunt, that is not at all worth watching. I don't know much about Paul, but my view of Tyson ever since he bit a piece of Evander Holifield's ear off during his bout with him is he's more about disgracing the sport than representing it.

It's amazing how apparently clueless I am about women.

I was at the pharmacy. They are always getting new pharmacists, but I'd seen this woman before. She asked how she could help me, and I said, "Didn't your eyes used to be green?" because she wore colored contacts and the other times I saw her they were green and now they were blue.

She became so happy and flustered that I had been noticing her eye colors that she couldn't talk straight for a second. I told my wife about it, and she told me to stop flirting with the pharmacist. I had no idea I was flirting with the pharmacist. I was just making an observation.

This is the kind of knowledge I would like to have had before I was in my late 50s.

Anyone here using BlueSky?

I haven’t used Twitter much in the past few years. Partly the reason why I wanted to return to forums. Twitter has become such a toxic place even before the change to X. BlueSky so far seems to have people posting with much more positive attitudes. It’s nice to just get a random thought out even if I only have 3 followers. It’s almost like a public journal where I can document my thoughts and ideas.

Well, we survived a rather nasty windstorm here last night, which was the residual effects of the bomb cyclone that hit the Oregon coast. The power went out about 7:30 last night, and came on about 5:30 this morning. Our internet didn't come back on until 11:30 AM though. I was talking with one of the residents last night who told me they once had an over 6 day outage, and the only reason it lasted that long is our power grid has the lowest population of any grid in the city, so is the lowest priority for being restored.

So naturally I was pretty surprised when the power was back on early in the morning, because the news at that time said 500,000 people were still without power. Last night I was a bit antsy, as having no tenant parking spot yet, I park on the street. I was parked in between two pretty large trees. I checked for downed branches once the wind had picked up, but only saw a few small ones on the sidewalk. We did see some feint lightning high in the sky a few times, but no thunder, so we knew the center of the thunder storm was quite far away.

Word is there was a tornado up north of us on the coast, and two unfortunate women in nearby towns from us lost their lives being hit by fallen trees, one homeless, the other in a home in a rather high end suburb. Nature has no prejudice whom it takes. I've also seen footage on the news of a tree that fell on a city bus, and a pretty large tree that slashed a good ways through a fairly large house. All things considered, I think we are very lucky with all the large trees we have around us, and the low priority grid we live on, that no tree damage was done and we got hooked back up so fast.

When I called my friends just now in the building I moved to here from, they said their power and internet never went out. It's OK I thought, I still prefer living here. I mean, life is no fun without risks, right? We're supposed to have more wind gusts this Fri, but not a sustained windstorm. That is the day I was going to take my freeway drive to charge my EV battery (every 3 days), but I'm thinking of doing it Thur instead. I mean, SOME risks yeah, but I'm not a big fan of being blown around at freeway speeds in an SUV, especially when my latissimus dorsi is still spasming from a rather nasty crash I had recently on my mt bike.

On a side not, my latest urge is to get this beast when it goes on sale at the end of the model cycle. It's MUCH better designed for the trails we have here than the 20 yr old dinosaur I've been riding!

This could be a better deal though, but DTC, so no way to demo before purchase.
