Hello,

I'm planning on upgrading my setup and I would like some opinions, i tried researching a bit but I want to make sure i'm making the correct dicisions or if there are any other better options.

CASE - PHANTEKS ECLIPSE P500A D-RGB
MOTHERBOARD - ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS
CPU - AMD RYZEN 9 3900X 12-CORE 3.8GHZ AM4 BOX
WATER COOLER CPU - ARTIC LIQUID FREEZER II 360
RAM - G.SKILL KIT 32GB 2X16GB DDR4 3200MHZ CL15 RIPJAWS V
PSU - CORSAIR AX1000 80+ PLATINUM MODULAR
SSD - SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS 1TB M.2 NVME - MZ-V7S1T0BW
GFX - MSI GEFORCE RTX3080 VENTUS 3X 10G OC DDR6

MONITOR BENQ ZOWIE XL2546 TN 24.5" FHD LED 16:9 240HZ 1MS

I'm going to use it mostly for gaming with a bit of work (nothing out of the ordinary or extreme)
I also don't intend on doing overcloking

I'm also not sure if I should get amd or intel, this setup can also change next mounth depending on what AMD shows and if intel lunches its tiger lake desktop cpus.

Current setup:

i7 2600k
msi board (faulty)
corsair rm 750
gtx 970

4g of ram (had 16, other sticks died)
benq xl2411, 144hz

I thank anyone who can share an opinion in advance ^^

Intel's not going to launch Tiger Lake desktops for a while, if at all (disregarding NUCs which use mobile chips). Nobody's expecting Rocket Lake, which will be the next desktop thing according to The InternetTM, until sometime in 2021.

I would, however, wait for Zen 3 which is being announced in 12 days if you can.

The 3900x is pretty pointless for gaming versus current AMD or Intel alternatives, let alone Zen 3.
The PSU is overkill, and not in a way that would profit you - the RM/RMx series is a much better buy.
32gb RAM just for gaming isn't useful unless there are some niche simulation type "games" you play

What kinds of games do you play? Why 240hz at 1080p?

I'm going to wait for zen 3.

The store I buy pc stuff from said I would need a 1000w psu when the rtx 3080 came out so I didn't really look it up, but from what I see the rm750 should be enought right? then I don't need to buy a new one.

I intend to play mostly FPS, some single players and rpg games.

I have tried 240hz before and I felt the difference from 144hz, I noticed more responsivness and smoothness.

Well, that sounds like a great reason to not listen to anything they have to say without double-checking first :)

Even the PSU scare stories that were circulating before launch only said 850. In reality 650W is going to be fine in most configs, 750W for pretty much anything, and 850W leaves a lot of headroom.

So RM750 is more than fine, 850W if you want to leave room against future generations pushing the power budget even higher.

With a 3080 you could consider 1440p 240hz - A 3080 can apparently push Doom Eternal at ~240fps at 1440p. Not that Doom Eternal stands for all titles, but still... Assuming you're not playing at low settings to max out FPS.

And if you are playing at 'competitive' (low) settings, then your CPU choice is between Zen 3 and Intel 10th Gen with Zen 2 ruled out altogether because you're chasing framerate into CPU-limit territory.
