I Picked up a ASUS ROG STRIX Desktop from eBay for $699 W/Free Shipping (seems like a pretty good deal)
ASUS ROG STRIX G10DK
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @ 4.20 GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR4 SK Hynix 3200MHz
GPU: ASUS RTX 3060 12GB
STORAGE: 512GB m.2 NVMe SSD (I added my 1TB 2.5" SSD)
POWER: 500W 80+ Bronze PSU (I took this out and installed my brand new EVGA 650 Watt unit)
OS: Windows 11
While I could have built this system for cheap, at the time for me to personally put all this together with buying a new GPU (RTX 3060 12GB) I would have spent around $1,000 before taxes. So overall, I don't think it was that bad of a deal. One thing that was wrong with the system was the GPU Fan was broken/bearings were bad. Once I booted the system up and ran some programs to do a burn test on the CPU/GPU my GPU almost immediately hit 99c! So, I shut down the system ASAP, let it cool off, booted it back up and waited on the desktop and noticed the single fan on the GPU wasn't spinning, so I figured it was a bad fan. Ordered a replacement off amazon for $12 and it arrived the next day. Removing the plastic shroud from the GPU itself was rather easy once I figured out how. Only four little screws hold the shroud to the actual GPU itself and these are placed where it won't "Void" the warranty, even though all of these parts are more than likely out of the 2 year period. Once the fan was replaced I did some FURMARK, 3DMARK and Synthetic game benchmarks to make sure everything was operating as it should. Everything checked out and I've been using this "MATX" case/PC for about 2 weeks give or take and it runs everything I play buttery smooth at 120 FPS; those being CS2, War Thunder, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Skyrim Special Edition and the new Alpha test for Delta Force (Formerly Delta Force Hawk Ops).
Another issue I had which wasn't with the system itself but rather Microsoft and Windows 11 is for some reason, something on the installation of the OS was prevent certain games from being able to connect online or even install proper files while connected via WiFi or Ethernet. Because of this I installed Windows 10 64-bit onto the included m.2 NVMe drive and everything after that functioned as expected.
The System was listed as "Used - Like New" and as far as I can tell it was. I'm assuming someone might have had this before and maybe tried to game on it but didn't know that the GPU fan was the issue. The case and side panels still had their plastic peels on them, nothing really preventing airflow (besides the case itself).
Overall I don't think it was a bad deal with what you get right out of the box for a Pre-built, compared to an OEM system like a DELL XPS or HP PAVILLION.
So far my Pros and Cons are as follows for the system and purchasing a Used system from eBay.
